Publications of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, 1984
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) bibliography 39-26 describes and indexes by primary author the externally distributed technical reporting, released during calendar year 1984, that resulted from scientific and engineering work performed, or managed, by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Three classes of publications are included: (1) JPL Publications (82-, 83-, 84-series, etc.), in which the information is complete for a specific accomplishment; (2) articles from the quarterly Telecommunications and Data Acquisition (TDA) Program Report (42-series); and (3) articles published in the open literature
Detection processes for digital satellite modems
The aim of this study is to devise detectors for digital satellite
modems, that have tolerances to additive white Gaussian noise which
are as close as possible to that for optimal detection, at a fraction
of the equipment complexity required for optimal detection. Computer
simulation tests and theoretical analyses are used to compare the
proposed detectors. [Continues.
The Telecommunications and Data Acquisition Report
This publication provides reports on work performed for the Office of Space Tracking and Data Systems (OSTDS). It reports on the activities of the deep space network (DSN) and the Ground Communications Facility (GCF). Topics discussed on the operation of the DSN include: (1) spacecraft-ground communications; (2) station control and system technology; and (3) capabilities for new projects for systems implementation. The GCF compatibility with packets and data compression is discussed. In geodynamics, the publication reports on the application of radio interferometry at microwave frequencies for geodynamic measurements
