Framework for software architecture visualization assessment.
In order to assess software architecture visualisation strategies, we qualitatively characterize then construct an assessment framework with 7 key areas and 31 features. The framework is used for evaluation and comparison of various strategies from multiple stakeholder perspectives. Six existing software architecture visualisation tools and a seventh research tool were evaluated. All
tools exhibited shortcomings when evaluated in the framework
A look at cloud architecture interoperability through standards
Enabling cloud infrastructures to evolve into a transparent platform while preserving integrity raises interoperability issues. How components are connected needs to be addressed. Interoperability requires standard data models and communication encoding technologies compatible with the existing Internet infrastructure. To reduce vendor lock-in situations, cloud computing must implement universal strategies regarding standards, interoperability and portability. Building Programmable Wireless Networks: An Architectural Survey
In recent times, there have been a lot of efforts for improving the ossified
Internet architecture in a bid to sustain unstinted growth and innovation. A
major reason for the perceived architectural ossification is the lack of
ability to program the network as a system. This situation has resulted partly
from historical decisions in the original Internet design which emphasized
decentralized network operations through co-located data and control planes on
each network device. The situation for wireless networks is no different
resulting in a lot of complexity and a plethora of largely incompatible
wireless technologies. The emergence of "programmable wireless networks", that
allow greater flexibility, ease of management and configurability, is a step in
the right direction to overcome the aforementioned shortcomings of the wireless
networks. In this paper, we provide a broad overview of the architectures
proposed in literature for building programmable wireless networks focusing
primarily on three popular techniques, i.e., software defined networks,
cognitive radio networks, and virtualized networks. This survey is a
self-contained tutorial on these techniques and its applications. We also
discuss the opportunities and challenges in building next-generation
programmable wireless networks and identify open research issues and future

Planning and Design Soa Architecture Blueprint
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a framework for integrating business processes and supporting IT infrastructure as secure, standardized components-services-that can be reused and combined to address changing business priorities. Services are the building blocks of SOA and new applications can be constructed through consuming these services and orchestrating services within a business process. In SOA, services map to the business functions that are identified during business process analysis. Upon a successful implementation of SOA, the enterprise gain benefit by reducing development time, utilizing flexible and responsive application structure, and following dynamic connectivity of application logics between business partners. Usage of Network Simulators in Machine-Learning-Assisted 5G/6G Networks
Without any doubt, Machine Learning (ML) will be an important driver of
future communications due to its foreseen performance when applied to complex
problems. However, the application of ML to networking systems raises concerns
among network operators and other stakeholders, especially regarding
trustworthiness and reliability. In this paper, we devise the role of network
simulators for bridging the gap between ML and communications systems. In
particular, we present an architectural integration of simulators in ML-aware
networks for training, testing, and validating ML models before being applied
to the operative network. Moreover, we provide insights on the main challenges
resulting from this integration, and then give hints discussing how they can be
overcome. Finally, we illustrate the integration of network simulators into
ML-assisted communications through a proof-of-concept testbed implementation of
a residential Wi-Fi network

An analysis of BYOD architectures in relation to mitigating security risks
As the adaptation of smartphones and tablets to conduct business activities increases, enterprise mobility becomes a rising trend in business environments providing a flexible work environment that modernizes how workers accomplish their tasks. One significant part of the current enterprise mobility movement is the adoption of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategy. BYOD allows employees to use their personal mobile devices to access corporate resources and conduct business tasks while maintaining the usage of these devices for personal activities. This underlying feature of the BYOD solution presents serious concerns for enterprises in terms of securing the storage and access of the corporate data. This report will explore the BYOD strategy and analyze the business requirements that are tied to the secure storage and management of corporate data. Architectural support for task dependence management with flexible software scheduling
The growing complexity of multi-core architectures has motivated a wide range of software mechanisms to improve the orchestration of parallel executions. Task parallelism has become a very attractive approach thanks to its programmability, portability and potential for optimizations. However, with the expected increase in core counts, finer-grained tasking will be required to exploit the available parallelism, which will increase the overheads introduced by the runtime system. This work presents Task Dependence Manager (TDM), a hardware/software co-designed mechanism to mitigate runtime system overheads. TDM introduces a hardware unit, denoted Dependence Management Unit (DMU), and minimal ISA extensions that allow the runtime system to offload costly dependence tracking operations to the DMU and to still perform task scheduling in software. With lower hardware cost, TDM outperforms hardware-based solutions and enhances the flexibility, adaptability and composability of the system. Results show that TDM improves performance by 12.3% and reduces EDP by 20.4% on average with respect to a software runtime system. Compared to a runtime system fully implemented in hardware, TDM achieves an average speedup of 4.2% with 7.3x less area requirements and significant EDP reductions.
