Enterprise Agility: Why Is Transformation so Hard?
Enterprise agility requires capabilities to transform, sense and seize new business opportunities more quickly than competitors. However, acquiring those capabilities, such as continuous delivery and scaling agility to product programmes, portfolios and business models, is challenging in many organisations. This paper introduces definitions of enterprise agility involving business management and cultural lenses for analysing large-scale agile transformation. The case organisation, in the higher education domain, leverages collaborative discovery sprints and an experimental programme to enable a bottom-up approach to transformation. Meanwhile the prevalence of bureaucracy and organisational silos are often contradictory to agile principles and values. The case study results identify transformation challenges based on observations from a five-month research period. Initial findings indicate that increased focus on organisational culture and leveraging of both bottom-up innovation and supportive top-down leadership activities, could enhance the likelihood of a successful transformation
Enterprise Experience into the Integration of Human-Centered Design and Kanban
he integration of Human-Centered Design (HCD) and Agile Software Development (ASD) promises the
development of competitive products comprising a good User Experience (UX). This study has investigated
the integration of HCD and Kanban with the aim to gain industrial experiences in a real world context. A
case study showed that requirements flow into the development process in a structured manner by adding a
design board. To this end, the transparency concerning recurring requirements increased. We contribute to
the body of knowledge of software development by providing practical insights into Human-Centered Agile
Development (HCAD). On one hand, it is shown that the integration of HCD and Kanban leads to a product
with a good UX and makes the development process more human-centered. On the other hand, we conclude

The Contemporary Understanding of User Experience in Practice
User Experience (UX) has been a buzzword in agile literature in recent years.
However, often UX remains as a vague concept and it may be hard to understand
the very nature of it in the context of agile software development. This paper
explores the multifaceted UX literature, emphasizes the multi-dimensional
nature of the concept and organizes the current state-of-the-art knowledge. As
a starting point to better understand the contemporary meaning of UX assigned
by practitioners, we selected four UX blogs and performed an analysis using a
framework derived from the literature review. The preliminary results show that
the practitioners more often focus on interaction between product and user and
view UX from design perspective predominantly. While the economical perspective
receives little attention in literature, it is evident in practitioners
writings. Our study opens up a promising line of request of the contemporary

Digital transformation in the arts : a case study
This paper considers the interaction between digital technology and cultural organisations and the
challenges and opportunities this presents for practice and for policy. The paper is based on one of
eight 'digital R&D' projects supported by NESTA, Arts Council England and the AHRC, designed to
analyse the effects of digital innovation in UK arts organisations.
The paper focuses on a series of residencies in three UK arts organisations. The research aims to
identify the cultural conditions which support or prevent short-term digital innovation becoming
'embedded' in the ongoing practice of a cultural organisation. The paper considers differing practices,
attitudes and expectations between creative technologists and arts organisations. These differing
'cultures of innovation' may help us to understand why digital innovations often fail to move beyond
temporary and pragmatic problem-solving towards more challenging, transformational effects on
organisational strategy and culture
Semantic business process management: a vision towards using semantic web services for business process management
Business process management (BPM) is the approach to manage the execution of IT-supported business operations from a business expert's view rather than from a technical perspective. However, the degree of mechanization in BPM is still very limited, creating inertia in the necessary evolution and dynamics of business processes, and BPM does not provide a truly unified view on the process space of an organization. We trace back the problem of mechanization of BPM to an ontological one, i.e. the lack of machine-accessible semantics, and argue that the modeling constructs of semantic Web services frameworks, especially WSMO, are a natural fit to creating such a representation. Looking for Reasons behind Success in Dealing with Requirements Change
During development, requirements of software systems are subject to change. Unfortunately, managing changing requirements can take a lot of time and effort. Yet some companies show a better management of changes in requirements than others. Why? What is it that makes some projects deal with changing requirements better than others? We pursue the long term goal of understanding the mechanisms used to successfully deal with change in requirements. In this paper we gather knowledge about the state-of-the-art and the state-of-practice. We studied eight software development projects in four different companies --large and small, inclined toward structured and toward agile principles of development--, interviewing their project managers and analyzing their answers. Our findings include a list of practical (rather than theoretical) factors affecting the ability to cope with small changes in requirements. Results suggest a central role of size as a factor determining the flexibility showed either by the organization or by the software development team. We report the research method used and validate our results via expert interviews, who could relate to our findings
