Mobiilirakenduste testimise alaste teadusartiklite arv on viimastel aastatel visalt suurenenud. In recent years the amount of scientific papers published on the topic of mobile applications has significantly increased. However, few researchers test their assumptions and solutions in industry. This thesis aims to provide an overview of what current scientific literature considers problems and potential solutions in mobile application testing, and compare it to opinions of industry professionals. A literature review is performed to extract the list of problems and potential solutions, after which representatives of six Estonian companies involved in the field are interviewed to verify whether the problems and solutions proposed in the literature are relevant for industry. The study reveals that while the relevance of each problem is highly variable from one company to another, there are some key problems that are generally considered vital both by research and industry. However, the solution concepts proposed by scientific literature are often too theoretical, general or outdated to be of much interest to industry professionals

Development of a Logistics Decision Support Tool for Small and Medium Companies to Evaluate the Impacts of Environmental Regulations in California

UC-ITS-2020-43Satisfying the demand for goods requires the movement of commercial and private vehicles, which are responsible for multiple negative impacts including noise, emissions, and traffic congestion. While efficiency is crucial for sustainable and profitable freight transportation, operations are typically inefficient with respect to emissions and social impacts. The reasons for such inefficiency are diverse, including the need for several attempts to complete a delivery and the under usage of vehicle capacity. The arrival of zero-emission and near-zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles may reduce (tailpipe) emissions. Multiple government agencies have supported the development and promotion of cleaner vehicles through strategies such as economic incentives to support purchases and disincentives to using internal combustion engine vehicles. However, small- and medium-sized companies face challenges in adopting cleaner vehicles, either because of high purchase costs or because the volume of their operations may not justify the expense. To address this issue, this work evaluates cooperative strategies between noncompeting companies that would exploit economies of scale through the sharing of vehicle capacities in joint routing. The work develops a decision support tool named Cargo Aggregator Beta 1.0, which provides companies willing to cooperate with an efficient joint route to pick-up and deliver cargo from different origins and destinations. The tool, based on an extension of the vehicle routing problem, allows users to consider different vehicle capacities, decide on charging and/or refueling points, consider multiple depots, and guarantee the completion of all deliveries in a general time window. The tool can be used to better understand the impact of sustainability policies that would limit the amount of pollutant emissions generated, or policies that seek to restrict fleet composition. Numerical analyses using study cases in California show the potential benefits of implementing these collaborations in reducing both costs and emissions

Mobile applications and devices have played a significant role in boosting global businesses that encompass various domains such as health, education, banking, and transportation. These tools have become indispensable for everyday activities, and its applications have been developing rapidly with diverse features and platforms. However, this has created new problems and security challenges. To ensure the quality and security of these applications, a rigorous and systematic testing using cloud-based environment is required. By employing systematic mapping study (SMS) method, this paper will examine the empirical studies that address the issues on cloud-based mobile application testing. This paper presents a total of 23 primary studies that investigate cloud based mobile application testing and the effect of Testing as a Service (TaaS). The majority of these studies (56.5%) contribute to literature with a number of framework proposals. A large proportion of the studies (60.9%) analyzed Android applications, and usually supported a single type of mobile app testing. Other than that, the majority of the studies (52.2%) have failed to investigate the outcomes of TaaS, despite a plethora of services that offers TaaS. The SMS method conducted in this paper has identified gaps in literature, which are: 1) there is a lack of general and scalable approaches to support the diverse types of mobile app testing for applications using various platforms, and 2) the lack of evaluation methods such as case study to validate the proposed approaches
