The purpose of this research is to investigate the factors influencing customer satisfaction and behavioral intention to repurchase of customers towards KFC restaurant in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Empirical testing is conducted to deduce the result of this research. Data were collected from 450 respondents who have/had dining experience at KFC restaurant Dhaka, Bangladesh by using self-administered questionnaire. Multiple Linear regression (MLR) method was used for analysis and SPSS software was used to interpret the result. The researcher used judgement, quota, and convenience sampling to deduce the target population and location. It was revealed from the study that service quality in terms of tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy has no significant influence on customer satisfaction. Perceived value in terms of hedonic and utilitarian value, price, food quality, physical environment quality has significant influence on customer satisfaction. Utilitarian value is a better predictor of customer satisfaction because of high beta value. Price, customer satisfaction and perceived value has significant influence on behavioral intention to repurchase. Customer satisfaction is a better predictor of behavioral intention to repurchase because of high beta value

The Japanese Market for Imported Fruit Juices

The objectives were to analyze the competitiveness of countries exporting fruit juices into Japan and simulate the effect of the negative Japanese population growth rate on fruit juice demand. The relative price version of the Rotterdam demand model was estimated for orange, grapefruit, other citrus, apple, pineapple and grape juices. Results indicate that most exporters can’t increase market share through price reductions. Product promotion and product differentiation is a more plausible option. The growth of fruit juice demand in Japan is expected to decrease over the period 2006 through 2020 for 11 of the 18 fruit juice/country combinations because of negative population growth rate.competitiveness, fruit juice, Japan, Rotterdam model, population decline, Agribusiness, Agricultural and Food Policy, International Development, Q1,

Identification of Service Quality Competency Framework for The Lounge Attendants: a Case of A Privately-Owned Airline in Thailand

Service quality is a critical competitive differentiator, particularly for A airways, which cannot compete with low-cost carriers (LCCs) based on price; the airport lounge service has been identified as a critical aspect of overall airline service quality. However, an established competency framework for airline lounge staff, and clear understanding of the competencies that contribute to service quality in airline lounges are currently lacking. This research was conducted to determine whether staff competencies influence the service quality ratings for airport lounges, and to identify the most important staff competencies for providing exceptional service. A airway’s customers (n = 419) were surveyed, and supplemental qualitative data was also collected via a series of interviews with airport lounge staff and passengers (n = 20), as well as focus groups with industry experts (n = 18). Multiple regression analysis of the survey data indicated that five competencies influence service quality ratings; these were efficiency, helpfulness, communication skills, the ability to maintain a neat and professional appearance, and knowledge (which was negatively related to service quality ratings). Content and thematic analysis from the interviews and focus group transcripts highlighted the importance of additional competencies, including problem solving and conflict resolution skills, attention to detail, situational awareness, service-mindedness, friendliness, the ability to maintain a positive attitude, a caring approach, and general customer service and hospitality skills

Water for People, Water for Life

    Get PDF
This report documents the serious water crisis we are facing at the beginning of the 21st century. This crisis is one of water governance, essentially caused by the ways in which we mismanage water. But the real tragedy is the effect it has on the everyday lives of poor people, who are blighted by the burden of water-related disease, living in degraded and often dangerous environments, struggling to get an education for their children and to earn a living, and to get enough to eat. The executive summary offers an analysis of the problem as well as pilot case studies for water management and recommendations for future action

    Ecolabelling and Fisheries Management

RAFMS (Rapid Appraisal of Fisheries Managment Systems) designed by ICLARM is a semistructural research tool designed to quickly document and evaluate exisiting local-level fisheries management systems in a given coastal community. The results of RAFMS will provide direction for undertaking more formal research or quantitative surveys to describe institutional arrangements and performance. RAFMS is suited to the village level, or to a cluster of villages within a defined marine unit such as a bay. It's emphasis is on the evaluation of the rights and rules system governing the use of the fisheries resources at the local level. The approach is also participatory because it is designed for the joint use of RAFMS practitioners and local researchers in collaboration with local fishing communities. The mode of community participation, however, is consultative. This Version 1 of the guide was published with the anticipation of future feedback. Version 1 had been tested for two years prior to being published in collaboration with ICLARM's research partners at: Ulugan Bay and Binunsalian Bay in Palawan, Asia (Southeastern)-Philippines; and Nolloth Village at Saparua Isalnd in Indonesia

Poverty Vulnerability and Trade Policy: Are the Likely Impacts Discernable?

    Get PDF
Trade policy reform prospects have generated debate about the impacts on poverty. Some critics assert that price changes induced by trade reform are minimal and may not be distinguishable from price fluctuations induced by other shocks to the global economy. This paper addresses this issue by developing an approach to assess whether poverty changes induced by trade reform can be statistically discernable, based on a comparison in the grains sector. Fluctuations in grains markets are implemented by incorporating stochastic simulations into a CGE model of the global economy. The resulting price distributions are inputted to a micro-simulation based on national household surveys. The conclusions are based on the comparison of the resulting poverty distributions from the weather-induced variability only, versus the combined effect of the latter and trade reform. Results indicate that, in this conservative approach of evaluating only the global grains markets, the short-run impacts on poverty of trade liberalization can not be distinguished from market volatility in some countries.International Relations/Trade,

Factors Affecting Efficient Supply Chain Operational Performance of High and Low Technology Companies in Thailand

This paper was about comparison between two groups of companies with different characteristics of technology intensity on their supply chain operational performance and potential factors that constitute efficient supply chain operational performance. Data collection was conducted for the manufacturing sector in Thailand where 407 participants evaluated themselves using an SCM Logistics Scorecard (LSC). The LSC focused on four decisive areas, namely, (i) corporate and inter-organization alignment, (ii) planning and execution capability (iii) logistics performance and (iv) IT implementation and management. The LSC score was compared between high and low technology groups to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Attempt was made to identify the potential factors leading to improvement of supply chain management for both groups of companies. Keywords: Technology intensity; High technology industries; SCM, Supply chain operational performance; Factor analysi
