Extraction efficiency of drifting electrons in a two-phase xenon time projection chamber
We present a measurement of the extraction efficiency of quasi-free electrons
from the liquid into the gas phase in a two-phase xenon time-projection
chamber. The measurements span a range of electric fields from 2.4 to 7.1 kV/cm
in the liquid xenon, corresponding to 4.5 to 13.1 kV/cm in the gaseous xenon.
Extraction efficiency continues to increase at the highest extraction fields,
implying that additional charge signal may be attained in two-phase xenon
detectors through careful high-voltage engineering of the gate-anode region
The effect of ultrasound pretreatment on some selected physicochemical properties of black cumin (Nigella Sativa)
Background
In the present study, the effects of ultrasound pretreatment parameters including irradiation time and power on the quantity of the extracted phenolic compounds quantity as well as on some selected physicochemical properties of the extracted oils including oil extraction efficiency, acidity and peroxide values, color, and refractive index of the extracted oil of black cumin seeds with the use of cold press have been studied.
Methods
For each parameter, three different levels (30, 60, and 90 W) for the ultrasound power and (30, 45, and 60 min) and for the ultrasound irradiation time were studied. Each experiment was performed in three replications.
Results
The achieved results revealed that, with enhancements in the applied ultrasound power, the oil extraction efficiency, acidity value, total phenolic content, peroxide value, and color parameters increased significantly (P 0.05).
Conclusions
In summary, it could be mentioned that the application of ultrasound pretreatment in the oil extraction might improve the oil extraction efficiency, the extracted oil’s quality, and the extracted phenolic compounds content.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Spontaneous emission control in high-extraction efficiency plasmonic crystals
We experimentally and theoretically investigate exciton-field coupling for
the surface plasmon polariton (SPP) in waveguide-confined (WC) anti-symmetric
modes of hexagonal plasmonic crystals in InP-TiO-Au-TiO-Si heterostructures.
The radiative decay time of the InP-based transverse magnetic (TM)-strained
multi-quantum well (MQW) coupled to the SPP modes is observed to be 2.9-3.7
times shorter than that of a bare MQW wafer. Theoretically we find that 80 % of
the enhanced PL is emitted into SPP modes, and 17 % of the enhanced
luminescence is redirected into WC-anti-symmetric modes. In addition to the
direct coupling of the excitons to the plasmonic modes, this demonstration is
also useful for the development of high-temperature SPP lasers, the development
of highly integrated photo-electrical devices, or miniaturized biosensors.Comment: Spontaneous emission control in high-extraction efficiency plasmonic

Application of bent crystals at IHEP 70-GeV accelerator to enhance the efficiency of its usage
Bent crystal was extracting 70-GeV protons with average intensity 4*10^11 (as
measured in external beamline) per spill of 1.6 s duration, in parallel to the
simultaneous work of two internal targets in the accelerator ring. An
additional crystal, placed in the external beamline, was deflecting a small
part of the extracted beam with intensity 10^7 protons toward another physics
experiment. Crystal-extracted beam had a typical size of 4 mm by 4 mm fwhm at
the end of the external beamline. Measurements for the extraction efficiency
and other characteristics at the simultaneous work of four experimental set-ups
are presented. With crystal working in the above-said regime during one month,
no degradation of channeling was observed. The studies of extraction efficiency
have been continued with new crystals.Comment: 6pp. Presented at EPAC 200
