Blockchain technology is an optional new technologies to manage the supply chain process. This technology helps to improve and solve the issue of transparency as well as monitor operations in the supply chain. The study found that the perceived benefits of Blockchain technology in the automotive industry, inter-organizational trust are the important factors that affect the acceptance of Blockchain in the supply chain process. Inter-organizational relationship has negative impact on Blockchain technology acceptance. The non-mediated power is a key factor that builds inter-organizational trust and leads to success in the technology application in this industry. The results can be used as a guideline for the automotive industry to apply Blockchain technologies to the operations

The role of information flow and technology in supply chain collaboration – a case study of Logwin logistics

Abstract: Owing to the challenges of today’s hyper-competitive business environment firms are increasingly realising that greater focus should be placed on collaboration across the supply chain, especially with respect to costs, information and technology. The positivism research philosophy was used in case approach to determine the role of information flow and technology in supply chain collaboration of a logistics services provider. The unit of analysis of the study was LOGWIN Logistics. The results reveal that that LOGWIN is dependent on technology to boost supply chain collaboration. In addition, the benefits derived from technology and information flow included increased end customer satisfaction, shorter lead times, improved information from between LOGWIN, its suppliers and its customers, as well as internal information flow. The findings suggest that technology and information flow does have a positive effect on supply chain collaboration. Management should invest in implementing technology and training of employees to enhance information flow and to boost supply chain collaboration

Sustainable Procurement & Sustainable Distribution Influence the Organizational Performance (Economic, Social and Environmental): Moderating Role of Governance and Collaboration at Thai Food Industry

    Get PDF
The prime goals of the current paper investigate the influence of SCM practices on organizational performance with moderating roles of ‘governor’ and ‘collaboration. The organizational performance was measured on the basis of three dimensions such as economic, social and environmental aspects. Data was collected from Thai food manufacturers and was tested visa Measurement Model and Structural Equation modeling. The study highlights influence of sustainable procurement and sustainable distribution or logistics to determine the organizational performance in Thai food industry. Moderating role of ‘governance’ and ‘collaboration’ were also examined and presented interesting outcomes. The research paper also focuses the need of considering various factors including business process, sustainability, collaboration, sustainable procurement, logistics or distribution with moderating role of governance and collaboration. Firms must strive for improving effectiveness of supply chain and organizational performance in highly competitive market

Assessing the Impact of Relational Governance on the Supply Chain Performances of Manufacturing Firms in Ghana

Over the years, there have been many challenges in supply chain management across the globe especially in the developing countries. There were challenges of quality control, risk management, finding right distributors to handle distribution, fragmented markets and many others. The most challenging issue in the supply chain management is the unpleasant relationship between the firms and their partners leading to many inconsistencies, uncertainties and losses in their operations and transactions leading to the assessment of both the direct and indirect impact of relational governance on supply chain performance of the manufacturing firms in Ghana. The study sought to assess the impact relational governance has directly and indirectly on supply chain performance. Data were collected and gathered through a survey questionnaire responded by 147 manufacturing firms in Ghana. The structural equation modelling was used to test the hypothesis and also validate the results. Findings indicate that the relational governance has a positive effect on supply chain performance and at the same time has an indirect effect on supply chain performance through both information sharing and quality of information. The study provides a hard evidence that the higher levels of information sharing and quality of information can lead to enhanced effect of relational governance on supply chain performance. Effect of Logistic Information Integration Capability on Performance of Manufacturing Firms: The Moderating Role of Supply Chain Linkages

    Get PDF
Several studies content that firms may improve their performance by integrating their logistic capabilities. But such relationships may be affected by other externalities. Therefore, this study determined the role of supply chain linkages as a moderator on the relationship between logistic information integration capability and firm performance of manufacturing firms. The study adopted explanatory research design of cross-sectional nature. The target population comprised of 750 manufacturing firms registered under Kenya Association of Manufacturers. Sample size of 442 firms was selected using stratified and simple random sampling approaches. The findings of the study demonstrated that logistic information integration capability positively and significantly affects firm performance, subject to moderation effect of supply chain linkages. The implication of the study emphasizes the need for firm managers to understand and find ways to effectively manage the interactions between logistic information integration capability and supply chain linkages in order to improve performance and meet the customer requirements satisfactorily. Therefore, this study provides empirical evidence in manufacturing firms that supply chain moderates the relationship between logistic information integration capability and firm performance

Outcome-Driven Supply Chain Perspective on Dry Ports

    Get PDF
The hinterland leg of maritime containerized transport as a part of supply chain has been increasingly pressured by larger volumes, as well as by a need to fulfill sustainability requirements that are expressed by social opinion and formal regulations. There is a potential to relieve this pressure through integration of a dry port, as a seaport’s inland interface, in the supply chain. Therefore, this paper aims to explain how a supply chain can benefit or enhance its outcomes of cost, responsiveness, security, environmental performance, resilience, and innovation, by the integration of a dry port. The data for this case study is collected through interviews and site visits from the privately owned Skaraborg dry port, Sweden; and the study is limited to the actors of the transport system involved in the development and operations of the dry port integrated setup. The results show that the six supply chain outcomes (cost, responsiveness, security, environmental performance, resilience, and innovation) are perceived by the actors as being desirable, and can be enhanced by the integration of a dry port in the supply chains. In particular, the enhancement of the supply chain outcomes can be achieved due to intermodality and reliability of rail transportation and customization of services associated with the dry port integrated setup, and by increasing the capacity of transportation system

The Impact of Compatibility on the Process Integration of the Supply Chain in Improving Firm Performance: The Mediating Effect of Information Technology Capability

This study investigates the impact of various dimensions of compatibility on the process integration of the supply chain, which leads toward the improvement of firms operational and market performance. Meanwhile, this study also investigates the mediating effect of information technology capabilities between the relationship of supply chain process integration (SCPI) and firm performance. For this purpose, a survey was conducted via a structured questionnaire using online data collection method from the supply chain and production managers of superstores in Thailand. Total of 395 responses were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) to test the hypotheses. The results proved the key important dimensions of compatibility facilitated SCPI, which contribute to the dynamic capability theory. Moreover, IT capabilities also proved as a key mediator, which have a partial influence on the relationship of SCPI and firm performance. Meanwhile, this study potentially contributes to the existing knowledge of supply chain management and open the new dimensions for future scholars to reveal this concept in detail
