However, the information technology industry has experienced a dramatic shift in the past decade - factors such as hardware commoditization, open-source software, virtualization, workforce globalization, and agile IT processes have supported the development of new technology and business models. Cloud computing now offers organizations more choices regarding how to run infrastructures, save costs, and delegate liabilities to third-party providers. It has become an integral part of technology and business models, and has forced businesses to adapt to new technology strategies. Accordingly, the demand for cloud computing has forced the development of new market offerings, representing various cloud service and delivery models. These models significantly expand the range of available options, and task organizations with dilemmas over which cloud computing model to employ. This thesis poses analysis of available cloud computing models and potential future cloud computing trends. Comparative analysis includes cloud services delivery (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and deployment models (private, public, and hybrid). Cloud computing paradigms are discussed in the context of technical, business, and human factors, analyzing how business and technology strategy could be impacted by the following aspects of cloud computing: --Architecture --Security --Costs --Hardware/software trends (commodity vs. brands, open vs. closed-source) --Organizational/human Factors To provide a systematic approach to the research presented in this paper, cloud taxonomy is introduced to classify and compare the available cloud service offerings. In particular, this thesis focuses on the services of a few major cloud providers. Amazon Web Services (AWS) will be used as a base in many examples because this cloud provider represents approximately 70% of the current public cloud services market. Amazon's AWS has become a cloud services trend-setter, and a reference point for other cloud service providers. The analysis of cloud computing models has shown that public cloud deployment model is likely to stay dominant and keep expanding further. Private and Hybrid deployment models are going to stay for years ahead but their market share is going to continuously drop. In the long-term private and Hybrid cloud models most probably will be used only for specific business cases. IaaS service delivery model is likely to keep losing market share to PaaS and SaaS models because companies realize more value and resource-savings from software and platform services rather than infrastructure.     Máster Universitario en Investigación e Innovación en Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (i2-TIC)The natural-inspired computing has becomeone of the most frequently used techniques to handle complex problems such as the NP-Hard optimization problems. This kind of computing has several advantages over traditional computing, including resiliency, parallel data processing, and low consumptionof power. One of the active research areas of the natural-inspired algorithms is Network of Evolutionary Processors (NEPs). A NEP consists of several cells that are attached together; at the same time the edges of the graph are to transfer data between the nodes in system, while cells are representing the nodes.In this thesis we construct a NEPs system which is implemented over the Hadoop spark environment. The use of the spark platform is essential in this work due to the capabilities supplied by this platform. It is a suitable environment used solving some complicated problems. Using the environment is a possible choice in order to design the NEPs system. For this reason, in this thesis, we detailed on how to install, design and operate this system on the Apache the spark environment is used because it has the capability to implement the NEPs system in a distributed manner. The NEPs simulation is delivered in this work. An analysis of system’s parameters was also provided in this work for the system performance evaluation via the examination of each single factor affecting the performance of the NEPs individually. After testing the system, it become clear that using NEPs on the decentralize cloud eco-system can be thought as an effective method to handle data of different formats and also to execute optimization problems such as Adelman, 3-colorabilty and Massive-NEP problems. Moreover, this scheme is also robust that can be adaptable to handle data which might be scaled up to be big data which is characterized by its volume and heterogeneity. In this context heterogeneity might be referring to collecting data from different sources. Moreover, the utilization of the spark environment as a platform to operate the NEPs system has it is prospects. This environment is characterized by its fast task handing chunks of data to Hadoop architecture that is used to implement the spark system which is mainly based on the map and reduce functions. Thus, the task is distributed on NEPs system using the cloud based environment system made it possible to have logical result in all of the three examples investigated and examined in this method

To conclude on this matter, an introduction to the technology sector will be presented, followed by a detailed overview of Salesforce and Slack, positioned in the second quarter of 2021, before the acquisition took place. To better understand the several impacts of the deal, the teaching note will produce various analyses of the macro-environment surrounding both companies, including Industry, Porter’s Five Forces, and PESTLE analyses. Finally, there will be a conclusion on whether the possible acquisition of Slack by Salesforce makes sense from a macro perspective

    The world faces numerous crises, being the economic and financial crisis, the more worrying crisis and which people become more aware, to find solutions to various problems, namely unemployment, especially youth unemployment. Throughout the evolution of the world, entrepreneurship phenomenon went hand in hand with economic and technological development, providing new businesses with innovative concepts, responding to people's needs. Today, entrepreneurship continues to be important to the economies, as it adds new companies with value by presenting people with talent, with creative sense and innovative products and services. With technological development and financial assistance from investors or government, we have witnessed an exponential growth of startups over the past few years. Entrepreneurial education also encouraged this development, presenting conferences and workshops, calling students to innovation, creating your own startup. In reply to the growth and development of European ecosystems, this research work was developed to analyze the reality of European ecosystems. The aim is to understand whether there are trends in choosing economic sectors, business models and pricing models. This investigation is composed by an extensive literature review to startups and startup ecosystem and by an empirical study to startups’ perception concerning to this subject. To acquire empirical data it was conducted an online questionnaire directed to a sample of startups registered on online platform. This study confirmed the existence of trends by information gathered from online platform and the online questionnaire. It is proposed a recommendation, which will help to continue the investigations concerning to this subject

    Con la crescita in complessità delle infrastrutture IT e la pervasività degli scenari di Internet of Things (IoT) emerge il bisogno di nuovi modelli computazionali basati su entità autonome capaci di portare a termine obiettivi di alto livello interagendo tra loro grazie al supporto di infrastrutture come il Fog Computing, per la vicinanza alle sorgenti dei dati, e del Cloud Computing per offrire servizi analitici complessi di back-end in grado di fornire risultati per milioni di utenti. Questi nuovi scenarii portano a ripensare il modo in cui il software viene progettato e sviluppato in una prospettiva agile. Le attività dei team di sviluppatori (Dev) dovrebbero essere strettamente legate alle attività dei team che supportano il Cloud (Ops) secondo nuove metodologie oggi note come DevOps. Tuttavia, data la mancanza di astrazioni adeguata a livello di linguaggio di programmazione, gli sviluppatori IoT sono spesso indotti a seguire approcci di sviluppo bottom-up che spesso risulta non adeguato ad affrontare la compessità delle applicazione del settore e l'eterogeneità dei compomenti software che le formano. Poichè le applicazioni monolitiche del passato appaiono difficilmente scalabili e gestibili in un ambiente Cloud con molteplici utenti, molti ritengono necessaria l'adozione di un nuovo stile architetturale, in cui un'applicazione dovrebbe essere vista come una composizione di micro-servizi, ciascuno dedicato a uno specifica funzionalità applicativa e ciascuno sotto la responsabilità di un piccolo team di sviluppatori, dall'analisi del problema al deployment e al management. Poichè al momento non si è ancora giunti a una definizione univoca e condivisa dei microservices e di altri concetti che emergono da IoT e dal Cloud, nè tantomento alla definzione di linguaggi sepcializzati per questo settore, la definzione di metamodelli custom associati alla produzione automatica del software di raccordo con le infrastrutture potrebbe aiutare un team di sviluppo ad elevare il livello di astrazione, incapsulando in una software factory aziendale i dettagli implementativi. Grazie a sistemi di produzione del sofware basati sul Model Driven Software Development (MDSD), l'approccio top-down attualmente carente può essere recuperato, permettendo di focalizzare l'attenzione sulla business logic delle applicazioni. Nella tesi viene mostrato un esempio di questo possibile approccio, partendo dall'idea che un'applicazione IoT sia in primo luogo un sistema software distribuito in cui l'interazione tra componenti attivi (modellati come attori) gioca un ruolo fondamentale

It became necessary to prove that the company is attacking a real need in the hotel market, to explain that Climber has a capable software that responds to these needs, to demonstrate the value of its human resources and, finally, to explain how the financing would be translated into actual results. Accordingly, a business plan was drawn up which included a market study, an analysis of the opportunities, a presentation of human resources and a financial plan. The plan was presented to several investors to enable them to assess the value of the software developed by the company, how it will address its expansion, the initial markets to tackle, the resources needed and what it will do if the most negative scenarios occur. The strategy outlined was successful. In July 2017, the investment was formalized in the value of three hundred thousand euros that will allow the company to expand.A Climber Revenue Strategy, sentindo que Portugal é um mercado limitado para o seu produto, encontra-se na fase inicial da sua expansão internacional, sendo para tal essencial captar investimento que possibilite a mesma. Tornou-se então necessário provar que a empresa está a atacar uma necessidade real do mercado hoteleiro, expor que a Climber possui um software capaz de responder a essas necessidades, demonstrar o valor dos seus recursos humanos e, por último, explicar como o financiamento seria traduzido em resultados reais. Em conformidade, foi elaborado um plano de negócios no qual se incluiu um estudo de mercado, uma análise de oportunidades, uma apresentação dos recursos humanos e um plano financeiro. O plano foi apresentado a diversos investidores para lhes permitir avaliar o valor do software desenvolvido pela empresa, a forma como esta irá abordar a sua expansão, os mercados por onde começará, os recursos necessários e o que fará caso os cenários mais negativos ocorram. A estratégia delineada foi bem sucedida. Em julho de 2017, formalizou-se a angariação de investimento na ordem de trezentos mil euros que possibilitarão a expansão da empresa

    Motives and Barriers to Cloud ERP Selection for SMEs: A Survey of Value Added Resellers (VAR) Perspectives

    Small to Mid-size Enterprises (SMEs) typically are slow/late to adopt new technologies due to a conservative bias, cost factors and possible lack of knowledge. Implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a major, costly undertaking for a company of any size, especially SMEs, but there is the potential for huge paybacks touted by advantages afforded by the cloud. Cloud based ERP technology for SMEs is relatively new and poses a potential large risk-reward payoff. Given that these SMEs are currently functioning with their existing systems, why would they want to risk switching to Bleeding Edge Cloud ERP technology? Prior ERP research has focused primarily on an ERP’s implementation success and the relevant critical success factors (CSFs) important throughout the various stages of an ERP’s lifecycle. The focus of these studies has been on post-selection variables and the success or failure of the ERP’s adoption or implementation. Inherent in these studies are firms who already selected ERP technology which provides no insight into any potential barriers that prevent selection. ERP research in the area of SME cloud/SaaS ERP systems is nascent. This paper adds methodological, empirical and theoretical contributions to this existing stream of research about the motives and barriers in the selection of cloud ERP systems for SME’s. In particular, this research paper proposes to help bridge these gaps by operationalizing and testing Saeed, Juell-Skielse, and Uppström (2012)’s Unified Framework (UF) of the motives and barriers to the selection of cloud ERP systems. This current study uses Value Added Resellers (VARs) as subjects. They are arguably the most knowledgeable and in the best position to assess both the motives and more importantly barriers since there are in direct contact with the cloud ERP prospective purchasers
