On realization graphs of degree sequences
Given the degree sequence of a graph, the realization graph of is the
graph having as its vertices the labeled realizations of , with two vertices
adjacent if one realization may be obtained from the other via an
edge-switching operation. We describe a connection between Cartesian products
in realization graphs and the canonical decomposition of degree sequences
described by R.I. Tyshkevich and others. As applications, we characterize the
degree sequences whose realization graphs are triangle-free graphs or
hypercubes.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figure
Maximum Weight Independent Sets in Odd-Hole-Free Graphs Without Dart or Without Bull
The Maximum Weight Independent Set (MWIS) Problem on graphs with vertex
weights asks for a set of pairwise nonadjacent vertices of maximum total
weight. Being one of the most investigated and most important problems on
graphs, it is well known to be NP-complete and hard to approximate. The
complexity of MWIS is open for hole-free graphs (i.e., graphs without induced
subgraphs isomorphic to a chordless cycle of length at least five). By applying
clique separator decomposition as well as modular decomposition, we obtain
polynomial time solutions of MWIS for odd-hole- and dart-free graphs as well as
for odd-hole- and bull-free graphs (dart and bull have five vertices, say
, and dart has edges , while bull has edges
). If the graphs are hole-free instead of odd-hole-free then
stronger structural results and better time bounds are obtained
On the approximability of the maximum induced matching problem
In this paper we consider the approximability of the maximum induced matching problem (MIM). We give an approximation algorithm with asymptotic performance ratio d-1 for MIM in d-regular graphs, for each d≥3. We also prove that MIM is APX-complete in d-regular graphs, for each d≥3
Recipe theorems for polynomial invariants on ribbon graphs with half-edges
We provide recipe theorems for the Bollob\`as and Riordan polynomial
defined on classes of ribbon graphs with half-edges introduced in
arXiv:1310.3708[math.GT]. We also define a generalized transition polynomial
on this new category of ribbon graphs and establish a relationship between
