Persistence of nonautonomous logistic system with time-varying delays and impulsive perturbations

In this paper, we develop the impulsive control theory to nonautonomous logistic system with time-varying delays. Some sufficient conditions ensuring the persistence of nonautonomous logistic system with time-varying delays and impulsive perturbations are derived. It is shown that the persistence of the considered system is heavily dependent on the impulsive perturbations. The proposed method of this paper is completely new. Two examples and the simulations are given to illustrate the proposed method and results

Optimal threshold density in a stochastic resource management model with pulse intervention

Human activities and agricultural practices are having huge impacts on the development of fishery and land resources through different ways. To model such systems that involve harvesting, an impulsive model of natural resources with a stochastic noise perturbation element is formulated to study the relationship between (a) the maximal expectation of biomass after harvesting or fishing events and (b) the minimal expectation of pest biomass and the number of times pesticide is applied. Using a detailed analytical treatment, time estimation, and numerical demonstrations, we establish that the proposed mechanism is capable of maximizing fish populations at the end of a fishing season and minimizing pest numbers after a crop harvesting season once the intensity of the noise is relatively small. Investigations of the effects of different parameters reveal that theoretical predictions from the new stochastic model accord with those from the deterministic case

The present volume on Mathematical Analysis and Applications in Science and Engineering - Book of Extended Abstracts of the ICMASC’2022 collects the extended abstracts of the talks presented at the International Conference on Mathematical Analysis and Applications in Science and Engineering – ICMA2SC'22 that took place at the beautiful city of Porto, Portugal, in June 27th-June 29th 2022 (3 days). Its aim was to bring together researchers in every discipline of applied mathematics, science, engineering, industry, and technology, to discuss the development of new mathematical models, theories, and applications that contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and practice. Authors proposed research in topics including partial and ordinary differential equations, integer and fractional order equations, linear algebra, numerical analysis, operations research, discrete mathematics, optimization, control, probability, computational mathematics, amongst others. The conference was designed to maximize the involvement of all participants and will present the state-of- the-art research and the latest achievements.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

This study aims to describe Critical Thinking Skills high school students in the city of Makassar. To achieve this goal, the researchers conducted an analysis of student test results of 200 people scattered in six schools in the city of Makassar. The results of the quantitative descriptive analysis of the data found that the average value of students doing the interpretation, analysis, and inference in a row by 1.53, 1.15, and 1.52. This value is still very low when compared with the maximum value that may be obtained by students, that is equal to 10.00. This shows that the critical thinking skills of high school students are still very low. One fact Competency Standards science subjects-Physics is demonstrating the ability to think logically, critically, and creatively with the guidance of teachers and demonstrate the ability to solve simple problems in daily life. In fact, according to Michael Scriven stated that the main task of education is to train students and or students to think critically because of the demands of work in the global economy, the survival of a democratic and personal decisions and decisions in an increasingly complex society needs people who can think well and make judgments good. Therefore, the need for teachers in the learning device scenario such as: driving question or problem, authentic Investigation: Science Processes

Advancing Human Assessment: The Methodological, Psychological and Policy Contributions of ETS

    Get PDF
This book describes the extensive contributions made toward the advancement of human assessment by scientists from one of the world’s leading research institutions, Educational Testing Service. The book’s four major sections detail research and development in measurement and statistics, education policy analysis and evaluation, scientific psychology, and validity. Many of the developments presented have become de-facto standards in educational and psychological measurement, including in item response theory (IRT), linking and equating, differential item functioning (DIF), and educational surveys like the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), the Programme of international Student Assessment (PISA), the Progress of International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) and the Trends in Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS). In addition to its comprehensive coverage of contributions to the theory and methodology of educational and psychological measurement and statistics, the book gives significant attention to ETS work in cognitive, personality, developmental, and social psychology, and to education policy analysis and program evaluation. The chapter authors are long-standing experts who provide broad coverage and thoughtful insights that build upon decades of experience in research and best practices for measurement, evaluation, scientific psychology, and education policy analysis. Opening with a chapter on the genesis of ETS and closing with a synthesis of the enormously diverse set of contributions made over its 70-year history, the book is a useful resource for all interested in the improvement of human assessment
