Business process management tools as a measure of customer-centric maturity
In application of business process management (BPM) tools in European commercial sectors, this paper examines current maturity of customer centricity construct (CC) as an emerging dimension of competition and as a potential strategic management direction for the future of business. Processes are one of the key components of transformation in the CC roadmap. Particular departments are more customer orientated than others, and processes, customer-centric expertise, and approach can be built and utilized starting from them. Positive items within a current business process that only involve minor modification could be the basis for that. The evidence of movement on the customer-centric roadmap is found. BPM in European telecommunications, banking, utility and retail sector supports roadmap towards customer-centricity in process view, process alignment and process optimization. However, the movement is partial and not flawless, as BPM hasn’t been inquired for supporting many of customer-centric dimensions
Improving root cause analysis through the integration of PLM systems with cross supply chain maintenance data
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate a system architecture for integrating Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems with cross supply chain maintenance information to support root-cause analysis. By integrating product-data from PLM systems with warranty claims, vehicle diagnostics and technical publications, engineers were able to improve the root-cause analysis and close the information gaps. Data collection was achieved via in-depth semi-structured interviews and workshops with experts from the automotive sector. Unified Modelling Language (UML) diagrams were used to design the system architecture proposed. A user scenario is also presented to demonstrate the functionality of the system

Multichannel integration evidence from the States and a review of the field
Members of the Henley Centre for Customer Management requested a report on the status
of multichannel marketing. The focus of the research examines best practice examples from
the United States and a detailed review of the field. The research was conducted over the
summer of 2012 and identified over 240 quality articles for inclusion in the review. Using
systematic review methodology a number of key themes and respective indicators emerged
from the field. Results of the study identified common multichannel platforms, tools that
assist management in determining high-quality multichannel decisions, features of consumer
behaviour, successful investment decision-making processes, channel optimisation and a
review of consumer expectations of a multichannel marketing world
A model to assess customer alignment through customer experience concepts
Business and Information Technology Alignment (BITA) has been one of the main
concerns of IT and Business executives and directors due to its importance to
overall company performance, especially today in the age of digital
transformation. For BITA has been developed several models which in general has
focused in the implementation of alignment strategies for the internal
operation of the organizations and in the measurement of this internal
alignment, but, there is still a big gap in measurement models of the alignment
with the external environment of the organizations. In this paper is presented
the design and application of a maturity measurement model for BITA with the
customers, where the customers are actors of the external environment of the
companies. The proposed model involves evaluation criteria and business
practices which the companies ideally do for improve the relationship with

Supply chain uncertainty:a review and theoretical foundation for future research
Supply-chain uncertainty is an issue with which every practising manager wrestles, deriving from the increasing complexity of global supply networks. Taking a broad view of supply-chain uncertainty (incorporating supply-chain risk), this paper seeks to review the literature in this area and develop a theoretical foundation for future research. The literature review identifies a comprehensive list of 14 sources of uncertainty, including those that have received much research attention, such as the bullwhip effect, and those more recently described, such as parallel interaction. Approaches to managing these sources of uncertainty are classified into: 10 approaches that seek to reduce uncertainty at its source; and, 11 approaches that seek to cope with it, thereby minimising its impact on performance. Manufacturing strategy theory, including the concepts of alignment and contingency, is then used to develop a model of supply-chain uncertainty, which is populated using the literature review to show alignment between uncertainty sources and management strategies. Future research proposed includes more empirical research in order to further investigate: which uncertainties occur in particular industrial contexts; the impact of appropriate sources/management strategy alignment on performance; and the complex interplay between management strategies and multiple sources of uncertainty (positive or negative)

Value-oriented process modeling - towards a financial perspective on business process redesign
To date, typical process modeling approaches put a strong emphasis on describing behavioral aspects of business operations. However, they often neglect value-related information. Yet, such information is of key importance to strategic decisionmaking, for instance in the context of process improvement or business engineering. In this paper we propose a valueoriented approach to business process modeling based on key concepts and metrics from operations and financial management.
