Improving Contact Center Demonstrations at Cisco Systems

    Get PDF
This project involved the design, construction, and implementation of a system to improve Cisco\u27s Contact Center demonstrations to potential customers. The system aimed to provide customized demonstration resources by industry vertical and geographic sales theater and streamline the demonstration creation process by Cisco sales representatives. By collaborating with Cisco sales representatives directly, the final deliverable is a set of demo resources that is likely to be used and ultimately increase Cisco\u27s Contact Center sales

Framework Programmable Platform for the Advanced Software Development Workstation (FPP/ASDW). Demonstration framework document. Volume 1: Concepts and activity descriptions

    Get PDF
The Framework Programmable Software Development Platform (FPP) is a project aimed at effectively combining tool and data integration mechanisms with a model of the software development process to provide an intelligent integrated software development environment. Guided by the model, this system development framework will take advantage of an integrated operating environment to automate effectively the management of the software development process so that costly mistakes during the development phase can be eliminated. The Advanced Software Development Workstation (ASDW) program is conducting research into development of advanced technologies for Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE)

    Helicopter Ship Board Landing System

    Get PDF
Relative navigation of an aircraft (fixed wing or helicopter) close to ships at sea is a unique navigation problem. Shipboard helicopter operations provide a difficult operational environment. Wind over deck and wake turbulence shed by ship super structure offer challenging and unpredictable conditions during takeoff and landing. This is especially true in the operational environment that includes sea-state six, with its associated twenty-foot waves and thirty-three knot winds. Anything other than calm seas can create pitch, roll, yaw, and heave of the landing platform. Different sea going vessels behave in a variety of ways due to their size, hull design, stabilization systems, etc. Of particular concern in this environment is the performance consistency during takeoff, landing and sling load re-supply operations. A helicopter pilot operating off such a platform must observe the heave, pitch, and roll motion of the landing platform and determine the landing contact time based on human reaction time as well as aircraft performance. In an attempt to automate this difficult task, a relative navigation system prototype has been jointly developed by Novatel and Boeing. This paper describes such a system. The relative navigation system consists of a pair of integrated Inertial Differential Global Positioning System (IDGPS) systems communicating with standard RTCA messages. A fixed integer carrier based solution enables the relative system to reduce the uncorrelated low latency position error between the two systems to less than 50 cm. The shipbased inertial unit provides its position, attitude, pseudorange and carrier measurements, as well as the position of an eccentric point (the landing mark) to the helicopter-based unit. The helicopter generates a precise carrier-based vector between the vessel and its antenna and uses this to compute a GPS position that has a high relative accuracy to the ship-based unit. This in turn is used to update the helicopter inertial unit so a low latency position can be generated there. From this, a high accuracy, low latency relative position is generated at the helicopter, along with the relative motion and attitude data required for safe and consistent landing or slinging operations. The system requirements and design are detailed, and an attempt is made to provide insight into the implementation difficulties and solutions. Test setup details and results are provided. Self-replicating systems: A systems engineering approach

    Get PDF
A first approach to conceptualize self-replicating systems was developed from past and present abstract theories. The engineering elements of self-replicating systems are defined in terms of a basic reference system. A number of options are investigated. The growth characteristics and their problems are analyzed, the mathematics of various exponential growth options are outlined, and the problems of universal parts production and systems closure are discussed. Selected areas of further study are defined and a 20 year development and demonstration program is presented

O&M Models for Ocean Energy Converters: Calibrating through Real Sea Data

    Get PDF
Of the cost centres that combine to result in Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE), O&M costs play a significant part. Several developers have calculated component costs, demonstrating how they can become commercially competitive with other forms of renewable energy. However, there are uncertainties relating to the O&M figures that can only be reduced through lessons learned at sea. This work presents an O&M model calibrated with data from real sea experience of a wave energy device deployed at the Biscay Marine energy Platform (BiMEP): the OPERA O&M Model. Two additional case studies, utilising two other O&M calculation methodologies, are presented for comparison with the OPERA O&M Model. The second case study assumes the inexistence of an O&M model, utilising a Simplified Approach. The third case study applies DTOcean’s (a design tool for ocean energy arrays) O&M module. The results illustrate the potential advantages of utilising real sea data for the calibration and development of an O&M model. The Simplified Approach was observed to overestimate LCOE when compared to the OPERA O&M Model. This work also shows that O&M models can be used for the definition of optimal maintenance plans to assist with OPEX reduction. The authors are grateful to the European commission for funding the OPERA and EnFAIT projects as part of the Horizon 2020 framework. The authors also thankful to Oceantec-Idom for providing feedback to OPERA model’s inputs. A special thanks to Shona Pennock and Donald Noble for their diligent proofreading of this paper

    Automated Pilot Advisory System

    Get PDF
An Automated Pilot Advisory System (APAS) was developed and operationally tested to demonstrate the concept that low cost automated systems can provide air traffic and aviation weather advisory information at high density uncontrolled airports. The system was designed to enhance the see and be seen rule of flight, and pilots who used the system preferred it over the self announcement system presently used at uncontrolled airports

    Security Analysis of Android Applications

    Get PDF
Nowadays, people can easily jump into learning programming on any platform they are interested in. It is the same with Android application development. However, security aspects during development are usually not considered in the first place. Sometimes testing an application's security has to be done in divergent environments and with different techniques, approaches, and tools. The more testing and investigation techniques used on an application; the more fields would be covered. Using static and dynamic analysis together can produce better security research coverage than using only one approach. The first and most important thing about cyber security is the theory. Developers must pay attention to many diverse parts of functions’ behaviors and be completely aware of the existing implementation of the built-in Android components. How can an Android application developer ensure that their application is not exposed to attackers? A feasible way to learn how to defend your application is to attempt to attack it. By examining penetration testing techniques, network monitoring, vulnerability showcases, and explanations, developers can answer how to find and take advantage of security weaknesses and threats in an application and how to come up with mitigations for it
