Aquaculture and Marine Protected Areas: Exploring Potential Opportunities and Synergies
This new publication, aims at exploring potential opportunities and synergies between aquaculture and conservation. Acknowledging that both aquaculture and MPA may benefit from each other in striving for global sustainable development, here are some of the questions the brochure explores: Under what circumstances can MPAs and aquaculture come together? How could MPAs boost aquaculture growth? How could aquaculture activities provide financial support to MPAs? And how can we minimize negative interactions

Recommendation domains for pond aquaculture: country case study: development and status of freshwater aquaculture in Cameroon
This report is an output of the project “Determination of high-potential aquaculture development areas and impact in Africa and Asia”. This monograph is the case study for Cameroon. Written in three parts, it describes the historical background, practices, stakeholder profiles, production levels, economic and institutional environment, policy issues, and prospects for aquaculture in the country. First, it documents the history and current status of the aquaculture in the country. Second, it assesses the technologies and approaches that either succeeded or failed to foster aquaculture development and discusses why. Third, it identifies the key reasons for aquaculture adoption
Success Stories in Asian Aquaculture
The stories presented in this book reflect the unique nature of Asian aquaculture, providing first-time insight into how and why it has become so successful. Overall, the book demonstrates how the resiliency, adaptability, and innovation of small-scale aquaculture farmers have been crucial to this success. It also places aquaculture development in Asia into a wider global context, and describes its relationship to natural systems, social conditions, and economics. The book is unique in its in-depth presentation of primary research on Asian aquaculture, and in demonstrating how aquaculture can have a lasting positive impact on livelihoods, food security, and sustainable development
Credit financing of aquaculture programmes -- a review
A discussion is presented on the role of credit financing in the development of aquaculture programmes in Nigeria. The constraints militating against credit availability to aquaculture vis-a-vis the competition between aquaculture and other agricultural and industrial sectors for the allocation of available credit facilities are examined. Possible ways of enhancing preferential allocation of capital to the aquaculture industry from the various sources of credit available to the Nigerial agricultural economy are suggeste
