In this paper we present an energy-efficient cross layer protocol for providing application specific reservations in wireless senor networks called the “Unified Clustering and Communication Protocol ” (UCCP). Our modular cross layered framework satisfies three wireless sensor network requirements, namely, the QoS requirement of heterogeneous applications, energy aware clustering and data forwarding by relay sensor nodes. Our unified design approach is motivated by providing an integrated and viable solution for self organization and end-to-end communication is wireless sensor networks. Dynamic QoS based reservation guarantees are provided using a reservation-based TDMA approach. Our novel energy-efficient clustering approach employs a multi-objective optimization technique based on OR (operations research) practices. We adopt a simple hierarchy in which relay nodes forward data messages from cluster head to the sink, thus eliminating the overheads needed to maintain a routing protocol. Simulation results demonstrate that UCCP provides an energy-efficient and scalable solution to meet the application specific QoS demands in resource constrained sensor nodes. In this work, a novel and powerful mechanism for optimizing dynamic routing protocols in wireless se nsor mesh networking is deeply proposed and studied, by taking advantage and the benefits of flat-based routing techniques in combination with hierarchical strategies, so that a more efficient and energy/processing aware multi-path dissemination protocol is fully implemented. The communication and routing capabilities of W SN-based smart applications are key issues to be tackled in order to assure the reliability, scalability and long-term operability of the whole system. In order to accomplish such a challenging approach and targeting the on-site perf ormance analysis of routing protocols in real scenarios, a new intelligent, mobile and adaptable routing protocol simulator is also proposed, so that users are provided with a complete comparative study of different multi-hop mesh-based network deployments based on the design constraints and application requirements

Due to the recent developments in the hand-held devices and communication enhancements in wireless networks like mobile ad-hoc network (MANETs), these networks are targeted for providing real time services like video streaming, video conferencing, VOIP etc. Although, the basic design of MANETs is not fully capable to provide multimedia services, therefore some sort of quality-of-service is required in these networks. In this paper, I have proposed a delay-aware routing protocol that discovers routes for a source-destination pair with the application provided delay constraints. The methodology is focused on using a reactive routing approach, AODV, to discover the delay-aware routes during its route discovery phase. In this way, we are able to provide the QoS to the requesting application in terms of delay metric

Today, interconnection and routing protocols must discover the best solution for secure data transformation with a variety of smart devices due to the growing influence of information technology, such as Internet of Things (IoT), in human life. In order to handle routing concerns with regard to new interconnection approaches like the 6LoWPAN protocol, it is required to offer an improved solution. This research propose novel technique in 6LoWPAN network secure routing and energy efficiency (EE) for WSN in IoT application based on 5G technology. Here the energy optimization has been carried out using clustered channel aware least square support vector machine (Cl_CHLSSVM). Then the secure routing has been carried out using fuzzy based Routing Protocol for low-power and Lossy Networks with kernel-particle swarm optimization (Fuz_RPL_KPSO). To serve needs of IoT applications, proposed method is cognizant of both node priorities as well as application priorities. Applications' sending rate allocation is modeled as a constrained optimization issue.Pxperimental analysis is carried out in terms of throughput of 96%, weighted fairness index of 77%, end-to-end delay of 59%, energy consumption of 86%, and buffer dropped packets of 51%

A Quality of Service Aware Source Routing Based Protocol for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks

Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) handle many underwater applications such as environment monitoring, surveillance and navigation. These applications generate varied types of traffic such as continuous bit rate, sporadic and different packet sizes, leading to additional QoS requirements that are traffic and application dependent. This paper presents the development of a Quality of Service Aware Source Routing (QASR) protocol. QASR discovers multiple paths from the sources to the sinks and selects the most QoS compatible route among them. QASR is distinctive because it incorporates multiple QoS parameters such as Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), latency and residual energy. Depending on which of these parameters are chosen, QASR has three variants, namely, QASR-Latency (QASR-L), QASR-Residual Energy (QASR-RE) and QASR-Signal to Noise Ratio (QASR-SNR). The performance of QASR protocol is compared against traditional source routing protocols, with simulations showing a reduction of about 10% to 20% in latency and about 5% to 10% lesser energy consumption than source routing. QASR protocol exhibits comparable performance to classic source routing protocols while simultaneously adhering to the QoS requirements of the application. It is also worth noting that the performance profile of all the three variants of QASR do not have sudden and drastic variations, with the performance profiles showing consistent trend-lines

This paper describes a cooperative MANET protocol dedicated to intelligent transport systems, named CIVIC (Communication Inter Véhicule Intelligente et Coopérative). The CIVIC protocol is an auto-configuration inter-vehicle communication protocol, which supports adhoc and infrastructure networks, contains reactive and proactive routing components, and adapts different wireless standards. It is a context-aware protocol reacting to vehicle status, road traffic, and geographic environment. It supports location-based communication. To improve the accuracy of GPS, it integrates a localization solution called LCD-GPS (Low Cost Differential GPS). It has been implemented and experimented on the LiveNode sensor developed by our lab. At the end of this paper, an application project MobiPlus is introduced
