Further discussions on the security of a nominative signature scheme

    Get PDF
A nominative signature scheme allows a nominator (or signer) and a nominee (or veriΒ―er) to jointly generate and publish a signature in such a way that only the nominee can verify the signature and if nec- essary, only the nominee can prove to a third party that the signature is valid. In a recent work, Huang and Wang proposed a new nominative signature scheme which, in addition to the above properties, only allows the nominee to convert a nominative signature to a publicly veriΒ―able one. In ACISP 2005, Susilo and Mu presented several algorithms and claimed that these algorithms can be used by the nominator to verify the validity of a published nominative signature, show to a third party that the signature is valid, and also convert the signature to a publicly veriΒ―able one, all without any help from the nominee. In this paper, we point out that Susilo and Mu\u27s attacks are actually incomplete and in- accurate. In particular, we show that there exists no eΒ±cient algorithm for a nominator to check the validity of a signature if this signature is generated by the nominator and the nominee honestly and the Decisional DiΒ±e-Hellman Problem is hard. On the other hand, we point out that the Huang-Wang scheme is indeed insecure, since there is an attack that allows the nominator to generate valid nominative signatures alone and prove the validity of such signatures to a third party

Efficient Construction of Nominative Signature Secure under Symmetric Key Primitives and Standard Assumptions on Lattice

Nominative signature is a cryptographic primitive where two parties collude to produce a signature. It is a user certification system and has applications in variety of sectors where nominee cannot trust heavily on the nominator to validate nominee’s certificate and only targeted entities are allowed to verify signature on sensitive data. We provide a new construction for nominative signature from standard assumptions on lattice. Our construction relies on collision resistant preimage sampleable function and symmetric key primitives like collision resistant pseudorandom function and zero knowledge proof system ZKB++ for Boolean circuits. We provide a detailed security analysis and show that our construction achieves security under unforgeability, invisibility, impersonation and non-repudiation in existing model. Furthermore, our construction exhibits non-transferability. The security under non-repudiation is achieved in the quantum random oracle model using Unruh transform to ZKB++

Agreement attraction in Serbian: decomposing markedness

Published online 18 July 2016Asymmetric number attraction effects have been typically explained via a privative markedness account: plural nouns are more marked than singular ones and thus stronger attractors. However, this account does not explain results from tripartite systems, in which a third number value is available, like paucal. Here we tested whether attraction effects can be driven by specific markedness sub-components, such as frequency/naturalness of use, using Serbian, in which participles can agree with masculine subjects in singular, plural and paucal. We first conducted a naturalness judgment task, finding the following naturalness/frequency pattern: singular, plural<paucal. In a subsequent forced-choice task, we presented participants with preambles containing a singular, a plural or a paucal headnoun (the castle[Sg] /two castles[Pauc]β€Š/the castles[Pl]) modified by singular/plural/paucal attractors (with the window[Sg]β€Š/with two windows[Pauc]β€Š/with the windows[Pl]). Three options were provided to complete the sentence (resembles[Sg]β€Š/resemble[Pauc]β€Š/resemble[Pl] gothic architecture). Both accuracy and reaction times (RTs) were collected. Accuracy data reflected the naturalness/frequency pattern, with paucal being the strongest attractor, and plural and singular attracting equally. However, reaction times showed a difference between singular and plural, suggesting co-influence of both frequency/naturalness and morphological markedness. We emphasize the necessity of re-defining markedness and testing attraction through different markedness sub-components (i.e. frequency/naturalness) to explain attraction cross-linguistically.This research was partially funded by the P1_2014_1_38 (B.R and S.M) and PRE_2015_1_0320 (B.R.) grants from the Basque Government, the PSI2012-32350 and PSI2015-65694-P grants from the Spanish Government (N.M.), the Gipuzkoa Fellowship Program (S.M.) and by the grant Centro de Excelencia Severo Ochoa SEV-2015-0490

Apocalypse and recuperation: Blake and the maw of commerce

The paper is a "materialist" reading of Blake's illuminated works. It examines the copperplate method itself as the main theme of Blake's work, and also as a potentially practical means of conveying Blake's art to its intended audience. The question of audience must be at the center of any avowedly prophetic project. Did Blakean production actually facilitate reception? Are we the audience it sought? What forms of supplementary reproduction are necessary for modern discourse on Blake, and what are the effects of such mediation? To what extent does reproduction undermine. sublate, cancel or recuperate Blakean priorities even as it seeks to represent them? What do we actually read when we read a reproduction? The paper also thinks through the Blakean problem to a broader consideration of artistic projects operating marginally to the predominant cultural economy. and of their relation to criticism
