Certification is a determination given by a professional organization to a person to show that a person has competence, able to do a specific job or task. The management of certificates at PT Markco International is still carried out in a simple manner using Microsoft Office applications, starting from managing personal data, passing person status, numbering and issuing certificates. The design of this Certificate Management Information System is intended to provide a better solution, namely a web-based information system that can convert the currently running manual system into a computerized system using a database. Waterfall software development method and data collection techniques by conducting observations and literature studies are applied in the development of this program. This design discusses the process of managing personal data, registration agencies and certificates. As a result, the certificate management program that has been created can manage related information such as data on persons, agencies, certificate categories, registrations and certificates. This proves that the Certificate Management Information System Design at PT Markco International can manage the certificate management process well

This document provides a progress report for the IT/IS final year project. This project is called 'Tacit Knowledge Database Management'. Through this research, I will come out with the best method for storing information in the database. The study is about the continuation of exiting system done by Mr. Ho Yik Min (Acquisition of Tacit Knowledge Using Intervention Method). The further research are more focus on the increasing of the number of intervention and the arrangement or organizing the knowledge captured in the database in order to improve the system. Knowledge Management taxonomy and ontology also have been studied to expand the current work. The current system can be proven to be able to capture tacit knowledge. Thus, knowledge captured should be organized and tagged so that it can be arranged and stored accordingly to facilitate knowledge retrieval process and knowledge upgrade. As the knowledge grows, the system would be able to store and retrieve knowledge more effectively and efficiently. Tacit knowledge is when a person reflects upon theory in the light of praxis or practical judgment, the form of knowledge that results is personal. The entire introduction, problem statement, objectives, and the scope ofthe studies for the project will befurther explained in Chapter 1 - INTRODUCTION. This document also gives further information about the system the literature review/theory section. This section includes the standard features of database system, as well as the benefits from using the database system. Thus we can see that what we are looking at are 'human' factors, and this links to the previous section relating to data, information and knowledge showing that knowledge management is a technological 'fix', via structuring a good database system. One of the most important factors that become clear is that the issue of trust needs to be taken very seriously, such as the trust of technology solution, fellow workers, and without trust knowledge will not be shared

A Platform Independent Web-Based Data Managementn System For Random Access File

With the advent of the Web, the Internet has evolved into a user-friendly medium capable of high speed, on demand information delivery. Putting data onto the World Wide Web in the form of a fully accessible, searchable database can open up a wide variety of possibilities for teaching, learning and research. There are many different types of web-based database management system (DBMS), e.g., Oracle, Informix/Illustra, IBM DB2, Object Design, ranging from small systems that run on personal computers to huge systems that run on mainframes. However, these systems have limitations such as being platform dependent, not portable and expensive. This thesis describes the development of WebDB, a platform independent webbased data management system using Java servIets and random access files to address the problems. It is developed in order to provide the management functions to WebEd2000's database. WebEd2000 is a working prototype of Web-based distance learning system developed at the Broadband and ATM Research Group, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). It enables delivering conventional lecture notes over the Web and providing various tools to help in managing and maintaining course materials in a server. The WebDB approach is for the ease of the centralized management of database administrator over the WebEd2000 users and maintains the database. It also enables instructors to access to their database and update it when necessary. Instead of WebEd2000 database, the system allows its users to put another database on the server. WebDB is mainly developed using the combination of Java servlets and JavaScript technologies. The server-side servlets are used to handle the requests from client and the responses from server. The random access file served as database repository in the database server where all the data is stored. The client-side JavaScript is used to enable DHTML features and perform less-security-concern processes in order to reduce the workload of the web-server. Lastly, WebEd can be easily set up and deployed in any platform and web-servers with minimal modifications. Portability is achieved by utilizing Java technology for the system applications and random access file as the data repository

The internet has been the most popular ways for sharing information in recent years. As the number of publicly available site increase, the users demand for more dynamic content has also increased. This has lead to a proliferation of technologies available to serve up dynamic content. Currently the school library database system has been created as a MS Access 97 application, a stand-alone database which consists of a static site. MS Access provides an easy user interface, but it can only be used as a personal or single-user application and managing limited amount of data. The objective of this project is to develop and implement a database-driven web-based library system using MySQL (data management platform), PHF' (server-side scripting language) and Apache (web server). The advantage of implementing a database-driven web-based is that the unlimited access for looking up and searching for information in the database which also known as on-line search mechanism. An authenticated and a strict access control by password will apply to the administrative user in editing and maintenance operations. This system also implements a read-only, non-authentisized interface to serve other web user which should be available on a 24x7 basis. (Author's abstract

Given the acute shortage of housing in Nigeria, most states governments’ have been making attempts to reduce the housing deficit through direct public housing construction. The 777 Housing Estate is one of such estates currently under the control and management of Borno State Housing Corporation. The efficient management of these housing estates is dependent on the availability of good, reliable and timely information, which is not feasible under the current manual method of record keeping by the Borno State Housing Corporation. This study essentially developed a Property Information System using GIS techniques. It involved the scanning of the layout plan of the study area and then geo-referencing in ArcGIS 10.2 using GPS coordinates of reference points obtained from prominent positions within the Housing Estate. All housing units and other features within the Housing Estate were digitally delineated (digitized). Records of tenancy of house owners were extracted from their personal files domiciled at the Borno State Housing Corporation to create an attribute database, which was later, integrated with the digitized house parcels. In addition, a digital camera was used to capture the passport photograph of each house owner and hyperlinked to the digitized house parcels to create a robust and reliable GIS-based property information system. Since the system is comprised of both spatial and attributes data for each housing unit in digital form, it is possible to edit, maintain, rectify and keep property records up-to-date with minimum efforts. The system created was able to support query analysis to aid the effective and efficient management of the 777 Housing Estate by the Borno State Housing Corporation. It is recommended that the Borno State Housing Corporation (BSHC) should establish a GIS unit that would see to the computerization of all its analogue data into digital formats. PubMed (http://www.nxbi.nlm.nih.gou/entrez/) is the standard public database system for publications in medical and biological fields. Every registered paper in this database is assigned a unique ID number, PMID. Detailed information for a given paper can be obtained from the database using PMID as a key. Recently, applications of Content Management System (CMS) have become widespread for constructing WWW portal sites. Taking advantage of these resources for neuroinformatics. we have applied the CMS technologies for providing a data sharing environment in the laboratory. In this paper, we present a bibliographic database module, PubMedPDF, which can be used on a PHP- based CMS, XOOPS. The module is capable of managing PDF (Portable Document Format) reprint files in addition to their bibliographical information provided by PubMed. Registered literature information is automatically indexed based on the title, authors, year of publication, journal and key words in abstracts. The system may be highly useful for literature management not only for personal or laboratory use, but also for neuroinformatics portal sites
