Visibility of contributions in Industrial Organization in international scientific journals.

    Get PDF
This empirical study evaluates the relative importance of articles in industrial organization published in major general or specialized scientific journals, either english or french, using the new 1991 J.E.L. classification system. Contributions are examined within two recent periods, 1991-93 and 1994-96, and regrouped according to the nature of the article: theoretical (L100-L390); industrial policy (L400-L590); industry studies (L600-L990). A specialization progress indicator (IPS) may show the evolution of the editorial policy in relation with the treatment of the subject, while a rate of multiple reference (TRM) reveals the specific characteristics of the journals with respect to the type of article being published.Industrial organization; French journals; Sociology of economics; Journals ratings.

Using cartography to sustain inter-generation knowledge transfer : the M3C methodology

Knowledge transfer problem between two generations of professionals (usually from the old one to the new one) to a new dimension. Knowledge transfer is no longer reducible to classical solutions as face to face training, technical education, tutoring. Knowledge to transfer is professional knowledge (Business Knowledge). It involves the whole Knowledge Capital within an organization. Identify the knowledge components that are worthwhile to transfer is not an easy task. This is the problem addressed in this paperKnowledge management, Knowledge transfer

Market Power and Collusion on Interconnection Phone Market in Tunisia : What Lessons from International Experiences

    Get PDF
We try in this paper to characterize the state of mobile phone market in Tunisia. Our study is based on a survey of foreign experience (Europe) in detecting collusive behavior and a comparison of the critical threshold of collusion between operators in developing countries like Tunisia. The market power is estimated based on the work of Parker Roller (1997) and the assumption of "Balanced Calling Pattern". We use then the model of Friedman (1971) to compare the critical threshold of collusion. We show that the "conduct parameter" measuring the intensity of competition is not null during the period 1993-2011. Results show also that collusion is easier on the Tunisian market that on the Algerian, Jordanian, or Moroccan one

Performance of Turbo Code in CDMA under AWGN Channel

Carrier Division Multiple Access is considered as an efficient technique in wireless communication due to its high possibility to serve an unlimited number of users. CDMA uses the same frequency concurrently with wireless communication. In this paper, the performance and evaluation of turbo code are duly presented followed by the examination of CDMA under AWGN channel was highlighted. The simulation estimated to achieve bit error rate of less than 10-2 frame size. To this end, the results of the simulation show that the Bit Error Rate is inversely proportional to the size of the frame and directly proportional the number of iteration in the decoder

Balkanisation of telecommunication networks and regional development : a network economics approach (In French)

    Get PDF
The paper focuses on the links between telecommunication networks and local development, emphasizing on the peculiar case of Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN). From tools of network economics, the paper studies the market dynamics of telecommunication networks and the infrastructure diffusion from metropolitan regions to peripheral ones. This market dynamics shows that the infrastructure offering by local communities can contribute to local development only if regulation mechanisms of co-operation between local public institutions are instituted.metropolitan area networks, network economics, competition/co-operation, local communities, local development

The interactions which occur between individuals depend on the distance between them and the ensuing transportation and communication costs. A central position allows for the minimization of these costs: activities which are not tied to resources found only in particular places seek this type of location. For central place theory, cities are fundamentally market places, i.e. central locations for the neighbouring areas, and urban networks hierarchized Systems of communication. Centrality is not only functional: it explains the symbolic role of cities. Recent progress in communication technology transforms the traditional structure of urban networks and is responsible for the contemporary trend towards metropolization
