Automated and scalable elicitation of customer needs is still in its infancy. With the proposed “Need mining” prototype, we aim to enable automated customer need extraction from the micro blog platform Twitter

The Encyclopedia of Neutrosophic Researchers - vol. 1

    Get PDF
This is the first volume of the Encyclopedia of Neutrosophic Researchers, edited from materials offered by the authors who responded to the editor’s invitation. The authors are listed alphabetically. The introduction contains a short history of neutrosophics, together with links to the main papers and books. Neutrosophic set, neutrosophic logic, neutrosophic probability, neutrosophic statistics, neutrosophic measure, neutrosophic precalculus, neutrosophic calculus and so on are gaining significant attention in solving many real life problems that involve uncertainty, impreciseness, vagueness, incompleteness, inconsistent, and indeterminacy. In the past years the fields of neutrosophics have been extended and applied in various fields, such as: artificial intelligence, data mining, soft computing, decision making in incomplete / indeterminate / inconsistent information systems, image processing, computational modelling, robotics, medical diagnosis, biomedical engineering, investment problems, economic forecasting, social science, humanistic and practical achievements

Extracting and Structuring Drug Information to Improve e-Prescription and Streamline Medical Treatment

Currently, physicians are using the patient electronic health record (EHR) to support their practice. The Romanian healthcare system switched to the electronic prescription starting with 2012. Physicians use the electronic medical record and health card to access patient data whenever available. To improve the medical act, we propose a tool supporting the prescription process, structuring and extracting important information from drug characteristics leaflets (prospectus). The application processes data extracted from around 3.000 medical prospectuses using several Romanian language Web sources. The drug leaflet data is structured on sections: therapeutic action, contraindications, mode of administration, adverse reactions, etc. A stemming algorithm has been applied to each section, extracting the root of the word for an easy search. The result is a text in an *.xml file. After structuring step, the application searches in the structured file the necessary information to prescribe the patient’s medication as closely as possible related to patient state. The application suggests all the drugs matching the patient's disease and are not contraindicated, or enter in conflict with other diseases, treatments or allergies of the patient, and the physician may select the best solution for the given situation

Can product service systems support electric vehicle adoption?

Plug-in electric vehicles are seen as a promising option to reduce oil dependency, greenhouse gas emissions, particulate matter pollution, nitrogen oxide emissions and noise caused by individual road transportation. But how is it possible to foster diffusion of plug-in electric vehicles? Our research focuses on the question whether e-mobility product service systems (i.e. plug-in electric vehicles, interconnected charging infrastructure as well as charging platform and additional services) are supportive to plug-in electric vehicle adoption in professional environments. Our user oriented techno-economic analysis of costs and benefits is based on empirical data originating from 109 organizational fleets participating in a field trial in south-west Germany with in total 327 plug-in electric vehicles and 181 charging points. The results show that organizations indicate a high willingness to pay for e-mobility product service systems. Organizations encounter non-monetary benefits, which on average overcompensate the current higher total cost of ownership of plug-in electric vehicles compared to internal combustion engine vehicles. However, the willingness to pay for e-mobility charging infrastructure and services alone is currently not sufficient to cover corresponding actual costs. The paper relates the interconnected charging infrastructure solutions under study to the development of the internet of things and smarter cities and draws implications on this development

Search for Multimessenger Sources of Gravitational Waves and High-energy Neutrinos with Advanced LIGO during Its First Observing Run, ANTARES, and IceCube

Astrophysical sources of gravitational waves, such as binary neutron star and black hole mergers or core-collapse supernovae, can drive relativistic outflows, giving rise to non-thermal high-energy emission. High-energy neutrinos are signatures of such outflows. The detection of gravitational waves and high-energy neutrinos from common sources could help establish the connection between the dynamics of the progenitor and the properties of the outflow. We searched for associated emission of gravitational waves and high-energy neutrinos from astrophysical transients with minimal assumptions using data from Advanced LIGO from its first observing run O1, and data from the Antares and IceCube neutrino observatories from the same time period. We focused on candidate events whose astrophysical origins could not be determined from a single messenger. We found no significant coincident candidate, which we used to constrain the rate density of astrophysical sources dependent on their gravitational-wave and neutrino emission processes
