ASSESSING THE ROLE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GOVERNANCE (ITG) ON THE PERFORMANCE OF PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN ETHIOPIA
Information technology (IT) usage is part of any modern organization be it a business, governmental or nongovernmental one. In a typical organization, investments on desktop and laptop computers, printers, telecommunication networks, database management systems and some specialized information systems (accounting, manufacturing, human resources, customer relationship, supply chain, etc) are commonplace. Bianchi et al (2021) stated that organizations have been using IT to automate and perform process integration, connecting the enterprise with customers, suppliers and distributors to obtain sustainable competitive advantage. Moreover, the pervasive use of technology has created a critical dependency on IT that demands considerable attention to IT Governance (ITG). Ghildyal and Chang (2017) argued that IT governance is an essential part of enterprise governance which is driven primarily by demand for transparency across enterprise IT related risks and protection of shareholder value. Aditya,et al(2018) also share the above view stating that in the era of digital transformation, IT risk is the main focus for top management, especially in business decision making. These clearly indicate that IT governance critically influences firm performance. Lazic et al(2011) also asserted that the fundamental importance of information technology (IT) in todayâs business operations can hardly be refuted and while IT spending is constantly rising, the continuous debate surrounding the IT productivity paradox has decreased
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PROVISION OF BASIC SERVICES OF THE SELECTED BARANGAYS IN BAYUGAN CITY AGUSAN DEL SUR, PHILIPPINES: ITâS ADMINISTRATION AND GOVERNENCE
Governance has been defined as âthe manner in which power is exercised in the management of the countryâs economic and social resources for developmentâ. However, governance is not simply about how government conducts business in its own sphere. It is also about how government interacts with civil society. It tells how well government has encouraged and facilitated peopleâs participation not only in the delivery of services but also in evaluation and monitoring of government performance itself. In spite of technological advancement in information systems, people remain the most important factor in private and public organization. None of these techniques or management methods is effective unless they are administered and carried out by competent Barangay officials. Considering the importance of human power development, The City Government of Bayugan, Agusan del Sur conducted training programs, leadership seminars, and other Seminar-Workshop to fully reach the competence of leadership for the improvement of Barangays in. Projects are being monitored every year to see and testify if one City has improved under the administration of the said officials
International Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-scale Fisheries
The 'Zero Draft' of the International Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-scale Fisheries(SSF Guidelines) has been prepared based on the outcomes of the extensive consultation process that has taken place during the last few years. This preliminary draft text draws in particular on the Discussion Document: Towards Voluntary Guidelines on Securing Sustainable Small-scale Fisheriesâprepared as a stock-taking exercise by the FAO SSF Guidelines Secretariat in July 2011 and the contributions to and the outcomes of the FAO Workshop on International Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-scale Fisheries held on 7-10 February 2012 in FAO, Rome. It has been prepared to stimulate further consultations among all concerned parties. The outcomes of these additional consultations will provide guidance to the FAO Secretariat when preparing the text of the SSF Guidelines that will be submitted as a draft to the formal inter-governmental negotiation process tentatively scheduled for May 2013
Corporate governance, stakeholding and the nature of employment relations within the firm
This paper investigates the effect of different forms of corporate governance on the structure and nature of stakeholder relationships within organizations and
the consequent impact on employment relations within the firm. In this, HRM assumes a dual role in delivering improvements in production efficiency and in fostering employee commitment to the organization and its objectives.
However, different forms of corporate governance prioritise stakeholder interests in ways that may bring these two objectives into conflict. To address these questions, we examine the interrelationship between corporate governance, HRM practices and HRM outcomes in a comparative analysis of
companies operating under alternative forms of governance, including private sector, public sector and family-owned firms. The empirical analysis is based on the UK Work and Employment Relations Survey (WERS98)

It reports on a systematic review and analysis of the responses and initiatives of twelve multilateral organisations and global fora: European Union; Global Forum on Migration and Development; Global Health Workforce Alliance; International Labour Organization; International Organization for Migration; Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development; PanâAmerican Health Organization; UN Global Migration Group; UN HighâLevel Dialogue on Migration and Development; World Bank; World Health Organization; and the World Trade Organization.
The report documents how these global policy actors are presently engaging with the HRH migration field through their activities, initiatives and policy responses. It situates this engagement within global policy initiatives spanning health, migration and development. In addition to reviewing and mapping current initiatives and policy responses and their outcomes, the report identifies emerging issues, upcoming promising initiatives and global policy scenarios
Marine Managed Areas: What, Why, and Where
This paper, which focuses on ocean and coastal areas, explores the challenge of public participation by discussing the role of communities in IM. It draws on a decade of collaboration between academics and community partners to outline the community perspective on both the limiting factors and the opportunities, and a state-of-the-art survey of community involvement in IM, parti-cularly in the Canadian Maritimes. The paper highlights the importance of linking communities and governments, and the need to overcome the growing disconnect between the two. It also illustrates the varied experiences of local coastal communities with IM through three concrete examples. These practical examples lead to two specific out-puts: a set of fundamental IM values and attributes from a community perspective, and a four-step process for facilitating and enabling community-focused IM.The conclusion summarizes key outcomes in terms of inclusivity and active involvement of communities

What role does corporate governance play in the intention to use cloud computing technology?
This paper aims to investigate the factors which promote the adoption of cloud-based technology. It strives for a better understanding of the impact of corporate governance on the adoption of this technology. This study concentrated on executives in companies where the use of cloud computing may give a competitive advantage. The main contribution of this work is to propose a model for the influence of corporate governance and other factors that determine the adoption of this technology. A questionnaire was prepared after taking into consideration the reviewed literature. The sample consisted of 164 technology companies from Southern Spain that already use the new economic models for digital solutions. The methodology used to analyze the structural model was the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results of the survey showed the influence of Corporate Governance and the procedures and practices of the organization on the adoption of cloud computing and the associated business model. This study aims to point out the importance of corporate support and Knowledge Management for the correct and successful adoption of this technology and to show the effects on the new business model of billing for the use of available resources. Identifying ecosystem key factors to support sustainable water management
There is a growing consensus that sustainable development requires a behavioral change, forced by firm decision-making. However, existing decision-supporting tools are unlikely to provide relevant information, hampered by the complexity of combined socio-economic and natural systems. Protecting the intrinsic value of ecosystems and providing sufficient natural resources for human use at the same time leads up to a wide span of management, ranging from species traits to governance. The aim of this study is to investigate the interactions between the natural and economic systems from the perspective of sustainable development. The way to reduce systems complexity by selecting key factors of ecosystem functioning for policy and management purposes is discussed. To achieve this, the Pentatope Model is used as a holistic framework, an ecosystem nodes network is developed to select key factors, and a combined natural and socio-economic valuation scheme is drawn. These key factorsâabiotic resources and conditions, biodiversity, and biomassâare considered fundamental to the ecosystem properties habitat range and carrying capacity. Their characteristics are discussed in relation to sustainable water management. The conclusion is that sustainable development requires environmental decision-making that includes the intrinsic natural value, and should be supported by ecological modelling, additional environmental quality standards, and substance balances
