Information networks – concept, classification and application

An information network is a structure used for transmitting various forms and types of information. In basic structure, it consists of branches that connect certain nodes. Many scientists and researchers have dealt with the problem of defining an information network, depending on the functional organization and data transmission, and also with the classification of information networks.  Information networks have a very wide application in almost all scientific disciplines. A large number of researches are carried out on the application of information networks (e.g. bisociative, deep information network, heterogeneous information network, and space information network) in the field of medicine for easier detection of diseases, drug development, etc, and other needs to support real-time communication, massive data transmission, and data processing. In accordance with the above mentioned, the aim of this paper is to offer different approaches in defining and classifying general forms of information networks and to notice their wide application in different research disciplines

Ein Beitrag zum Wissensmanagement in der Bahnsicherungstechnik

Angesichts der Brisanz des Themas Wissensmanagement für den Bereich der Bahnsicherungstechnik aufgrund der Gefahr des Wissensverlustes im Zuge des demografischen Wandels beschäftigt sich die vorliegende Dissertation mit der Konzeptionierung eines unterstützenden Systems dafür. Es werden strukturelle Mindestanforderungen als Erfolgsvoraussetzung hergeleitet und entsprechende Handlungsempfehlungen abgeleitet. Die Arbeit verdeutlicht den großen Stellenwert des Menschen, denn ohne ihn und dessen Akzeptanz des Systems sowie Motivation, sich zu beteiligen, wird es trotz aller technischer und organisatorischer Maßnahmen zum Verlust seiner bis dahin nicht erfassten, für andere verständlich aufbereiteten und teilbaren Erfahrungen kommen. Wie die Vorgehensweise bezüglich solch einer Wissensmobilisierung aussehen kann, zeigt diese Arbeit. From Information Networks to Bisociative Information Networks

The integration of heterogeneous data from various domains without the need for prefiltering prepares the ground for bisociative knowledge discoveries where attempts are made to find unexpected relations across seemingly unrelated domains. Information networks, due to their flexible data structure, lend themselves perfectly to the integration of these heterogeneous data sources. This chapter provides an overview of different types of information networks and categorizes them by identifying several key properties of information units and relations which reflect the expressiveness and thus ability of an information network to model heterogeneous data from diverse domains. The chapter progresses by describing a new type of information network known as bisociative information networks. This kind of network combines the key properties of existing networks in order to provide the foundation for bisociative knowledge discoveries. Finally based on this data structure three different patterns are described that fulfill the requirements of a bisociation by connecting concepts from seemingly unrelated domains
