Challenges and influential factors in ERP adoption and implementation

The adoption and implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is a challenging and expensive task that not only requires rigorous efforts but also demands to have a detailed analysis of such factors that are critical to the adoption or implementation of ERP systems. Many efforts have been made to identify such influential factors for ERP; however, they are not filtered comprehensively in terms of the different perspectives. This paper focuses on the ERP critical success factors from five different perspectives such as: stakeholders; process; technology; organisation; and project. Results from the literature review are presented and 19 such factors are identified that are imperative for a successful ERP implementation, which are listed in order of their importance. Thus, ERP systems are considered as a principal source to provide imperative information vital for strategic decision making process. On the contrary, ERP systems adoption and implementation is also highly considered as a challenging and expensive process that not only requires rigorous efforts but also demands to have an exhaustive investigation of influential factors that are critical to the adoption and implementation of ERP systems. As a result, the authors exhibit that it is of great significance to investigate this area within SSOs. In so doing, this paper thus focuses on the ERP critical success factors from five different categories such as: stakeholders; process; technology; organisation; and project based on the literature analysis. These perspectives comprise of 24 factors that are imperative for a successful ERP adoption and implementation. These factors are validated through an in-depth qualitative single case study based research. The findings from the literature and empirical demonstrate that most of the factors influencing the decision making process for ERP adoption and implementation are highly significant with exception to few that have either low or medium importance

Choosing the Right Software in Supporting the Successful of Enterprise ERP Implementation

Enterprise Resource Planning is an integrated information system that involves many parties in the company's resources. Success factors in implementing ERP in addition to management is also supported by the implementation of adequate software. Critical success factors in the implementation is not perfect because it basically creates tension between resources are bridged with a ERP software integration appropriate to support the company's productivity. This paper outlines a summary of the procedures and how to implement ERP software to support the success of the previous research. Factors that led to the financial costs of ERP implementation risks are also considered in the selection of this software. Survey methodology used in this study as well as the implementation of measures that should be used as guidelines for software development-ready. The results showed that the full-time project managers choose the right, training personnel tend to bring a successful project implementation. This is impacting on the integration and application of software risks that will be applied to a particular time period. Given this research is expected the decision makers in the organization can improve enterprise information systems implementation in terms of implementation of software systems in accordance with company objectives

Erp Implementation: an Investigation Into Social Capital and Knowledge Extraction in the Public Sector.

The elements of a successful Enterprise Resource Planning implementation strategy have been widely researched in the information technology field. Many have sought to compile a complete list of attributes that, if utilized, would guarantee a successful ERP implementation while also adhering to relative time and budget constraints. While several critical success factors have been identified and further enabled higher success rates in evolving ERP implementation strategy, there appears to be room for additional improvement. Extracting essential corporate knowledge from existing information systems in effort to implement an ERP solution is often one of the most challenging tasks of the implementation project, particularly for public sector organizations having deeply-rooted business processes that have evolved over many years. A managers view of critical success factors necessary for the successful implementation of ERP

Organisations look to enterprise resource planning (ERP) as a significant strategic tool of competition. ERP plays an important role in today's enterprise management and is beginning to be the backbone of organisations. Although ERP has been recognised as a useful tool, in practice, there are many difficulties in compelling people to implement it effectively. In this case, how to help ERP's future effective implementation has already attracted the attention of several researchers. The goal of this research was to increase the knowledge base regarding Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software implementation in the public sector. To this end, factors regarding benefits sought through ERP system implementation and critical factors surrounding successful ERP implementation were identified. In addition, the perception of project team members' satisfaction with modules implemented and their concerns about implementing ERP software were identified in this study. The results of this study provided recommendations for public sector organisations in order to increase their opportunity for successful ERP system implementation. However, there is no reason why this information cannot be considered to be useful to private sector organisations when considering ERP implementation projects. The literature review and results of this study suggested that the benefits sought during ERP system implementation included increased standardisation, better reporting, and reduced operational costs were recognised as goals of ERP software implementation, with the overarching goal to improve efficiency. Factors that were important to successful ERP system implementations were top management support, knowledgeable and experienced project managers and knowledgeable and committed team members. The study included recommendations for organisations to fully research ERP functionality prior to implementation, to implement strong change management, use other means of measuring return on investment, ensure employee buy-in and top management involvement and to avoid scope creep at all cost. In addition, a key element is to undertake some form of benchmarking exercise of existing systems prior to commencement as a measure of success of implementation of all or various elements of ERP
