Theory and Applications for Advanced Text Mining
Due to the growth of computer technologies and web technologies, we can easily collect and store large amounts of text data. We can believe that the data include useful knowledge. Text mining techniques have been studied aggressively in order to extract the knowledge from the data since late 1990s. Even if many important techniques have been developed, the text mining research field continues to expand for the needs arising from various application fields. This book is composed of 9 chapters introducing advanced text mining techniques. They are various techniques from relation extraction to under or less resourced language. I believe that this book will give new knowledge in the text mining field and help many readers open their new research fields
Ontology-based information extraction from learning management systems
In this work we present a system for information extraction from Learning Management Systems. This system
is ontology-based. It retrieves information according to the structure of the ontology to populate the ontology.
We graphically present statistics about the ontology data. These statistics present latent knowledge which is
difficult to see in the traditional Learning Management System. To answer questions about the ontology, a
question answering system was developed using Natural Language Processing in the conversion of the natural
language question into an ontology query language; Sumário:
Brute - Force Sentence Pattern Extortion from Harmful Messages for Cyberbullying Detection
Cyberbullying, or humiliating people using the Internet, has existed almost since the beginning ofInternet communication. The relatively recent introduction of smartphones and tablet computers has caused cyberbullying to evolve into a serious social problem. In Japan, members of a parent-teacher association (PTA)attempted to address the problem by scanning the Internet for cyber bullying entries. To help these PTA members and other interested parties confront this difficult task we propose a novel method for automatic detection of malicious Internet content. This method is based on a combinatorial approach resembling brute-force search algorithms, but applied in language classification. The method extracts sophisticated patterns from sentences and uses them in classification. The experiments performed on actual cyberbullying data reveal an advantage of our method vis-Ă -visprevious methods. Next, we implemented the method into an application forAndroid smartphones to automatically detect possible harmful content in messages. The method performed well in the Android environment, but still needs to be optimized for time efficiency in order to be used in practic
Institutional issues and perspectives in the management of fisheries and coastal resources in southeast Asia
In developing countries, institutional weaknesses and constraints are pervasive in the fisheries and coastal resources management sector. Legal, policy and institutional frameworks are not crafted to suit the unique features of fisheries and other coastal resources and this has resulted in mismatches and overlaps. This volume highlights the important institutional demands and challenges in fisheries and coastal resources management through case studies in four countries in Southeast Asia Ă» Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. The main focus is on the fisheries sector, a major resource in the coastal zone. Since issues in this sector cannot be divorced from issues affecting the integrated management of coastal resources, both are addressed in the discussion. This volume provides an introduction to the institutional milieu of coastal and fishery resources management in Southeast Asia.Fishery management, Marine resources, Institutional resources, Legal aspects, Governments, Southeast Asia,
Value-at-risk of carbon constraints : an input oriented approach of resource scarcity
The purpose of this study is to broaden the discussion on corporate enviromental risk exposure by integrating an oil scarcity factor. This broader approach can be utilized as a means of instigating a discussion on carbon risks beyond output oriented adaption and mitigation strategies. Even though the outcomes might not seem to be relevant for current economic activities, the recent discussion about oil prices affecting the global economy illustrates the future relevance of this topic; it is just a matter of time before risks related to future oil supply and endowment will emerge. --
