Victims and diplomats:European white stork conservation efforts, animal representations, and images of expertise in postwar ornithology

This article discusses two approaches to save the European white stork populations from extinction that emerged after 1980. Despite the shared objective to devise transnational, science-based conservation measures, the two approaches’ geographical focus was radically different. Projects by the World Wildlife Fund and the International Council for Bird Preservation focused firmly on the stork’s wintering areas on the African continent. Interventions by a second group of ornithologists at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Radolfzell concentrated on the Middle East as a migration bottleneck. Based on archival research, interviews and correspondence with involved ornithologists, the article examines stork representations as an important lens for investigating the professional politics of ecology and conservation. It shows that representations of white storks, the birds’ ecology, and derived conservation hotspots became part of the boundary work used by European ornithologist in the creation of changing scientific and institutional identities

Die jährliche Konferenz GeNeMe „Gemeinschaften in Neuen Medien“ diskutiert insbesondere Online Communities aus integraler Sicht auf mehrere Fachdisziplinen wie Informatik, Medientechnologie, Wirtschaftswissenschaft, Bildungs- und Informationswissenschaft, sowie Sozial- und Kommunikationswissenschaft. Als Forum für einen transdisziplinären Dialog ermöglicht die GeNeMe den Erfahrungs- und Wissensaustausch zwischen Teilnehmenden verschiedenster Fachrichtungen, Organisationen und Institutionen mit dem Fokus sowohl auf Forschung als auch Praxis. Die GeNeMe 2023 öffnete sich insbesondere der Diskussion von Fragen rund um Inklusion und Teilhabe im Rahmen digitaler Formate und Innovationen. Social Work in the Changing Welfare State: A Policy Analysis of Active Labour Market Policies for Disadvantaged Youth in Austria

How can employment policies support young people entering the labour market? The author analyses the changes in political discourses and social-political measures with regards to employment promotion for disadvantaged young people in Austria. Against the background of his resource theory, he discusses measures such as inter-company apprenticeships, youth guarantee, and compulsory training and illustrates the impact that the social investment paradigm as well as the capability-orientated, neoliberal, and right-wing populist approaches may have on the practical work of professionals and on the young people concerned. Optimising young people's entry into the labour market concerns politicians, social work professionals, and vocational education experts equally. Focusing on the years between 2000 and 2020, the author investigates the political processes behind the promotion of employment for disadvantaged young people in Austria and analyses the resulting changes for young people and for professionals working in this field.Wie kann die Arbeitsmarktpolitik Jugendliche beim Berufseinstieg unterstützen? Binge-Eating-Störung: Grundlagen und Psychotherapieprozess

Prospektive und retrospektive Studien belegen einen geringen expliziten Selbstwert und häufige explizite gewichtsbezogene Stigmatisierung im Zusammenhang mit der Binge-Eating-Störung (BES). Im Gegensatz dazu fehlen bisher Untersuchungen des impliziten Selbstwerts und der impliziten gewichtsbezogenen Stigmatisierung bei der BES. Zur Behandlung der Essstörung liegen Empfehlungen aus (inter)nationalen Behandlungsleitlinien vor, während zum Einfluss des Psychotherapieprozesses wenig bekannt ist. Die vorliegende Dissertation gliedert sich in zwei Teile, um den Forschungsstand zu Grundlagen und zum Psychotherapieprozess bei der BES zu erweitern. Die Daten zweier Studien wurden dabei an einer bevölkerungsbasierten Stichprobe (Grundlagen) und in einer multizentrischen Behandlungsstudie (Psychotherapieprozess) erhoben. Für zwei Übersichtsarbeiten erfolgte eine systematische Literatursuche (Psychotherapieprozess). Es zeigten sich bedeutsame Einschränkungen bei adipösen Probanden mit BES im expliziten wie auch impliziten Selbstwert und der gewichtsbezogenen Stigmatisierung im Vergleich zu adipösen und gesunden, normalgewichtigen Kontrollprobanden. Direkte und indirekte Messungen wiesen kaum Zusammenhänge auf. Darüber hinaus sagten der explizite und der implizite Selbstwert das Ausmaß der globalen Essstörungspsychopathologie vorher. In den Übersichtsarbeiten konnte ein Einfluss verschiedenster Aspekte des Psychotherapieprozesses auf die Therapieergebnisse für verschiedene Behandlungen und Essstörungen (inklusive BES) bestätigt werden. Jedoch zeigte sich, dass einige Prozessaspekte kaum erforscht waren und nur wenige Studien parallel mehrere Prozessaspekte untersuchten. In der Studie zum Prozessaspekt der therapeutischen Adhärenz (Manualtreue des Therapeuten) in der Kognitiven Verhaltenstherapie der BES wurde ein neues Instrument mit guten psychometrischen Kennwerten entwickelt. Ein hohes Ausmaß der Adhärenz wurde nachgewiesen. Weiterhin fanden sich bedeutsame Zusammenhänge zur therapeutischen Allianz sowie zu verschiedenen Patienten- und Therapeutenmerkmalen. Die Ergebnisse zum impliziten Selbstwert und zur gewichtsbezogenen Stigmatisierung erweitern das Wissen zu Entstehungs- und Aufrechterhaltungsfaktoren der BES. Der aktuelle Stand der Prozess-Ergebnis-Forschung konnte zusammengefasst werden und erlaubt nun die Ableitung von Forschungs- sowie klinischen Implikationen. Der Nachweis einer guten therapeutischen Adhärenz gilt als wichtige Voraussetzung für die Auswertung der multizentrischen Behandlungsstudie

The aim of this bibliography is to make visible and bring to the fore choral related research that has not seldom been carried out within research areas other than musical ones and that has thus been overlooked by choral researchers and choirmasters, thereby landing up outside the discourses of choral research. The approximately 5,000 entered titles do not constitute a complete list of the choral research literature in the years 1960-2010, but rather merely reflect certain specific sub-sections of the global research about choral phenomena.
