    Fuzzy impulsive control of high order interpolative lowpass sigma delta modulators

    In this paper, a fuzzy impulsive control strategy is proposed. The state vectors that the impulsive controller resets to are determined so that the state vectors of interpolative low-pass sigma-delta modulators (SDMs) are bounded within any arbitrary nonempty region no matter what the input step size, the initial condition and the filter parameters are, the occurrence of limit cycle behaviors and the effect of audio clicks are minimized, as well as the state vectors are close to the invariant set if it exists. To work on this problem, first, the local stability criterion and the condition for the occurrence of limit cycle behaviors are derived. Second, based on the derived conditions, as well as a practical consideration based on the boundedness of the state variables and a heuristic measure on the strength of audio clicks, fuzzy membership functions and a fuzzy impulsive control law are formulated. The controlled state vectors are then determined by solving the fuzzy impulsive control law. One of the advantages of the fuzzy impulsive control strategy over the existing linear control strategies is the robustness to the input signal, the initial condition and the filter parameters, and that over the existing nonlinear control strategy are the efficiency and the effectiveness in terms of lower frequency of applying the control force and higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) performanc

    Perceptual Copyright Protection Using Multiresolution Wavelet-Based Watermarking And Fuzzy Logic

    In this paper, an efficiently DWT-based watermarking technique is proposed to embed signatures in images to attest the owner identification and discourage the unauthorized copying. This paper deals with a fuzzy inference filter to choose the larger entropy of coefficients to embed watermarks. Unlike most previous watermarking frameworks which embedded watermarks in the larger coefficients of inner coarser subbands, the proposed technique is based on utilizing a context model and fuzzy inference filter by embedding watermarks in the larger-entropy coefficients of coarser DWT subbands. The proposed approaches allow us to embed adaptive casting degree of watermarks for transparency and robustness to the general image-processing attacks such as smoothing, sharpening, and JPEG compression. The approach has no need the original host image to extract watermarks. Our schemes have been shown to provide very good results in both image transparency and robustness.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figure

    Use of idempotent functions in the aggregation of different filters for noise removal

Nonetheless, there is a lack in denoising algorithms that can deal with any unknown noisy images. Therefore, in this paper, we study the use of aggregation functions for denoising purposes, where the noise model is not necessary known in advance; and how these functions affect the visual and quantitative results of the resultant images

    Observations on adaptive vector filters for noise reduction in color images

    In a series of papers, Plataniotis et al. proposed a number of filters for noise reduction in color images where the noise type is unknown. In this letter, those filters with a unified notation are summarized, and it is shown that they are essentially variants of the same filtering procedure. It is also shown that the class of adaptive vector filters can be considered as interpolants between the arithmetic mean filter and the vector median filter. Results are presented of numerical computations with the filters on test images corrupted with noise. It is found that the adaptive vector filters perform well with general applicability

    Consensus image method for unknown noise removal

    Noise removal has been, and it is nowadays, an important task in computer vision. Usually, it is a previous task preceding other tasks, as segmentation or reconstruction. However, for most existing denoising algorithms the noise model has to be known in advance. In this paper, we introduce a new approach based on consensus to deal with unknown noise models. To do this, different filtered images are obtained, then combined using multifuzzy sets and averaging aggregation functions. The final decision is made by using a penalty function to deliver the compromised image.     PID control system analysis, design, and technology

    Designing and tuning a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller appears to be conceptually intuitive, but can be hard in practice, if multiple (and often conflicting) objectives such as short transient and high stability are to be achieved. Usually, initial designs obtained by all means need to be adjusted repeatedly through computer simulations until the closed-loop system performs or compromises as desired. This stimulates the development of "intelligent" tools that can assist engineers to achieve the best overall PID control for the entire operating envelope. This development has further led to the incorporation of some advanced tuning algorithms into PID hardware modules. Corresponding to these developments, this paper presents a modern overview of functionalities and tuning methods in patents, software packages and commercial hardware modules. It is seen that many PID variants have been developed in order to improve transient performance, but standardising and modularising PID control are desired, although challenging. The inclusion of system identification and "intelligent" techniques in software based PID systems helps automate the entire design and tuning process to a useful degree. This should also assist future development of "plug-and-play" PID controllers that are widely applicable and can be set up easily and operate optimally for enhanced productivity, improved quality and reduced maintenance requirements
