Some new efficient multipoint iterative methods for solving nonlinear systems of equations

It is attempted to put forward a new multipoint iterative method of sixth-order convergence for approximating solutions of nonlinear systems of equations. It requires the evaluation of two vector-function and two Jacobian matrices per iteration. Furthermore, we use it as a predictor to derive a general multipoint method. Convergence error analysis, estimating computational complexity, numerical implementation and comparisons are given to verify applicability and validity for the proposed methods. This research was supported by Islamic Azad University - Hamedan Branch, Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnologia MTM2011-28636-C02-02 and Universitat Politecnica de Valencia SP20120474.Lotfi, T.; Bakhtiari, P.; Cordero Barbero, A.; Mahdiani, K.; Torregrosa Sánchez, JR. AbstractA biparametric family of four-step multipoint iterative methods of order sixteen to solve nonlinear equations are developed and their convergence properties are established. The optimal efficiency indices are all found to be 161/5≈1.741101. Numerical examples as well as comparison with existing methods are demonstrated to verify the developed theory

New modifications of Newton-type methods with eighthorder convergence for solving nonlinear equations

    Get PDF
The aims of this paper are, firstly, to define a new family of the Thukral and Petkovic type methods for finding zeros of nonlinear equations and secondly, to introduce new formulas for approximating the order of convergence of the iterative method. It is proved that these methods have the convergence order of eight requiring only four function evaluations per iteration. In fact, the optimal order of convergence which supports the Kung and Traub conjecture have been obtained. Kung and Traub conjectured that the multipoint iteration methods, without memory based on n evaluations, could achieve optimal convergence order 2n-1.  Thus, new iterative methods which agree with the Kung and Traub conjecture for n = 4  have been presented. It is observed that our proposed methods are competitive with other similar robust methods and very effective in high precision computations

Cordero, J.L. Hueso, E. Martinez, and J.R. Torregrosa [Increasing the convergence order of an iterative method for nonlinear systems, Appl. Math. Lett. 25 (2012), pp. 2369-2374], that increases by two units the convergence order of an iterative method. The main idea is to compose a given iterative method of order p with a modification of Newton's method that introduces just one evaluation of the function, obtaining a new method of order p+2, avoiding the need to compute more than one derivative, so we improve the efficiency index in the scalar case. This procedure can be repeated n times, with the same approximation to the derivative, obtaining new iterative methods of order p+2n. We perform different numerical tests that confirm the theoretical results. By applying this procedure to Newton's method one obtains the well known fourth order Ostrowski's method. We finally analyse its dynamical behaviour on second and third degree real polynomials. This research was supported by Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad under grant PGC2018-095896-B-C22 and by the project of Generalitat Valenciana Prometeo/2016/089.Hueso, JL.; Martínez Molada, E.; Teruel-Ferragud, C. An optimal three-point eighth-order iterative method without memory for solving nonlinear equations with its dynamics

We present a three-point iterative method without memory for solving nonlinear equations in one variable. The proposed method provides convergence order eight with four function evaluations per iteration. Hence, it possesses a very high computational efficiency and supports Kung and Traub's conjecture. The construction, the convergence analysis, and the numerical implementation of the method will be presented. Using several test problems, the proposed method will be compared with existing methods of convergence order eight concerning accuracy and basin of attraction. Furthermore, some measures are used to judge methods with respect to their performance in finding the basin of attraction.Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1508.0174

Modified Newton method to determine multiple zeros of nonlinear equations

    Get PDF
New one-point iterative method for solving nonlinear equations is constructed.  It is proved that the new method has the convergence order of three. Per iteration the new method requires two evaluations of the function.  Kung and Traub conjectured that the multipoint iteration methods, without memory based on n evaluations, could achieve maximum convergence order2n-1  but, the new method produces convergence order of three, which is better than expected maximum convergence order of two.  Hence, we demonstrate that the conjecture fails for a particular set of nonlinear equations. Numerical comparisons are included to demonstrate exceptional convergence speed of the proposed method using only a few function evaluations
