HUBUNGAN SEJARAH PERKEMBANGAN ART DECO DENGAN DUNIA FASHION

ABSTRAK— Art Deco yang merupakan suatu gaya yang muncul antara Perang Dunia I dan Perang Dunia II yaitu pada tahun 1920-an dan 1930-an. IstilahArt Deco muncul saat pelaksanaan Exposition Internasionale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Moderenes tahun 1925 di Paris. Dengan menelaah berbagai literatur tentang sejarah, definisi serta ciri hingga fashion pada masa Art Deco, artikel ini memiliki tujuan menyajikan hasil studi literatur dari beberapa junal dan buku serta membahas lebih mendalam tentang sejarah kemunculan dan perkembangan Art Deco yang berhubungan dengan dunia Fashion. Hasil telaah dari berbagai literatur menunjukan bahwa dalam perjalanan sejarahnya Art Deco banyak dipengaruhi oleh dunia Mode yang dimulai dari munculnya gagasan dari para Desainer masa itu, pengaruh tersebut menjadikan Fashion dan Art Deco sebagai pusat gaya dan seni di hampir seluruh belahan dunia terutama di Paris, Prancis. Walaupun pada masa modern ini Art Deco lebih banyak dikenal di dunia seni Arsitektur serta Interior, namun pada hakekat sejarahnya dunia fashion merupakan pondasi awal munculnya gaya Art Deco.Dengan banyaknya orang yang belum awam dengan istilah Art Deco dibidang fashion maka penelitian dapat bermanfaat menambah pengetahuan serta menjadi referensi baru dibidang keilmuan fashion serta menjadi sumber dalam proses pengembangan lanjutan dan penerapan FashionArt Deco pada masa kini.   Kata Kunci: Art Deco, Fashion, Desainer, Sejarah   ABSTRACT— Art Deco, which is a style that emerged between World War I and World War II, namely in the 1920s and 1930s. The term Art Deco appeared during the 1925 Exposition Internasionale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. By examining various literatures on history, definitions and characteristics to fashion during the Art Deco era, this article has the aim of presenting the results of literature studies from several journals and books and discussing more deeply the history of the emergence and development of Art Deco related to the world of Fashion. The results of a study of various literatures show that in the course of its history, Art Deco has been heavily influenced by the world of fashion, starting from the emergence of ideas from designers at that time, this influence has made Fashion and Art Deco a center of style and art in almost all parts of the world, especially in Paris, France. . Although in this modern era, Art Deco is more widely known in the world of architecture and interior art, but in essence, the world of fashion history is the foundation for the emergence of the Art Deco style. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya bangunan peninggalan kolonial belanda yang begaya art deco yang menjadi daya tarik sendiri bagi para wisatawan yang akan melancong ke Bandung. Pada saat ibu kota Hindia Belanda akan dipindahkan ke Bandung para arsitek dari Belanda dan Negara lainnya didatangkan untuk menata kota Bandung, dengan memulai pembangunan kantor pemerintahan yaitu “Gedung Sate” pada 1920. Gaya bangunan art deco ditandai dengan lengkungan yang ada di dalam suatu banguan dan tingkatan – tingkatan yang menumpuk dan atap yang datar menjadi cirri khas art deco. Seiring dengan berjalannya waktu bangunan – bangunan tersebut dimakan usia dan menyesikan, beberapa bangunan yang masih dijaga keasliannya dan ada juga yang sudah direnovasi dirubah sehingga menghilangkan keaslian dari gaya art deco tersebu

Perancangan Music And Theatre Hall di Bandung dengan Pendekatan Gaya Art Deco

Sebagai salah satu kota yang berkembang dalam apresiasi seninya, kota Bandung merupakan pusat diadakannya berbagai macam jenis pertunjukanseni, sehingga memiliki potensi yang besar bagi perindustrian seni dan budaya musik untuk membangun sebuah gedung pertunjukan teater dan musik.Selain berfungsi sebagai gedung fasilitas pertunjukan musik, bangunan ini juga berfungsi sebagai pendukung nilai sejarah kolonialisme di Bandungdengan mengimplementasikan gaya “Art Deco” pada desain. The American art deco designers of the 1930s were truly innovators, inventors and artists. They were not, however, the only ones creating “a modern world” during this time. In fact, America was one of the last countries to embrace the art deco style which was thriving in Germany, Austria, and France. There was a strong connection between the French art décoratifs movement and early 20th century American industrial designs. Art Deco is an artistic term that stands for an elegant eclectic design style dating back to the 1920s. Style has affected virtually all industries, including architecture, fine arts, applied arts, interior design, industrial design, fashion and jewellery, as well as painting, graphics and cinema. Art Deco architecture and arts expanded on other movements - Constructivism, Cubism, Modernism, Bauhaus, and Futurism. Principles of Constructivism and Cubism are also used in contemporary textile patchwork and quilt. The aim of the paper: exploration of the features of Art Deco style in the textile works of 20th century designers - Sonia Delaunay and Paul Poiret. The methods of the research: exploration of theoretical literature and Internet resources, the experience of reflection.The research emphasizes Sonja Delaunay’s particular importance of textile works in the development of contemporary quilt in the 21st century

Marked Woman (1937) and the Dialectics of Art Deco in the Classical Gangster Genre

In this article, I analyse the function of Art Deco designs in the 1930s gangster genre and, in particular, Warner Brothers\u27 Marked Woman (Bacon, 1937). Like many gangster films of the period, it associates high-style Art Deco with excess and the criminal underworld. My findings, however, reveal a tension between the film\u27s moralist stance and its visual excess. Compelling visual signifiers of leisure, style and social mobility, the modern designs are free to circumvent the film\u27s critical message and reinforce American capitalist ideologies. My analyses underscore Art Deco as an emblematic style of commercial modernity. Marked Woman and other gangster films not only reflect the latest trends in design, but also negotiate a constellation of values, ideologies and desires at a time of social and economic volatility
