Artistic participatory video-making for science engagement
This paper uses theatre to frame reflexive discussions on the use of participatory video making for science engagement. The âJuxtaLearnâ research project is presented as a case-study that focuses on performance concepts such as audience, purpose, improvisation or final production as a lens for supporting technology-enabled creative exploration. Three different approaches were taken to creative participatory video making processes: co-creation by learners, as a communication tool for researchers and as a public engagement tool. Differing expectations about the timing and aim of the research process created considerable debate among the research team regarding the control of and purpose of filmmaking. It was not the topic of debate within the film that was deemed controversial, but more who, when and in what ways these debates occurred. Theatrical and HCI concepts of audience, performance ownership, improvisation and storyboarding, boundary object creation, participation and boundary creatures are foci of debate within the project
Inside innovation. Year 2. An evaluation of the second year of delivery of a project promoting innovative thinking amongst Prison Service staff
The Inside Innovation programme is the result of a partnership between Media For Development (MFD) and UnLtd. The Inside Innovation programme forms part of MFDâs multi-award winning Inside Job initiative that operates within the criminal justice system in the United Kingdom.
MFD staff are responsible for supporting applications to UnLtd for funded awards for good project ideas generated from staff working in the prison sector. In line with equivalent posts at UnLtd, the Development Manager supports Award Winners throughout the lifespan of their projects.
During the first year of service delivery, Inside Innovation operated in two prisons, HMP Wandsworth and HMP Downview. During the second year of service delivery, Inside Innovation has been established in two further prisons, HMP Brixton and HMP Highdown

The aim of the paper is to analyse and present the preliminary findings of the EU FP7 funded CRe-AM project for the Art, Media, and Architecture sectors. This project bridges communities of technology providers and innovators with the creative industries, with the aim to build sector-specific dynamic roadmaps for the future of the European creative industries by examining the current state-of-the-art tools, technologies, processes, and practices supporting the creative process against the future scenarios envisioned by stakeholders in these sectors.This work was carried out as part of CRe-AM project, which is supported by European Commission (grant agreement n°612451)

Using protocol analysis to explore the creative requirements engineering process
Protocol analysis is an empirical method applied by researchers in cognitive psychology and behavioural analysis. Protocol analysis can be used to collect, document and analyse thought processes by an individual problem solver. In general, research subjects are asked to think aloud when performing a given task. Their verbal reports are transcribed and represent a sequence of their thoughts and cognitive activities. These verbal reports are analysed to identify relevant segments of cognitive behaviours by the research subjects. The analysis results may be cross-examined (or validated through retrospective interviews with the research subjects). This paper offers a critical analysis of this research method, its approaches to data collection and analysis, strengths and limitations, and discusses its use in information systems research. The aim is to explore the use of protocol analysis in studying the creative requirements engineering process.<br /
