Water Well Pump Efficiency Monitor Units

    Get PDF
Indroduction: As the costs for pumping municipal, industrial and irrigation water rise, owners and the public area giving increased attention to energy conservation. One way to conserve energy is to operate water pumps at or near peak efficiency. The measurement of pump efficiency usually requires a special test equipment, a skilled operator and time to perform the test. Owners may find it more economical to waste power than to monitor for inefficiencies. One way to help change this situation is to develop inexpensive equipment for unskilled people to use to obtain rapid measurements of pump efficiency under typical operating conditions. Such equipment would enable pump owners to find out quickly when their equipment was operating below maximum efficiency so the problems could be corrected. Prudent and timely maintenance work would pay off by making the pumping operation more economical and conserving energy resources

Broadband power amplifier tube: Klystron tube 5K70SK-WBT and step tuner VA-1470S

The design concept, the fabrication, and the acceptance testing of a wide band Klystron tube and remotely controlled step tuner for channel selection are discussed. The equipment was developed for the modification of an existing 20 KW Power Amplifier System which was provided to the contractor as GFE. The replacement Klystron covers a total frequency range of 2025 to 2120 MHz and is tuneable to six (6) each channel with a band width of 22 MHz or greater per channel. A 5 MHz overlap is provided between channels. Channels are selected at the control panel located in the front of the Klystron magnet or from one of three remote control stations connected in parallel with the step tuner. Included in this final report are the results of acceptance tests conducted at the vendor's plant and of the integrated system tests

Specifications which define the system functional requirements, the subsystem and interface needs, and other requirements such as maintainability, modularity, and reliability are summarized. A design definition of all required avionics functions and a system risk analysis are presented

A survey of computer uses in music

This thesis covers research into the mathematical basis inherent in music including review of projects related to optical character recognition (OCR) of musical symbols. Research was done about fractals creating new pieces by assigning pitches to numbers. Existing musical pieces can be taken apart and reassembled creating new ideas for composers. Musical notation understanding is covered and its requirement for the recognition of a music sheet by the computer for editing and reproduction purposes is explained. The first phase of a musical OCR was created in this thesis with the recognition of staff lines on a good quality image. Modifications will need to be made to take care of noise and tilted images that may result from scanning

Development of limb volume measuring system

The mechanisms underlying the reductions in orthostatic tolerance associated with weightlessness are not well established. Contradictory results from measurements of leg volume changes suggest that altered venomotor tone and reduced blood flow may not be the only contributors to orthostatic intolerance. It is felt that a more accurate limb volume system which is insensitive to environmental factors will aid in better quantification of the hemodynamics of the leg. Of the varous limb volume techniques presently available, the ultrasonic limb volume system has proven to be the best choice. The system as described herein is free from environmental effects, safe, simple to operate and causes negligible radio frequency interference problems. The segmental ultrasonic ultrasonic plethysmograph is expected to provide a better measurement of limb volume change since it is based on cross-sectional area measurements
