Challenges and Opportunities to Updating Prescribing Information for Longstanding Oncology Drugs.
A number of important drugs used to treat cancer-many of which serve as the backbone of modern chemotherapy regimens-have outdated prescribing information in their drug labeling. The Food and Drug Administration is undertaking a pilot project to develop a process and criteria for updating prescribing information for longstanding oncology drugs, based on the breadth of knowledge the cancer community has accumulated with the use of these drugs over time. This article highlights a number of considerations for labeling updates, including selecting priorities for updating; data sources and evidentiary criteria; as well as the risks, challenges, and opportunities for iterative review to ensure prescribing information for oncology drugs remains relevant to current clinical practice
Why Modern Open Source Projects Fail
Open source is experiencing a renaissance period, due to the appearance of
modern platforms and workflows for developing and maintaining public code. As a
result, developers are creating open source software at speeds never seen
before. Consequently, these projects are also facing unprecedented mortality
rates. To better understand the reasons for the failure of modern open source
projects, this paper describes the results of a survey with the maintainers of
104 popular GitHub systems that have been deprecated. We provide a set of nine
reasons for the failure of these open source projects. We also show that some
maintenance practices -- specifically the adoption of contributing guidelines
and continuous integration -- have an important association with a project
failure or success. Finally, we discuss and reveal the principal strategies

Software Architecture of Code Analysis Frameworks Matters: The Frama-C Example
Implementing large software, as software analyzers which aim to be used in
industrial settings, requires a well-engineered software architecture in order
to ease its daily development and its maintenance process during its lifecycle.
If the analyzer is not only a single tool, but an open extensible collaborative
framework in which external developers may develop plug-ins collaborating with
each other, such a well designed architecture even becomes more important.
In this experience report, we explain difficulties of developing and
maintaining open extensible collaborative analysis frameworks, through the
example of Frama-C, a platform dedicated to the analysis of code written in C.
We also present the new upcoming software architecture of Frama-C and how it

Linking Mathematical Software in Web Archives
The Web is our primary source of all kinds of information today. This
includes information about software as well as associated materials, like
source code, documentation, related publications and change logs. Such data is
of particular importance in research in order to conduct, comprehend and
reconstruct scientific experiments that involve software. swMATH, a
mathematical software directory, attempts to identify software mentions in
scientific articles and provides additional information as well as links to the
Web. However, just like software itself, the Web is dynamic and most likely the
information on the Web has changed since it was referenced in a scientific
publication. Therefore, it is crucial to preserve the resources of a software
on the Web to capture its states over time.
We found that around 40% of the websites in swMATH are already included in an
existing Web archive. Out of these, 60% of contain some kind of documentation
and around 45% even provide downloads of software artifacts. Hence, already
today links can be established based on the publication dates of corresponding
articles. The contained data enable enriching existing information with a
temporal dimension. In the future, specialized infrastructure will improve the
coverage of software resources and allow explicit references in scientific

PrivacyScore: Improving Privacy and Security via Crowd-Sourced Benchmarks of Websites
Website owners make conscious and unconscious decisions that affect their
users, potentially exposing them to privacy and security risks in the process.
In this paper we introduce PrivacyScore, an automated website scanning portal
that allows anyone to benchmark security and privacy features of multiple
websites. In contrast to existing projects, the checks implemented in
PrivacyScore cover a wider range of potential privacy and security issues.
Furthermore, users can control the ranking and analysis methodology. Therefore,
PrivacyScore can also be used by data protection authorities to perform
regularly scheduled compliance checks. In the long term we hope that the
transparency resulting from the published benchmarks creates an incentive for
website owners to improve their sites. The public availability of a first
version of PrivacyScore was announced at the ENISA Annual Privacy Forum in June
