Flight Mechanics/Estimation Theory Symposium, 1992
This conference publication includes 40 papers and abstracts presented at the Flight Mechanics/Estimation Theory Symposium on May 5-7, 1992. Sponsored by the Flight Dynamics Division of Goddard Space Flight Center, this symposium featured technical papers on a wide range of issues related to orbit-attitude prediction, determination, and control; attitude sensor calibration; attitude determination error analysis; attitude dynamics; and orbit decay and maneuver strategy. Government, industry, and the academic community participated in the preparation and presentation of these papers
Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology with Gravitational Waves
Gravitational wave detectors are already operating at interesting sensitivity
levels, and they have an upgrade path that should result in secure detections
by 2014. We review the physics of gravitational waves, how they interact with
detectors (bars and interferometers), and how these detectors operate. We study
the most likely sources of gravitational waves and review the data analysis
methods that are used to extract their signals from detector noise. Then we
consider the consequences of gravitational wave detections and observations for
physics, astrophysics, and cosmology.Comment: 137 pages, 16 figures, Published version

Bibliography of Supersonic Cruise Research (SCR) program from 1977 to mid-1980
The supersonic cruise research (SCR) program, initiated in July 1972, includes system studies and the following disciplines: propulsion, stratospheric emission impact, structures and materials, aerodynamic performance, and stability and control. In a coordinated effort to provide a sound basis for any future consideration that may be given by the United States to the development of an acceptable commercial supersonic transport, integration of the technical disciplines was undertaken, analytical tools were developed, and wind tunnel, flight, and laboratory investigations were conducted. The present bibliography covers the time period from 1977 to mid-1980. It is arranged according to system studies and the above five SCR disciplines. There are 306 NASA reports and 135 articles, meeting papers, and company reports cited
Proceedings: Sixth Annual Workshop on Meteorological and Environmental Inputs to Aviation Systems
The topics of interaction of the atmosphere with aviation systems, the better definition and implementation of services to operators, and the collection and interpretation of data for establishing operational criteria relating the total meteorological inputs from the atmospheric sciences to the needs of aviation communities were addressed
Robust randomized trajectory planning for satellite attitude tracking control
Thesis (S.M.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Aeronautics and Astronautics, 2006.Includes bibliographical references (p. 121-125).This thesis presents a novel guidance strategy that uses a randomized trajectory planning algorithm in a closed-loop fashion to provide robust motion planning and execution. By closing the guidance, navigation, and control loop around a randomized trajectory planning algorithm, a robotic vehicle can autonomously maneuver through a field of moving obstacles in a robust manner. The guidance strategy provides executable plans that are robust to known error sources when supplied with an estimate of the initial state, the goal, the predicted locations of obstacles, and bounds on error sources affecting the execution of a planned trajectory. The planning function presented in this thesis extends the Rapidly-exploring Random Tree algorithm to dynamic environments by exploring the configuration- x-time space using a node selection metric based on the maneuvering capability of the vehicle. The guidance strategy and the new randomized trajectory planning algorithm are applied to a challenging satellite attitude guidance problem in simulation.by Drew Richard Barker.S.M

O stars and Wolf-Rayet stars
Basic information is given about O and Wolf-Rayet stars indicating how these stars are defined and what their chief observable properties are. Part 2 of the volume discussed four related themes pertaining to the hottest and most luminous stars. Presented are: an observational overview of the spectroscopic classification and extrinsic properties of O and Wolf-Rayet stars; the intrinsic parameters of luminosity, effective temperature, mass, and composition of the stars, and a discussion of their viability; stellar wind properties; and the related issues concerning the efforts of stellar radiation and wind on the immediate interstellar environment are presented
