A dynamic web server based appointment calendar

    Get PDF
The most advanced server side technology, Microsoft .NET Framework and Microsoft SQL, will be used to develop a dynamic web server based calendar to handle appointment and meeting scheduling. It s a new calendar in architecture and functions compared to the traditional calendars. The existing commercial calendars, such as Outlook calendar, iCal and MeetingMaker, have a common weakness: unique calendar software should be installed in the user s computer. They are all not web based calendars. Some existing web calendars, like Yahoo calendar, have very limited functions. In this proposal, a web server based calendar is proposed to overcome this weakness, i.e., no unique software is needed and with lots of very useful functions like creating an appointment, proposing a meeting, viewing the attendee s availability and the responses, accessing and even changing the calendars of other users based on the given permission. The user can access the calendar service wherever a web browser exists

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A HIGHLY MODIFIABLE RETAIL E-COMMERCE WEBSITE

The availability, modifiability, and performance of retail e-commerce websites(RECWEB) is greatly impacted by seasonal constraints. For many RECWEB, half of the calendar year is comprised of holidays and seasons. Spikes in website traffic and transactions can lower availability, modifiability, and performance of a RECWEB. This can result in downtime, customer abandonment, and ultimately lost revenue. This research focuses the modifiability aspects of the problem. During holiday and seasonal periods, enhancements to a RECWEB are generally not feasible. Enhancements put availability and performance at risk. In addition, most human resources are dedicated managing content changes. RECWEB are less modifiable then other systems because enhancements are only feasible for half of the calendar year. Furthermore, the scope of an enhancement must fit within a six month time box. This research provides pilot project for testing, designing, and implementing a highly modifiable RECWEB. The approach is to automate seasonal content changes. The cost savings on human resources can be reallocated to enhancements work. In addition, enhancements can simulate holiday seasons further in advance. The result is enhancement deployment is more feasible throughout the calendar year

Many mountainous regions in Indonesia have been utilized for potato cultivation. But location for the cultivation is mainly a rainfed agriculture, which greatly depend on the weather condition. Lembah Gumanti in Solok, West Sumatra is a rainfed main potato-growing area, which faced a low productivity during dry season. Therefore, efforts to optimize potato production in rainfed area remains research challenge. This study aims toidentify the optimum cropping calendar for potato and other horticultural commodities in Lembah Gumanti for 2018-2021. We used the water balance approach to derive daily water availability at field level. The approach was used to identify the planting time and pattern of potato and other horticultural commodities for 2018-2023 at dekadal (10-day) interval. The results showed that the most suitable planting time and cropping patternvaried annually. In 2018-2019, the cropping calendar was potato (in October 1st 10-day) – shallots (in April 1st 10-day) – chilies (in July 3rd 10-day). For 2020-2021, the best cropping calendar was shallots (in November 3rd 10-day) – potato (in March 3rd 10-day) – shallots (in August 1st 10-day). The findings reveal that water availability determined the cropping calendar of each commodity

Goal-based automatic scheduling of joint activities

    Get PDF
Users often skip activities that they have scheduled, e.g., workouts, training goals, etc. due to boredom or laziness. One mechanism to encourage users to complete activities is by adding a partner for the activity, e.g., a running partner, a gym buddy, etc. This disclosure describes techniques that enable a user to select and invite a partner when scheduling an activity. The activity can be scheduled based on user preferences, including availability, as indicated by the user’s calendar. Scheduling can be performed in an intelligent manner, e.g., by taking into account each user’s availability, each user’s activity goals, a virtual coach that sets goals for the user, etc. The techniques are implemented with user permission to access user data such as calendar, activity goals, workout history, user’s contacts, location, etc. for the purpose of scheduling an activity together with a contact. Activity invitations are provided to the selected contacts who may accept, decline, or reschedule the activity

Assessment of Honey Bee Flora in Eastern Zone of Tigray, North Ethiopia

This study was conducted to evaluate the existing bee flora and develop floral calendar in Eastern Zone of Tigray. Data were collected by using semi-structured questionnaire as well as direct observation. The total number of household head respondents was 160. Accordingly, different plant species and habit of growth (herb, shrub and tree) were identified as major bee flora. High availability of honeybee shrubs and herb plants was found from September to November while the most important trees flowered in March and May in all the districts. The high scarcity of bee forage was observed in June. Therefore, it is to be noticed that, in order to increase the honey bee yield and quality, scaling up of the coverage and management honeybee floras and considering floral calendar is critically important to the study area.
