Application of Rasch model in validating the content of measurement instrument for blog quality

    Get PDF
Research in blog quality is very crucial nowadays in order to have a good quality blog in the blogosphere. The blog quality criteria have been derived from a rigorous metadata analysis. Yet, these criteria have not been reviewed and their significance has not been proven systematically. In this paper, Rasch Model is applied to produce an empirical evidence of content validity of the blog quality criteria. This study confirms that the definitions of 11 families and the 49 criteria assigned have content validity by mean of online survey. These criteria will then be used as a basis of constructing the instrument to measure the acceptability of the criteria for blog quality

Breakthroughs in technology are making the internet an ever-growing phenomenon, and we have witnessed an enormous growth of blogs in the blogosphere. However, the blogosphere has been crippled by disorganised and uncontrolled growth, and many blogs are of poor quality. Development domains, such as software engineering, website engineering, and information systems, have provided accepted models for the assessment of the quality of their products. However, to the best of our knowledge, there appears to be no standard model for the assessment of blog quality. In this paper, we propose a blog quality model as a guide for bloggers at large, with a set of 49 criteria grouped into 11 families of features that are relevant to blog quality. This model has been constructed by determining a set of criteria from a review of the relevant literature and blogs and then measuring the acceptability of these criteria by means of questionnaire surveys sent to sample populations of blog readers

A PAGERANK-BASED MINING ALGORITHM FOR USER INFLUENCES ON MICRO-BLOGS

With the development of Web technology, the Micro-Blog has become one of the most popular social platforms, and calculating and ranking the influences of the users on Micro-Blogs has been issuing an important research problem. Through improving the traditional the PageRank model, this paper presents a called PR4MB (PageRank for Micro-Blog) algorithm, which can obviously improve mining precisions for evaluating user influences on a Micro-Blog. While considering user link relations like the PageRank method, the PR4MB algorithm also takes attention to the activity, quality and credibility of a user on a Micro-Blog, so it constructs a dynamic mining model for user influences on a Micro-Blog by evaluation user online behaviors. The experimental results show that PR4MB algorithm, in comparing with the traditional PageRank algorithm, can more truly reflects the actual influences of different users on a Micro-Blog

Importance analysis of a blog quality model for criteria and families in different blog categories

A blog quality model has been proposed for bloggers to promote readers satisfaction. However, the model does not determine whether readers consider some quality criteria important, particularly with respect to different blog categories. In this paper, we employed a Rasch analysis to rank the importance of blog quality criteria for the Personal Diary, Socio-political Commentary, Humor/Entertainment, Lifestyle, and Technology blog categories. The authors identified the most important quality criteria and families for each category. The authors discovered that (1) the importance of quality criteria and/or families depends on the particular category with which a reader engages; (2) some quality criteria and/or families are more important for some categories but less important for others; and (3) certain quality criteria and/or families are equally important for some categories but not for others. The authors provide empirical evidence of the most important criteria bloggers and evaluators can focus on when they examine different blog categories. As the global economy becomes a service oriented economy, food service accounts for over 20% of service revenue, with an annual growth rate of more than 3%. Compared to physical products, service features are invisible, and the production and sale occurs simultaneously. There is not easy to measure the performance of service. Therefore, the service quality of catering services is considered to be an important topic of service management. According Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC) to apply blog text analyzing to point out top 10 restaurants of blog in Taiwan, what it’s popular restaurant in food service industries. This paper attempts to identify both the importance and performance of restaurant service quality in the Taiwan food service industry using the SERVQUAL and IPA model. We can conclude with certainty that three methods (SERVQUAL, IF and IPA) are able to explain significant amount of service quality. At the same time, the service quality factors of IPA model had more comprehensive consideration in comparison to those of SERVQUAL and IF

Blogs are very popular nowadays. Many big website portals, such as Yahoo Blog, PC home Blog, try to offer different functions and personal services to attract the potential users to be their Blog member, because this will bring more advertising income. For the portals, how to obtain users to continue use is very important to survival. Most previous articles focused on investigating system function and information quality issues on Blogs, but these technologies are very steady already. There are fewer studies to discuss the users’ flow experience on using Blogs. The aim of this study investigated whether the users’ flow experience affected the Bloggers’ satisfaction and intention to continue using. 303 Bloggers were surveyed online. The research findings indicated that confirmation, perceived usefulness, flow, challenge, and arousal were positively affected to the Bloggers’ satisfaction in using that Blog; perceived usefulness, satisfaction, flow were also positively influenced to the Bloggers’ intention to continue using. In addition, the findings point out that the flow factors which we extend into ECTIS model weak positively influence satisfaction. The higher satisfaction users have, the more are continuance intention users get. Recommendations are given on how to make the Bloggers continue using Blogs for the service providers

An Empirical Study of the Factors Affecting Weblog Success in Higher Education

The use of classroom blogs in higher education serves to engage and motivate students as well as to help them build a professional online profile and connect with fellow classmates. Although many studies have focused on the implementation and benefits of blogging in education, few have investigated best practices in design, which can have a critical impact upon success. In this study, we proposed a success model for classroom blogs considering the impact of system quality, information quality and user aspects to the net benefit, with an emphasis on user experience design. Finally, we evaluated this model by studying a classroom blog used by 146 college students over the course of 3 academic quarters

vii, 113 leaves ; 29 cmAs blogs have become a new and significant way of distributing information, businesses and organizations have started looking for ways to exploit corporate blogs. With their recent evolution, little research has been conducted on the factors that influence blog readers and comment providers to continue engaging in corporate blogging activities. In this study, we analyze IT corporate blog users' motivations to continue using blogs based on an integrated technology acceptance model (TAM) and expectation confirmation model for the information technology domain (ECM-IT). Our findings suggest that confirmation, perceived usefulness, information quality and social norms are the main determinants of satisfaction, attitude and continued blog usage intention. Moreover, results indicate that some of the factors that influence users to continue using personal blogs do not apply to corporate blog visitors. Overall, our model explains 71% of the variance of continued blog usage intention
