    Array P Systems and t−Communication

    The two areas of grammar systems and P systems, which have provided interesting computational models in the study of formal string language theory have been in the recent past effectively linked in [4] by incorporating into P systems, a communication mode called t−mode of cooperating distributed grammar systems. On the other hand cooperating array grammar systems [5]and array P systems [1] have been developed in the context of two-dimensional picture description. In this paper, motivated by the study of [4], these two systems are studied by linking them through the t−communication mode, thus bringing out the picture description power of these systems

    This is the report-version of a mini-series of two articles on the foundations of satisfiability of conjunctive normal forms with non-boolean variables, to appear in Fundamenta Informaticae, 2011. These two parts are here bundled in one report, each part yielding a chapter. Generalised conjunctive normal forms are considered, allowing literals of the form "variable not-equal value". The first part sets the foundations for the theory of autarkies, with emphasise on matching autarkies. Main results concern various polynomial time results in dependency on the deficiency. The second part considers translations to boolean clause-sets and irredundancy as well as minimal unsatisfiability. Main results concern classification of minimally unsatisfiable clause-sets and the relations to the hermitian rank of graphs.     Quality-aware architectural model transformations in adaptive mashups user interfaces

The integration of such services can be solved by using reusable and third-party components. Furthermore, these interfaces must be adapted to user preferences, context changes, user interactions and component availability. Model transformation is a useful mechanism to address this adaptation but normally these operations only focus on the functional requirements. In this sense, quality attributes should be included in the adaptation process to obtain the best adapted mashup user interface. This paper proposes a generic quality-aware transformation process to support the adaptation of software architectures. The transformation process has been applied in ENIA, a geographic information system, by constructing a specific quality model for the adaptation of mashup user interfaces. This model is taken into account for evaluating the different transformation alternatives and choosing the one that maximizes the quality assessments. The approach has been validated by a set of adaptation scenarios that are intended to maximize different quality factors and therefore apply distinct combinations of metrics.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

    Membrane Systems and Petri Net Synthesis

    Automated synthesis from behavioural specifications is an attractive and powerful way of constructing concurrent systems. Here we focus on the problem of synthesising a membrane system from a behavioural specification given in the form of a transition system which specifies the desired state space of the system to be constructed. We demonstrate how a Petri net solution to this problem, based on the notion of region of a transition system, yields a method of automated synthesis of membrane systems from state spaces.Comment: In Proceedings MeCBIC 2012, arXiv:1211.347
