Chinese Internet AS-level Topology
We present the first complete measurement of the Chinese Internet topology at
the autonomous systems (AS) level based on traceroute data probed from servers
of major ISPs in mainland China. We show that both the Chinese Internet AS
graph and the global Internet AS graph can be accurately reproduced by the
Positive-Feedback Preference (PFP) model with the same parameters. This result
suggests that the Chinese Internet preserves well the topological
characteristics of the global Internet. This is the first demonstration of the
Internet's topological fractality, or self-similarity, performed at the level
of topology evolution modeling.Comment: This paper is a preprint of a paper submitted to IEE Proceedings on

On the challenges of establishing disjoint QoS IP/MPLS paths across multiple domains
MPLS is being actively adopted as the core switching infrastructure at the intradomain level. This trend is mainly attributable to the undeniable potential of MPLS in terms of virtual private networks (VPNs) management, traffic engineering (TE), QoS delivery, path protection, and fast recovery from network failures. However, little progress has been made to attain the expected extension of MPLS label-switched paths (LSPs) across domain boundaries. Among the problems that remain unsolved is how to efficiently find and establish primary and protection interdomain LSPs for mission-critical services subject to QoS constraints. This article explores the major limitations hindering the deployment of these kinds of LSPs across multiple domains, in the context of the current interdomain network model. We describe the critical problems faced by the research community, and present our vision on how to rationally overcome some of the problems exposed. Our perspective is that we should be prepared for rather coarse-grained solutions as long as we need to coexist with the current interdomain network modelPostprint (published version
A critical look at power law modelling of the Internet
This paper takes a critical look at the usefulness of power law models of the
Internet. The twin focuses of the paper are Internet traffic and topology
generation. The aim of the paper is twofold. Firstly it summarises the state of
the art in power law modelling particularly giving attention to existing open
research questions. Secondly it provides insight into the failings of such
models and where progress needs to be made for power law research to feed
through to actual improvements in network performance.Comment: To appear Computer Communication
Postprint (published version
Inteligencia Computacional Aplicada a la Evaluación de Calidad de Servicio
The quality of service QoS evaluation specifically in the packet routing satisfies requirements of performance and maximizes the resources utilization of the network by means of paths selection based on the resources that are needed. More in the investigations about the quality of service support in the routing are focused in the one-domain routing, BGP, the standart for the inter-domain routing does not provide mechanism to evaluate the quality the service and taking in consideration that the quality of service experienced by the users, it is influenced by all domains through the end-to-end path, it is necessary the development of schemes of inter-domain routing that evaluate efficiently the quality of service. The proposed research is focused in the computational intelligence application in a prototypeof interdomain routing based in policies. We present a fuzzy logic approach to evaluate the quality of service, in this way selectpaths depending multiple heterogeneous criteria.
