    Analytics as a field is rapidly growing because of businesses need to tackle increasingly large and complex datasets to gain a competitive edge in the business environment. Currently there are two distinct types of analytics technologies: proprietary and open-source. Each has their distinct strengths and weaknesses, but which is relevant in today business environment? Questions like this are important for businesses wanting utilize these technologies in order to become larger and more efficient. This research answered this question and it was found that both proprietary and open-source technologies are equally relevant in current analytics research. Because of this, businesses should be more aware of the analytics field and how both types of technologies could benefit their current operations and should strategically utilize both types to meet their specific data needs

    An Object-oriented Workflow Modeling Schema Using Dataflow Analysis for Collaborative E-governance Platform

    In the initial stage of transforming from government to governance for developing countries, collaborative e-governance platforms should be urgently established in different contexts. Though some platforms have been previously applied to various fields, researches on common basic functions analysis and across-organization business process modeling based on a suitable workflow modeling method for the platforms design and development are insufficient. Based on an explorative analysis of platform functions and their patterns, we propose a schema for e-governance platforms modeling according to an extended method of object-oriented workflow modeling using dataflow analysis. It covers a two-step process of top-level platform workflow modeling and function objection workflow modeling. In addition, a citizen appeal processing platform is taken as an example to illustrate the utility of the schema. The schema facilitates the contextualized collaborative e-governance platforms development with an operable method and reusable function workflow models

    Automação de Processos: estudo e aplicação de método de custeio para precificação de projeto

Engenharia de Controle e AutomaçãoOs progressos relacionados as revoluções que culminaram na Indústria 4.0 impactaram diretamente na apuração de despesas de produção, fazendo a contabilidade de custos se desenvolver no mesmo ritmo. O trabalho se justifica na necessidade da democratização ao acesso de métodos de custeio para empresas e visava analisar a possibilidade de minimizar custos através da automação de processos. Neste sentido, além da realização de pesquisa bibliométrica e sistêmica sobre o tema, foi realizado o estudo de caso do desenvolvimento de um projeto de software de controle de processo industrial. Foram simulados através do Arena o cenário atual do projeto (totalmente manual) e três cenários hipotéticos automatizados. Para fins comparativos foi aplicado o método de custeio ABC aos processos e foi observado que a atual precificação adotada pelo projeto não absorvia todos os custos. O cenário otimista automatizado apresenta diminuição na precificação de 21,47%, além de conferir maior confiabilidade ao sistema desenvolvido.The progress related to the revolutions that culminated in Industry 4.0 directly impacted the calculation of production expenses, making cost accounting develop at the same time. The paper is justified by the need to democratize access to costing methods for companies and aimed to analyze the possibility of minimizing costs through process automation. So, in addition to conducting bibliometric and systemic research on the topic, a case study of the development of an industrial process control software project was made. The current (fully manual) and three automated hypothetical scenarios were simulated through Arena. For comparative purposes, the Activity-Based Costing method was applied and it was observed that the current pricing adopted by the project did not include all the costs. The automated optimistic scenario shows a decrease in pricing of 21.47%, besides to giving greater reliability to the system developed

    Gestión de procesos de negocio en empresas cultivadoras de palma de aceite de los llanos orientales. Un estudio de caso.

    La gestión por procesos de negocio es una forma avanzada de administración que combina principios, métodos y herramientas tecnológicas para identificar, diseñar, ejecutar, evaluar y mejorar los procesos clave de negocio de las organizaciones. El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar un modelo que apoye la gestión por procesos en empresas cultivadoras de palma de aceite de los llanos orientales, así como diseñar un sistema de indicadores de control-evaluación para medir el funcionamiento de los mismos. Se empleó el juicio de expertos bajo el método Delphi para evaluar los constructos teóricos propuestos y presentar un modelo mejor adaptado al contexto de las organizaciones estudio de caso. El modelo presentado tiene cinco fases que son: planificación estratégica, diagnóstico organizacional, evaluación de procesos, implementación de procesos clave y mejora iterativa. Se estructura un sistema de indicadores diseñado bajo cuatro perspectivas: finanzas, clientes, procesos y aprendizaje-crecimiento. Finalmente se dan algunas recomendaciones para investigaciones futuras y se concluye el valor del modelo propuesto para este tipo de organizaciones agrícolas tan vitales para el desarrollo del agro colombiano.Abstract. The business process management is an advanced form of administration that combines principles, methods and technological tools for identify, design, implement, evaluate and improve the key business processes of the organizations. The objective of this study is to evaluate a model to support process management in oil palm cultivation in Colombia and design a system evaluation-monitoring indicators for measure the processes performance. Expert Opinion under the Delphi method was used for evaluate the theoretical constructs proposed and present a model better adapted to the context of the case study organizations. The presented model has five phases are: strategic planning, organizational assessment, process evaluation, implementation of key processes and iterative improvement. A system of indicators was designed under four perspectives: financial, customer, processes and learning-growth. Finally, some recommendations for future research and the conclusions of the value of the proposal for agricultural organizations of palm in Colombia.Maestrí
