Modeling Deterministic Chaos Using Electronic Circuits
This paper brings a note on systematic circuit synthesis methods for modeling the dynamical systems given by mathematical model. Both classical synthesis and integrator based method is demonstrated via the relatively complicated real physical systems with possible chaotic solution. A variety of the different active building blocks are utilized to make the final circuits as simple as possible while preserving easily measurable voltage-mode state variables. Brief experimental verification, i.e. oscilloscope screenshots, is presented. The observed attractors have some structural stability and good relationship to their numerically integrated counterparts
Engineering Education and Research Using MATLAB
MATLAB is a software package used primarily in the field of engineering for signal processing, numerical data analysis, modeling, programming, simulation, and computer graphic visualization. In the last few years, it has become widely accepted as an efficient tool, and, therefore, its use has significantly increased in scientific communities and academic institutions. This book consists of 20 chapters presenting research works using MATLAB tools. Chapters include techniques for programming and developing Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), dynamic systems, electric machines, signal and image processing, power electronics, mixed signal circuits, genetic programming, digital watermarking, control systems, time-series regression modeling, and artificial neural networks
How AD Can Help Solve Differential-Algebraic Equations
A characteristic feature of differential-algebraic equations is that one
needs to find derivatives of some of their equations with respect to time, as
part of so called index reduction or regularisation, to prepare them for
numerical solution. This is often done with the help of a computer algebra
system. We show in two significant cases that it can be done efficiently by
pure algorithmic differentiation. The first is the Dummy Derivatives method,
here we give a mainly theoretical description, with tutorial examples. The
second is the solution of a mechanical system directly from its Lagrangian
formulation. Here we outline the theory and show several non-trivial examples
of using the "Lagrangian facility" of the Nedialkov-Pryce initial-value solver
DAETS, namely: a spring-mass-multipendulum system, a prescribed-trajectory
control problem, and long-time integration of a model of the outer planets of
the solar system, taken from the DETEST testing package for ODE solvers

Robust Multimode Function Synchronization of Memristive Neural Networks with Parameter Perturbations and Time-Varying Delays
Publisher Copyright: IEEE Copyright: Copyright 2020 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.Currently, some works on studying complete synchronization of dynamical systems are usually restricted to its two special cases: 1) power-rate synchronization and 2) exponential synchronization. Therefore, how to give a generalization of these types of complete synchronization by the mathematical expression is an open question that needs to be urgently solved. To begin with, this article proposes multimode function synchronization by the mathematical expression for the first time, which is a generalization of exponential synchronization, power-rate synchronization, logarithmical synchronization, and so on. Moreover, two adaptive controllers are designed to achieve robust multimode function synchronization of memristive neural networks (MNNs) with mismatched parameters and uncertain parameters. Each adaptive controller includes function r(t) and update gain σ. By choosing different types of r(t), multiple types of complete synchronization, including power-rate synchronization and exponential synchronization can be obtained. And update gain σ can be used to adjust the speed of synchronization. Therefore, our results enlarge and strengthen the existing results. Two examples are put forward to verify the validity of our results.Peer reviewedFinal Accepted Versio
From Quantum Optics to Quantum Technologies
Quantum optics is the study of the intrinsically quantum properties of light.
During the second part of the 20th century experimental and theoretical
progress developed together; nowadays quantum optics provides a testbed of many
fundamental aspects of quantum mechanics such as coherence and quantum
entanglement. Quantum optics helped trigger, both directly and indirectly, the
birth of quantum technologies, whose aim is to harness non-classical quantum
effects in applications from quantum key distribution to quantum computing.
Quantum light remains at the heart of many of the most promising and
potentially transformative quantum technologies. In this review, we celebrate
the work of Sir Peter Knight and present an overview of the development of
quantum optics and its impact on quantum technologies research. We describe the
core theoretical tools developed to express and study the quantum properties of
light, the key experimental approaches used to control, manipulate and measure
such properties and their application in quantum simulation, and quantum
computing.Comment: 20 pages, 3 figures, Accepted, Prog. Quant. Ele
Symmetry in Chaotic Systems and Circuits
Symmetry can play an important role in the field of nonlinear systems and especially in the design of nonlinear circuits that produce chaos. Therefore, this Special Issue, titled “Symmetry in Chaotic Systems and Circuits”, presents the latest scientific advances in nonlinear chaotic systems and circuits that introduce various kinds of symmetries. Applications of chaotic systems and circuits with symmetries, or with a deliberate lack of symmetry, are also presented in this Special Issue. The volume contains 14 published papers from authors around the world. This reflects the high impact of this Special Issue
