Using Infra-Red Beacons as Unobtrusive Markers for Mobile Augmented Reality

    Get PDF
The main two approaches for vision based mobile augmented reality systems are either those employing fiducial markers or those which track natural features in the environment to estimate camera pose information. Whilst marker based systems are relatively simple to implement and are robust they present difficulties for wide scale deployment as they are obtrusive and their size is proportional to the distance from which they need to be used. However, the alternate approaches of marker less systems present significant computational challenges, can be highly problematic in poor light conditions, and are independent of scale. In the paper we present a novel solution using Infra Red LEDā€™s as markers that overcomes many of these limitations in that they are: invisible to the human sight but can tracked by phone camera optics; can be used in varied light conditions; structured to provide scale; and significantly reduce the computational overhead

Aging detection of glass disc insulator by using infrared camera

Suitable diagnostic techniques for outdoor glass insulators are important for ensuring the reliablilty and stability of power system. The possibility of insulator flash-over increases, especially when the insulator is covered by pollution layers or has an internal defect. In this paper, a new technique to detect the pollution level and invisible damage by measuring the surface temperature of glass disc insulators is proposed. A high definition camera had been used to determine the surface temperatures of four glass insulators. The effects ofapplied voltage on the surface temperature and its distribution were studied. The results show the possibility of using the infrarad camera to detect the aging level and invisible damages of the glass insulators

CAMERA PRIVACY WITH PURE SOFTWARE (DRIVER) SOLUTION

More and more usage in not only for business video conferencing call, but also applicable to distance learning for education due to COVID-19 impact. Thus, the camera privacy is also more important, especially in-market product, which didnā€™t support camera privacy feature neither with mechanical(Physical shutter door), nor electric solution(e-shutter) to close the camera image while the user doesnā€™t want to the other people to see him. This camera privacy feature bundled in camera driver that can be very easy and sooner to provide the solution to in-market product, which provide a set of hotkey to be visible or invisible while the camera is in-used

Micrographia of the twenty-first century: from camera obscura to 4D microscopy

    Get PDF
In this paper, the evolutionary and revolutionary developments of microscopic imaging are overviewed with a perspective on origins. From Alhazenā€™s camera obscura, to Hooke and van Leeuwenhoekā€™s two-dimensional optical micrography, and on to three- and four-dimensional (4D) electron microscopy, these developments over a millennium have transformed humansā€™ scope of visualization. The changes in the length and time scales involved are unimaginable, beginning with the visible shadows of candles at the centimetre and second scales, and ending with invisible atoms with space and time dimensions of sub-nanometre and femtosecond. With these advances it has become possible to determine the structures of matter and to observe their elementary dynamics as they unfold in real time. Such observations provide the means for visualizing materials behaviour and biological function, with the aim of understanding emergent phenomena in complex systems

    ZERO SECOND MEETING JOINS

    Get PDF
Techniques are described herein for causing a client to pre-join a meeting while using signaling to indicate that it is ā€œinvisibleā€ and should not show up in the roster. Furthermore, it does not render any incoming Audio/Video (AV), and does not send any from the camera or microphone. When the user joins, the client starts rendering the media it has already been receiving and then starts sending camera and microphone content. This makes the join process more like an ā€œunmuteā€ operation, which is entirely local and thus can happen instantly
