Modeling complex mobile web applications from UI components

    Get PDF
Component Based Hypermedia Design Method (CBHDM) is a modeling methodology that allows creating mobile web applications by designing and configuring user interface components. Starting from models this methodology performs two transformations to finally generate the application source code using the MDA approach. In order to configure the user interface components this methodology creates a custom language that´s powerful enough for designing complex applications. This paper shows how to configure components for allowing complex database design and also includes a new feature on the model supporting different user roles assigning different screens to operate the system.WIS - X Workshop ingeniería de softwar

Model-Based Concerns Mashups for Mobile Hypermedia

    Get PDF
Mobile (or Physical) Hypermedia combines the navigational style typical of Web applications with the functionality of location and context-aware software. Users explore digital and physical relationships while accessing to information about their actual location, e.g. the object in front of them. Similar to “conventional” Web applications one might suffer usability problems when dealing with multiple informational concerns, but the situation gets worse because of screen size issues, the need to avoid user distraction, etc. In this paper we outline our model based approach for building mobile hypermedia applications by combining (“mashing up”) information corresponding to multiple concerns in a modular, usable way. Architectural issues are discussed and a simple example is presented together with its implementation.Laboratorio de Investigación y Formación en Informática Avanzad

Separation of Concerns in Mobile Hypermedia: Architectural and Modeling Issues

    Get PDF
Building Mobile Hypermedia and Web Applications is hard because of the myriad of concerns we need to face, such as those related to the specific application domain and those typical of mobile software. During the last years, we have been researching on modelling techniques for mobile hypermedia, and building infrastructure support for this and other kind of mobile and context aware software. In this chapter, we review the modelling features, design mechanisms and architectural support that we have developed to simplify the development process, and to obtain more flexible models and applications

    Get PDF

    Engineering Web Applications Using Roles

    No full text
In this paper we discuss the use of the role concept in the Web Engi- neering life cycle. We claim that introducing roles in the modeling and design armory of existing web engineering methods will improve their expression power and help to solve design problems that appear frequently in Web Appli- cations. We first survey those situations in which objects must change their properties according to the context in which they are used; next we introduce the role concept and discuss how it has been used so far in the software engi- neering community. Using existing methods (like UWE and OOHDM) as an example we show how to introduce roles during the Web Engineering process. We compare our work with other similar approaches and then outline some fur- ther work we are pursuing
