On Content-centric Wireless Delivery Networks
The flux of social media and the convenience of mobile connectivity has
created a mobile data phenomenon that is expected to overwhelm the mobile
cellular networks in the foreseeable future. Despite the advent of 4G/LTE, the
growth rate of wireless data has far exceeded the capacity increase of the
mobile networks. A fundamentally new design paradigm is required to tackle the
ever-growing wireless data challenge.
In this article, we investigate the problem of massive content delivery over
wireless networks and present a systematic view on content-centric network
design and its underlying challenges. Towards this end, we first review some of
the recent advancements in Information Centric Networking (ICN) which provides
the basis on how media contents can be labeled, distributed, and placed across
the networks. We then formulate the content delivery task into a content rate
maximization problem over a share wireless channel, which, contrasting the
conventional wisdom that attempts to increase the bit-rate of a unicast system,
maximizes the content delivery capability with a fixed amount of wireless
resources. This conceptually simple change enables us to exploit the "content
diversity" and the "network diversity" by leveraging the abundant computation
sources (through application-layer encoding, pushing and caching, etc.) within
the existing wireless networks. A network architecture that enables wireless
network crowdsourcing for content delivery is then described, followed by an

Vehicular networks are expected to empower auto mated driving and intelligent transportation via vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications and edge/cloud-assisted computation, and in the meantime Cellular V2X (C-V2X) is gaining wide support from the global industrial ecosystem. The 5G NR-V2X technology is the evolution of LTE-V2X, which is expected to provide ultra-Reliable and Low-Latency Communications (uRLLC) with 1ms latency and 99.999% reliability. Nevertheless, vehicular networks still face great challenges in supporting many emerging time-critical applications, which comprise sensing, communication and computation as closed-loops

Walking the talk : an investigation of the pedagogical practices and discourses of an international broadcasting organisation : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Education in Adult Education, Massey University, Manawatu, New Zealand
Increasingly our knowledge of the world around us comes from the media,
mediated by professional broadcasters. As the education and training of
broadcasters has progressively become associated with educational
institutions there has been more theorising about what broadcasters should
know and how they should be educated, however the actual educational
and training practices of broadcasting organisations remains under
researched and under theorised. This research looks at the educational
and training practices of an international broadcasting organisation and
how they are sustained by the organisational ethos through a series of
interviews with people directly involved in the organisation‟s training
practices and an examination of a selection of the organisation‟s
promotional and policy documents. From this comes a picture of an
organisation committed to excellence and also a vision of broadcasting as
an emancipatory activity. This commitment and vision is reflected in its inhouse
training practices and also its media development work. The
interviews with trainers, project managers, administrators and researchers
reveal broadcasters who are pragmatic idealists and reflective practitioners
and whose passion and commitment to the transformative powers of
education and training are undeniable
The Health of Ethnic Media: Needs and Opportunities
The ethnic news media (ranging the gamut from newspapers to broadcast programs to online ventures) have experienced rapid growth in tandem with the changing nature of the nation's demographics, yet considerable anecdotal evidence shows that many of these outlets struggle with a variety of serious problems, ranging from poor journalistic standards to sheer survivability as businesses. The study was designed to provide an assessment of the sector's health and resiliency and to identify threats to success, primarilyfrom the perspective of its staff and leaders
Examining Mobile Technology in Higher Education: Handheld Devices In and Out of the Classroom
This study followed an innovative introduction of mobile technology (i.e., BlackBerry® devices) to a graduate level business program and documented students’ use of the technology from the time students received the devices to the end of their first term of study. Students found the BlackBerry® device easy to use, and were optimistic regarding its potential role as an instructional tool. Students were self-directed in their use of the devices and found ways to use them within and outside of their classroom even when specific uses were not provided by instructors. Students used their devices most frequently for communication purposes outside the classroom through applications such as BlackBerry Messenger. Overall, although supporting a modest positive view toward this initial introduction to mobile technology as a learning tool, classroom instructional use was more limited than student-directed use in and outside the classroom. A comprehensive examination of the instructional pedagogy that best supports the potential of mobile technology as a self-directed learning tool is necessary to address the limitations seen in this implementation
