An Analysis of Storage Virtualization
Investigating technologies and writing expansive documentation on their capabilities is like hitting a moving target. Technology is evolving, growing, and expanding what it can do each and every day. This makes it very difficult when trying to snap a line and investigate competing technologies. Storage virtualization is one of those moving targets. Large corporations develop software and hardware solutions that try to one up the competition by releasing firmware and patch updates to include their latest developments. Some of their latest innovations include differing RAID levels, virtualized storage, data compression, data deduplication, file deduplication, thin provisioning, new file system types, tiered storage, solid state disk, and software updates to coincide these technologies with their applicable hardware. Even data center environmental considerations like reusable energies, data center environmental characteristics, and geographic locations are being used by companies both small and large to reduce operating costs and limit environmental impacts. Companies are even moving to an entire cloud based setup to limit their environmental impact as it could be cost prohibited to maintain your own corporate infrastructure. The trifecta of integrating smart storage architectures to include storage virtualization technologies, reducing footprint to promote energy savings, and migrating to cloud based services will ensure a long-term sustainable storage subsystem
Enhancing systems integration by incorporating business continuity drivers
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present a framework for developing an integrated operating environment (IOE) within an enterprise information system by incorporating business continuity drivers. These drivers enable a business to continue with its operations even if some sort of failure or disaster occurs.
Design/methodology/approach – Development and implementation of the framework are based on holistic and top-down approach. An IOE on server’s side of contemporary business computing is investigated in depth.
Findings – Key disconnection points are identified, where systems integration technologies can be used to integrate platforms, protocols, data and application formats, etc. Downtime points are also identified and explained. A thorough list of main business continuity drivers (continuous computing (CC) technologies) for enhancing business continuity is identified and presented. The framework can be utilized in developing an integrated server operating environment for enhancing business continuity.
Originality/value – This paper presents a comprehensive framework including exhaustive handling of enabling drivers as well as disconnection points toward CC and business continuity
Recover Data about Detected Defects of Underground Metal Elements of Constructions in Amazon Elasticsearch Service
This paper examines data manipulation in terms of data recovery using cloud computing and search engine. Accidental deletion or problems with the remote service cause information loss. This case has unpredictable consequences, as data must be re-collected. In some cases, this is not possible due to system features. The primary purpose of this work is to offer solutions for received data on detected defects of underground metal structural elements using modern information technologies. The main factors that affect underground metal structural elements' durability are the soil environment's external action and constant maintenance-free use. Defects can usually occur in several places, so control must be carried out along the entire length of the underground network. To avoid the loss of essential data, approaches for recovery using Amazon Web Service and a developed web service based on the REST architecture are considered. The general algorithm of the system is proposed in work to collect and monitor data on defects of underground metal structural elements. The result of the study for the possibility of data recovery using automatic snapshots or backup data duplication for the developed system.
Automating Business Process
Consistent presentation of the information is necessary to align stakeholders around the scope of the Program and formally gain their commitment. Reports play a major role in decision making and future planning for a financial teams and program directors. Generally, data is available when a transaction occurs and volume of data grows along with the organization. Maintaining historical and current data for reporting to stakeholders is a tough task and at times companies fail to report data accurately. Maintaining automated reporting for different modules of an organization in an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system is one way of providing accurate data reporting to business. There are many tools in current day market to report data but SAP reporting tools provide a better solution according to business requirements. SAP Business Objects (SAP BO) is one of the leading SAP reporting tools that provide a complete pack of solution to the client. Since this organization already had a huge implementation of SAP Business Warehousing (SAP BW), implementing of SAP BO on top of SAP BW is a easy solution and cost effective too. As a part of this project, elimination of highly complex reporting and replacement of obsolete technologies was also considered
Experience and Lessons learnt from running High Availability Databases on Network Attached Storage
The Database and Engineering Services Group of CERN's Information Technology Department supplies the Oracle Central Database services used in many activities at CERN. In order to provide High Availability and ease management for those services, a NAS (Network Attached Storage) based infrastructure has been setup. It runs several instances of the Oracle RAC (Real Application Cluster) using NFS (Network File System) as shared disk space for RAC purposes and Data hosting. It is composed of two private LANs (Local Area Network), one to provide access to the NAS filers and a second to implement the Oracle RAC private interconnect, both using Network Bonding. NAS filers are configured in partnership to prevent having single points of failure and to provide automatic NAS filer fail-over

EcoBlock: Grid Impacts, Scaling, and Resilience
Widespread deployment of EcoBlocks has the potential to transform today's electricity system into one that is more resilient, flexible, efficient and sustainable. In this vision, the system will consist of self- su cient, renewable-powered, block-scale entities that can deliberately adjust their net power exchange and can optimize performance, maintain stability, support each other, or disconnect entirely from the grid as needed. This report is intended as an independent analysis of the potential relationships, both constructive and adverse, between EcoBlocks and the grid
Development of Cloud Computing and Security Issues
In past three decades, the computing world is based on the Internet, featured by the rapid development and application of computer technology. The cloud computing model is one of the very important shapes of a new era. This technology based on the distributed computing, parallel computing, grid computing, Virtualization technologies, property- based remote attestation technologies, etc. The cloud computing market and development are growing rapidly and bringing up numerous challenges and big security issues of the today's world. Some issues concern on the cloud computing is the security and confidentiality of user data in terms of its location, relocation, availability and security. In this paper we will focus on the basic way of cloud computing development, growths and common security issues arising from the usage of cloud services.
