Assessing critical success factors for ERP implementation satisfaction: a study of consultants participation and user training

    Get PDF
An Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is a company wide information system that integrates all aspects of a business and promises one database, one application across the entire enterprise. ERP implementation has been an important activity for improving efficiency and is a critical investment that can significantly affect future performance of a company. Consultant participation and user training are essential factors that can contribute to ERP implementation satisfaction. Studies examining the effects of consultant participation and user training on ERP implementation satisfaction are rare. Thus, this present study was designed to fill this gap in research. A relevant research model was developed to test three (3) hypothesized paths among the study’s variables, namely consultant participation, user training, ERP implementation satisfaction. Data was collected by survey questionnaires from 109 of ERP users. The Smart PLS tool was used for data analysis. In sum, the results of this research show that (1) ERP implementation satisfaction depends on consultant participation especially on the quality of consultants’ services and user training. (2) User training plays a mediator role between consultant participation and ERP implementation satisfaction

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are at the core of every firm. Making people use this costly and time-consuming investment is one of the most important issues to deal with. The main objective of the present study is to find the key determinants that open the door to user satisfaction and adoption. A theoretical model was set and an online survey was conducted to understand ERP users' perspective on such matters. The outcome was the model validation an dthe understanding that top management support, training, and the system quality are important constructs to assess adoption user satisfaction. Infact, thelatter (systemquality) has a significant influence on the behaviour a lintention to use and also in the overall user satisfaction. As management support is a very relevant determinant to ERP usage. Accordingly, this study enlightens theory, by contributing to a new model of ERP adoption and satisfaction. It also provides relevant evidence to companies involved in the ERP implementation process.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Investigating End User Satisfaction in ERP Systems: An Analytical Approach

    Get PDF
Measuring the end user satisfaction is an important issue reported in many decades in ERP systems success and its implementation. Hence, instead of many success stories the failure is also reported many times about the ERP implementation process. It provides many benefits to the organizations i.e. central storage/backup, modular software, efficiency, easier, and collaboration between various departments. Therefore, it is widely used by many types of organizations to provide a single platform to them. Despite this, its adoption and implementation in not without problems. Ignoring many important factors is also a reason of failure of ERP implementation. So, this paper is focusing on three main factors to investigate the success of ERP systems that are human, technological and organization. A survey tool is used for the study as questionnaire. An analytical approach is proposed to investigate the success of ERP systems by explaining that which factor is more important for end user satisfaction in ERP. Analysis is done on the basis of variance explained by each critical success factor. More variance shows that the factor impacts more the success of ERP system. As a result, three factors are very important for successful ERP implementation which are training and support for users, to facilitate changes in the organizational structure, in the legacy systems and in the IT infrastructure and having external consultants

A Framework proposal for monitoring and evaluating training in ERP implementation project

During the last years some researchers have studied the topic of critical success factors in ERP implementations, out of which 'training' is cited as one of the most ones. Up to this moment, there is not enough research on the management and operationalization of critical success factors within ERP implementation projects.Postprint (published version

Integrating Enterprise Systems solutions in the curriculum of not only universities but all types of institutes of higher learning has been a major challenge for nearly ten years. Enterprise Systems education is surprisingly well documented in a number of papers on Information Systems education. However, most publications in this area report on the individual experiences of an institution or an academic. This paper focuses on the most popular Enterprise System - SAP - and summarizes the outcomes of a global survey on the status quo of SAP-related education. Based on feedback of 305 lecturers and more than 700 students, it reports on the main factors of Enterprise Systems education including, critical success factors, alternative hosting models, and students’ perceptions. The results show among others an overall increasing interest in advanced SAP solutions and international collaboration, and a high satisfaction with the concept of using Application Hosting Centers

A framework for the successful implementation of food traceability systems in China

    Get PDF
Implementation of food traceability systems in China faces many challenges due to the scale, diversity and complexity of China’s food supply chains. This study aims to identify critical success factors specific to the implementation of traceability systems in China. Twenty-seven critical success factors were identified in the literature. Interviews with managers at four food enterprises in a pre-study helped identify success criteria and five additional critical success factors. These critical success factors were tested through a survey of managers in eighty-three food companies. This study identifies six dimensions for critical success factors: laws, regulations and standards; government support; consumer knowledge and support; effective management and communication; top management and vendor support; and information and system quality

An Auditing Approach for ERP Systems Examining Human Factors that Influence ERP User Satisfaction

This paper tries to connect the successful implementation and operation of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) information systems with people and their characteristics through a pilot survey. It examines the human factors that influence ERP user satisfaction. The presented survey tests 14 hypotheses and is based on the model developed by Zviran, Pliskin & Levin [21]. An additional factor has been added to the specified model, the self-efficacy factor analyzed by Bandura [1]. The results are based on 250 ERP users that responded to the survey. The key findings that were revealed by data analysis were that none of the human socio-demographic characteristics do influence ERP user satisfaction. Additionally it was found that perceived usefulness and self-efficacy are the key directors of the ERP user satisfaction. Moreover suggestions are given about how the companies should handle ERP usage in order to develop the prerequisites for increasing user satisfaction and productivity accordingly.ERP Audit, User Satisfaction, Perceived Usefulness
