Approximate Reasoning with Fuzzy Booleans
This paper introduces, in analogy to the concept of fuzzy numbers, the concept of fuzzy booleans, and examines approximate reasoning with the compositional rule of inference using fuzzy booleans. It is shown that each set of fuzzy rules is equivalent to a set of fuzzy rules with singleton crisp antecedents; in case of fuzzy booleans this set contains only two rules. It is shown that Zadeh's extension principle is equivalent to the compositional rule of inference using a complete set of fuzzy rules with singleton crisp antecedents. The results are applied to describe the use of approximate reasoning with fuzzy booleans to object-oriented design methods
Development of accident prediction model by using artificial neural network (ANN)
Statistical or crash prediction model have frequently been used in highway
safety studies. They can be used in identify major contributing factors or establish
relationship between crashes and explanatory accident variables. The
measurements to prevent accident are from the speed reduction, widening the
roads, speed enforcement, or construct the road divider, or other else. Therefore,
the purpose of this study is to develop an accident prediction model at federal road
FT 050 Batu Pahat to Kluang. The study process involves the identification of
accident blackspot locations, establishment of general patterns of accident, analysis
of the factors involved, site studies, and development of accident prediction model
using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) applied software which named
NeuroShell2. The significant of the variables that are selected from these accident
factors are checked to ensure the developed model can give a good prediction
results. The performance of neural network is evaluated by using the Mean
Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). The study result showed that the best neural
network for accident prediction model at federal road FT 050 is 4-10-1 with 0.1
learning rate and 0.2 momentum rate. This network model contains the lowest
value of MAPE and highest value of linear correlation, r which is 0.8986. This
study has established the accident point weightage as the rank of the blackspot
section by kilometer along the FT 050 road (km 1 – km 103). Several main
accident factors also have been determined along this road, and after all the data
gained, it has successfully analyzed by using artificial neural network

Learning fuzzy inference systems using an adaptive membership function scheme
An adaptive membership function scheme for general additive fuzzy systems is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme can adapt a proper membership function for any nonlinear input-output mapping, based upon a minimum number of rules and an initial approximate membership function. This parameter adjustment procedure is performed by computing the error between the actual and the desired decision surface. Using the proposed adaptive scheme for fuzzy system, the number of rules can be minimized. Nonlinear function approximation and truck backer-upper control system are employed to demonstrate the viability of the proposed method
The cognitive bases for the design of a new class of fuzzy logic controllers: The clearness transformation fuzzy logic controller
This paper analyses the internal operation of fuzzy logic controllers as referenced to the human cognitive tasks of control and decision making. Two goals are targeted. The first goal focuses on the cognitive interpretation of the mechanisms employed in the current design of fuzzy logic controllers. This analysis helps to create a ground to explore the potential of enhancing the functional intelligence of fuzzy controllers. The second goal is to outline the features of a new class of fuzzy controllers, the Clearness Transformation Fuzzy Logic Controller (CT-FLC), whereby some new concepts are advanced to qualify fuzzy controllers as 'cognitive devices' rather than 'expert system devices'. The operation of the CT-FLC, as a fuzzy pattern processing controller, is explored, simulated, and evaluated
Incorporating the Basic Elements of a First-degree Fuzzy Logic and Certain Elments of Temporal Logic for Dynamic Management Applications
The approximate reasoning is perceived as a derivation of new formulas with the corresponding temporal attributes, within a fuzzy theory defined by the fuzzy set of special axioms. For dynamic management applications, the reasoning is evolutionary because of unexpected events which may change the state of the expert system. In this kind of situations it is necessary to elaborate certain mechanisms in order to maintain the coherence of the obtained conclusions, to figure out their degree of reliability and the time domain for which these are true. These last aspects stand as possible further directions of development at a basic logic level. The purpose of this paper is to characterise an extended fuzzy logic system with modal operators, attained by incorporating the basic elements of a first-degree fuzzy logic and certain elements of temporal logic.Dynamic Management Applications, Fuzzy Reasoning, Formalization, Time Restrictions, Modal Operators, Real-Time Expert Decision System (RTEDS)
