    A Study on the Implementation of Generative AI Services Using an Enterprise Data-Based LLM Application Architecture

    This study presents a method for implementing generative AI services by utilizing the Large Language Model (LLM) application architecture. With recent advancements in generative AI technology, LLMs have gained prominence across various domains. In this context, the research addresses the challenge of information scarcity and proposes specific remedies by harnessing LLM capabilities. The investigation delves into strategies for mitigating the issue of inadequate data, offering tailored solutions. The study delves into the efficacy of employing fine-tuning techniques and direct document integration to alleviate data insufficiency. A significant contribution of this work is the development of a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) model, which tackles the aforementioned challenges. The RAG model is carefully designed to enhance information storage and retrieval processes, ensuring improved content generation. The research elucidates the key phases of the information storage and retrieval methodology underpinned by the RAG model. A comprehensive analysis of these steps is undertaken, emphasizing their significance in addressing the scarcity of data. The study highlights the efficacy of the proposed method, showcasing its applicability through illustrative instances. By implementing the RAG model for information storage and retrieval, the research not only contributes to a deeper comprehension of generative AI technology but also facilitates its practical usability within enterprises utilizing LLMs. This work holds substantial value in advancing the field of generative AI, offering insights into enhancing data-driven content generation and fostering active utilization of LLM-based services within corporate settings

    The automatic summarisation of sports video is of growing importance with the increased availability of on-demand content. Consumers who are unable to view events live often have a desire to watch a summary which allows then to quickly come to terms with all that has happened during a sporting event. Sports forums show that it is not only summaries that are desirable but also the opportunity to share one’s own point of view and discuss the opinions with a community of similar users. In this paper we give an overview of the ways in which annotations have been used to augment existing visual media. We present SportsAnno, a system developed to summarise World Cup 2006 matches and provide a means for open discussion of events within these matches

    Assessment of cockpit interface concepts for data link retrofit

    The problem is examined of retrofitting older generation aircraft with data link capability. The approach taken analyzes requirements for the cockpit interface, based on review of prior research and opinions obtained from subject matter experts. With this background, essential functions and constraints for a retrofit installation are defined. After an assessment of the technology available to meet the functions and constraints, candidate design concepts are developed. The most promising design concept is described in detail. Finally, needs for further research and development are identified

    A distributed multimedia system (DMS) is an integrated communication, computing, and information system that enables the processing, management, delivery, and presentation of synchronized multimedia information with quality-of-service guarantees. Multimedia information may include discrete media data, such as text, data, and images, and continuous media data, such as video and audio. Such a system enhances human communications by exploiting both visual and aural senses and provides the ultimate flexibility in work and entertainment, allowing one to collaborate with remote participants, view movies on demand, access on-line digital libraries from the desktop, and so forth. In this paper, we present a technical survey of a DMS.     An expository investigation of the potential impact of the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) at NASA Lewis Research Center is described. To properly frame the subject, the paper contains a detailed survey of the components of Narrowband ISDN. The principles and objectives are presented as decreed by the Consultative Committee for International Telephone and Telegraph (CCITT). The various channel types are delineated and their associated service combinations are described. The subscriber-access network functions are explained pictorially via the ISDN reference configuration. A section on switching techniques is presented to enable the reader to understand the emergence of the concept of fast packet switching. This new technology is designed to operate over the high bandwidth, low error rate transmission media that characterizes the LeRC environment. A brief introduction to the next generation of networks is covered with sections on Broadband ISDM (B-ISDN), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), and Synchronous Optical Networks (SONET). Applications at LeRC are presented, first in terms of targets of opportunity, then in light of compatibility constraints.     STILL RECORDING AFRICAN MUSIC IN THE FIELD

    Field sound recordings are an indispensable source of data for ethnomusicologists. However, to my knowledge there are no standards or guidelines of how this data should be captured and managed. With the progress made in machine learning, it has become vital to record data in a way that also supports the retrieval of information about the music. This article describes a model developed for field recordings that aims to aid an objective data gathering process. This model, developed through an action research process that spanned multiple field recording sessions from 2009–2015, include recording equipment, production processes, the gathering of metadata as well as intellectual property rights. The core principles identified in this research are that field recording systems should be designed to provide accurate feedback as a means of quality control and should capture and manage metadata without relying on secondary tools. The major findings are presented in the form of a checklist that can serve as a point of departure for ethnomusicologists making field recordings

    Space Shuttle/TDRSS communication and tracking systems analysis

    In order to evaluate the technical and operational problem areas and provide a recommendation, the enhancements to the Tracking and Data Delay Satellite System (TDRSS) and Shuttle must be evaluated through simulation and analysis. These enhancement techniques must first be characterized, then modeled mathematically, and finally updated into LinCsim (analytical simulation package). The LinCsim package can then be used as an evaluation tool. Three areas of potential enhancements were identified: shuttle payload accommodations, TDRSS SSA and KSA services, and shuttle tracking system and navigation sensors.
