Systemwide Clinical Ultrasound Program Development: An Expert Consensus Model.
Clinical ultrasound (CUS) is integral to the practice of an increasing number of medical specialties. Guidelines are needed to ensure effective CUS utilization across health systems. Such guidelines should address all aspects of CUS within a hospital or health system. These include leadership, training, competency, credentialing, quality assurance and improvement, documentation, archiving, workflow, equipment, and infrastructure issues relating to communication and information technology. To meet this need, a group of CUS subject matter experts, who have been involved in institution- and/or systemwide clinical ultrasound (SWCUS) program development convened. Evaluation of an operating MOD-OA 200 kW wind turbine blade
Operating loads and structural damage were monitored during operation of the MOD-OA electric generating system. The turbine was damaged locally between stations 48 and 125 after 2.8 million rotations. Loads due to degraded yaw stiffness and fretting at rib station 48 were identified as primary to this distress. The repaired blades operated an additional 4.8 million rotations without problems
Application of Building Typologies for Modelling the Energy Balance of the Residential Building Stock
Building typologies can serve as a basis for analysing the national housing sector. During the TABULA project which was introducing or further developing building typologies in thirteen EU countries, six of the European partners have carried out model calculations which aim at imaging the energy consumption and estimating the energy saving potentials of their national residential building stocks (IWU / Germany, NOA / Greece, POLITO / Italy, VITO / Belgium, STU-K / Czech Republic, SBi / Denmark). The results show that the model calculations can provide plausible projections of the energy consumption of the national residential buildings stock. The fit of model calculations and national energy statistics is satisfactory, deviations can often be explained and corrected by adapting standard boundary conditions of the applied calculation models to more realistic values. In general, the analysis shows that building typologies can be a helpful tool for modelling the energy consumption of national building stocks and for carrying out scenario analysis beyond the TABULA project. The consideration of a set of representative buildings makes it possible to have a detailed view on various packages of measures for the complete buildings stock or for its sub-categories. The effects of different insulation measures at the respective construction elements as well as different heat supply measures including renewable energies can be considered in detail. The quality of future model calculations will depend very much on the availability of statistical data. For reliable scenario analysis information is necessary about the current state of the building stock (How many buildings and heating systems have been refurbished until now?) and about the current trends (How many buildings and heating systems are being refurbished every year?). When the Hammer Meets the Nail: Multi-Server PIR for Database-Driven CRN with Location Privacy Assurance
We show that it is possible to achieve information theoretic location privacy
for secondary users (SUs) in database-driven cognitive radio networks (CRNs)
with an end-to-end delay less than a second, which is significantly better than
that of the existing alternatives offering only a computational privacy. This
is achieved based on a keen observation that, by the requirement of Federal
Communications Commission (FCC), all certified spectrum databases synchronize
their records. Hence, the same copy of spectrum database is available through
multiple (distinct) providers. We harness the synergy between multi-server
private information retrieval (PIR) and database- driven CRN architecture to
offer an optimal level of privacy with high efficiency by exploiting this
observation. We demonstrated, analytically and experimentally with deployments
on actual cloud systems that, our adaptations of multi-server PIR outperform
that of the (currently) fastest single-server PIR by a magnitude of times with
information theoretic security, collusion resiliency, and fault-tolerance
features. Our analysis indicates that multi-server PIR is an ideal
cryptographic tool to provide location privacy in database-driven CRNs, in
which the requirement of replicated databases is a natural part of the system
architecture, and therefore SUs can enjoy all advantages of multi-server PIR
without any additional architectural and deployment costs.Comment: 10 pages, double colum
