    Sentiment Analysis and Classification on Amazon Products using Improved Support Vector Machine for Multiclass Classification

    There is a huge increase in number of peoples who have been accessing many social networking sites especially user post or reviews for a specific product, company, brand, individual, forums and movies etc. These reviews are helpful in judging customer perception on certain thing. The development of algorithms that could automate the categorization of distinct comments based on feedback from consumers became an analyst project, and this automated classification process is known as sentiment analysis. This research main goal is to analyze Amazon product reviews using an approach to Machine Learning (ML) built around TF-IDF and then employ the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm to categorize the sentiment scores and sentences. SVM can handle binomial classification but the customer reviews is mostly classified into positive, negative and neutral and in some applications, it is fine grained into star ratings such 1-5 or sometimes 1-10. Also, in some applications features or attributes are high in number in which some are irrelevant. Hence, this work applies feature subset algorithm and improves the existing SVM to handle multiclass classification. The Sentiment analysis, Rapidminer tool is considered for classification and the results are visualized, assessed with suitable classification metrics

    A Novel Markovian Framework for Integrating Absolute and Relative Ordinal Emotion Information

    There is growing interest in affective computing for the representation and prediction of emotions along ordinal scales. However, the term ordinal emotion label has been used to refer to both absolute notions such as low or high arousal, as well as relation notions such as arousal is higher at one instance compared to another. In this paper, we introduce the terminology absolute and relative ordinal labels to make this distinction clear and investigate both with a view to integrate them and exploit their complementary nature. We propose a Markovian framework referred to as Dynamic Ordinal Markov Model (DOMM) that makes use of both absolute and relative ordinal information, to improve speech based ordinal emotion prediction. Finally, the proposed framework is validated on two speech corpora commonly used in affective computing, the RECOLA and the IEMOCAP databases, across a range of system configurations. The results consistently indicate that integrating relative ordinal information improves absolute ordinal emotion prediction.Comment: This work has been submitted to IEEE for possible publication.     Pruning of Error Correcting Output Codes by optimization of accuracy–diversity trade off

    Ensemble learning is a method of combining learners to obtain more reliable and accurate predictions in supervised and unsupervised learning. However, the ensemble sizes are sometimes unnecessarily large which leads to additional memory usage, computational overhead and decreased effectiveness. To overcome such side effects, pruning algorithms have been developed; since this is a combinatorial problem, finding the exact subset of ensembles is computationally infeasible. Different types of heuristic algorithms have developed to obtain an approximate solution but they lack a theoretical guarantee. Error Correcting Output Code (ECOC) is one of the well-known ensemble techniques for multiclass classification which combines the outputs of binary base learners to predict the classes for multiclass data. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for pruning the ECOC matrix by utilizing accuracy and diversity information simultaneously. All existing pruning methods need the size of the ensemble as a parameter, so the performance of the pruning methods depends on the size of the ensemble. Our unparametrized pruning method is novel as being independent of the size of ensemble. Experimental results show that our pruning method is mostly better than other existing approaches

    Sharing visual features for multiclass and multiview object detection

    We consider the problem of detecting a large number of different classes of objects in cluttered scenes. Traditional approaches require applying a battery of different classifiers to the image, at multiple locations and scales. This can be slow and can require a lot of training data, since each classifier requires the computation of many different image features. In particular, for independently trained detectors, the (run-time) computational complexity, and the (training-time) sample complexity, scales linearly with the number of classes to be detected. It seems unlikely that such an approach will scale up to allow recognition of hundreds or thousands of objects. We present a multi-class boosting procedure (joint boosting) that reduces the computational and sample complexity, by finding common features that can be shared across the classes (and/or views). The detectors for each class are trained jointly, rather than independently. For a given performance level, the total number of features required, and therefore the computational cost, is observed to scale approximately logarithmically with the number of classes. The features selected jointly are closer to edges and generic features typical of many natural structures instead of finding specific object parts. Those generic features generalize better and reduce considerably the computational cost of an algorithm for multi-class object detection

    Analyzing collaborative learning processes automatically

    In this article we describe the emerging area of text classification research focused on the problem of collaborative learning process analysis both from a broad perspective and more specifically in terms of a publicly available tool set called TagHelper tools. Analyzing the variety of pedagogically valuable facets of learners’ interactions is a time consuming and effortful process. Improving automated analyses of such highly valued processes of collaborative learning by adapting and applying recent text classification technologies would make it a less arduous task to obtain insights from corpus data. This endeavor also holds the potential for enabling substantially improved on-line instruction both by providing teachers and facilitators with reports about the groups they are moderating and by triggering context sensitive collaborative learning support on an as-needed basis. In this article, we report on an interdisciplinary research project, which has been investigating the effectiveness of applying text classification technology to a large CSCL corpus that has been analyzed by human coders using a theory-based multidimensional coding scheme. We report promising results and include an in-depth discussion of important issues such as reliability, validity, and efficiency that should be considered when deciding on the appropriateness of adopting a new technology such as TagHelper tools. One major technical contribution of this work is a demonstration that an important piece of the work towards making text classification technology effective for this purpose is designing and building linguistic pattern detectors, otherwise known as features, that can be extracted reliably from texts and that have high predictive power for the categories of discourse actions that the CSCL community is interested in
