An optical readout for a fibre tracker
The performance of 16 and 64 channel photomultipliers coupled to
scintillating fibres has been tested. The devices are sensitive to single
photoelectrons, show little gain losses for magnetic fields up to 100 Gauss and
have moderate optical cross-talk. The maximum channel to channel gain
variations reach a factor two for the 16 channel version and a factor of four
for the 64 channel PM. The measurements and simulations indicate that the
photomultipliers are well suited for the light detection in fibre trackers.Comment: 11 pages, 9 picture
The Schwarzschild black hole as a point particle
The description of a point mass in general relativity (GR) is given in the
framework of the field formulation of GR where all the dynamical fields,
including the gravitational field, are considered in a fixed background
spacetime. With the use of stationary (not static) coordinates non-singular at
the horizon, the Schwarzschild solution is presented as a point-like field
configuration in a whole background Minkowski space. The requirement of a
stable -causality stated recently in [J.B.Pitts and W.C.Schieve, Found.
Phys., v. 34, 211 (2004)] is used essentially as a criterion for testing
configurations.Comment: LATEX, 8 pages, no figure
CONFLICTOLOGICAL CULTURE OF PERSONALITY IN A PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT (BY THE EXAMPLE OF PEDAGOGUES AND ENGINEERS)
The levels of conflictological culture of pedagogues and engineers, the peculiarities of its formation as well as the comparison of the conflictological culture’s levels among representatives of these specialties on the base of their gender and work experience are analyzed in the proposed research. Each specialist owns a certain level of the conflictological culture’s development and he/she expresses it in a professional environment. The relevance of the research’s theme is caused by the necessity to improve conflictological culture of specialists for their further successful activities. The Aim of the research is the identification of differences in the levels’ formation of specialists’ conflictological culture by the example of pedagogues and engineers and the influence of such a characteristic as a gender and work experience on it. The Object of the research is the process of forming conflictological culture of pedagogues and engineers. The Methods of the research are the following:1. the theoretical analysis of scientific literature on the given problem;2.the empirical analysis of obtained data reflected the level’s formation of pedagogues and engineers.
Currents on Grassmann algebras
We define currents on a Grassmann algebra with generators as
distributions on its exterior algebra (using the symmetric wedge product). We
interpret the currents in terms of -graded Hochschild cohomology and
closed currents in terms of cyclic cocycles (they are particular multilinear
forms on ). An explicit construction of the vector space of closed
currents of degree on is given by using Berezin integration.Comment: 20 pages, CPT-93/P.2935 and ENSLAPP-440/9

Some Futures for the Belgian Coast 2100, a Case Study of Research by Design on Regional Level
In this paper, we want to explain our findings from recent research by design on regional level that is initiated by the Flemish Spatial Development Department Ruimte Vlaanderen.
We elaborate further on our conclusions on the article “Can research by design on regional level help to introduce new concepts in spatial planning?” (Zaman Geldof Geens, 2014) and add more results on recent research by design on regional level on the Belgian Coastal area for 2100 (Metropolitaan Kustlandschap 2100). Furthermore we elaborate new findings based on the comments we received by the audience of the ISOCARP 2014 congress in Gdynia and the Quality-forum Regional Research by Design (RRD) we organized in Brussels.
Main issue is the question if paradigm breaking research by design (Janssens 2013) is possible in a policy context. Another issue is the idea that research by design has to evolve during the process on 4 scale-lines as described in previous article. The issue to involve more stakeholders during the design process to obtain a more ‘realistic’ level is discussed. The importance to go back to an bigger scale and scope level after having focused more to get to a more comprehensive result seems to be very important. This means that some kind of evolution path is to be explored to become more performant research by design on regional level
