    Genetic Action Trees A New Concept for Social and Economic Simulation

    Multi-Agent Based Simulation is a branch of Distributed Artificial Intelligence that builds the base for computer simulations which connect the micro and macro level of social and economic scenarios. This paper presents a new method of modelling the formation and change of patterns of action in social systems with the help of Multi-Agent Simulations. The approach is based on two scientific concepts: Genetic Algorithms [Goldberg 1989, Holland 1975] and the theory of Action Trees [Goldman 1971]. Genetic Algorithms were developed following the biological mechanisms of evolution. Action Trees are used in analytic philosophy for the structural description of actions. The theory of Action Trees makes use of the observation of linguistic analysis that through the preposition by a semi-order is induced on a set of actions. Through the application of Genetic Algorithms on the attributes of the actions of an Action Tree an intuitively simple algorithm can be developed with which one can describe the learning behaviour of agents and the changes in action spaces. Using the extremely simplified economic action space, in this paper called “SMALLWORLDâ€, it is shown with the aid of this method how simulated agents react to the qualities and changes of their environment. Thus, one manages to endogenously evoke intuitively comprehensible changes in the agents‘ actions. This way, one can observe in these simulations that the agents move from a barter to a monetary economy because of the higher effectiveness or that they change their behaviour towards actions of fraud.Multi agent system, genetic algorithms, actiontrees, learning, decision making, economic and social behaviour, distributed artificial intelligence

    Implementation of Anomaly Based Network Intrusion Detection by Using Q-learning Technique

    Network Intrusion detection System (NIDS) is an intrusion detection system that tries to discover malicious activity such as service attacks, port scans or even attempts to break into computers by monitoring network traffic. Data mining techniques make it possible to search large amounts of data for characteristic rules and patterns. If applied to network monitoring data recorded on a host or in a network, they can be used to detect intrusions, attacks or anomalies. We proposed “machine learning method”, cascading Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and the Q-learning methods to classifying anomalous and normal activities in a computer network. This paper investigates the use of PCA to reduce high dimensional data and to improve the predictive performance. On the reduced data, representing a density region of normal or anomaly instances, Q-learning strategies are applied for the creation of agents that can adapt to unknown, complex environments. We attempted to create an agent that would learn to explore an environment and collect the malicious within it. We obtained interesting results where agents were able to re-adapt their learning quickly to the new traffic and network information as compare to the other machine learning method such as supervised learning and unsupervised learning.     Secure Collaborative Augmented Reality Framework for Biomedical Informatics

    Augmented reality is currently a great interest in biomedical health informatics. At the same time, several challenges have been appeared, in particular with the rapid progress of smart sensors technologies, and medical artificial intelligence. This yields the necessity of new needs in biomedical health informatics. Collaborative learning and privacy are some of the challenges of augmented reality technology in biomedical health informatics. This paper introduces a novel secure collaborative augmented reality framework for biomedical health informatics-based applications. Distributed deep learning is first performed across a multi-agent system platform. The privacy strategy is developed for ensuring better communications of the different intelligent agents in the system. In this research work, a system of multiple agents is created for the simulation of the collective behaviours of the smart components of biomedical health informatics. Augmented reality is also incorporated for better visualization of the resulted medical patterns. A novel privacy strategy based on blockchain is investigated for ensuring the confidentiality of the learning process. Experiments are conducted on the real use case of the biomedical segmentation process. Our strong experimental analysis reveals the strength of the proposed framework when directly compared to state-of-the-art biomedical health informatics solutions.acceptedVersio

    Multimodal Dialogue Management for Multiparty Interaction with Infants

    We present dialogue management routines for a system to engage in multiparty agent-infant interaction. The ultimate purpose of this research is to help infants learn a visual sign language by engaging them in naturalistic and socially contingent conversations during an early-life critical period for language development (ages 6 to 12 months) as initiated by an artificial agent. As a first step, we focus on creating and maintaining agent-infant engagement that elicits appropriate and socially contingent responses from the baby. Our system includes two agents, a physical robot and an animated virtual human. The system's multimodal perception includes an eye-tracker (measures attention) and a thermal infrared imaging camera (measures patterns of emotional arousal). A dialogue policy is presented that selects individual actions and planned multiparty sequences based on perceptual inputs about the baby's internal changing states of emotional engagement. The present version of the system was evaluated in interaction with 8 babies. All babies demonstrated spontaneous and sustained engagement with the agents for several minutes, with patterns of conversationally relevant and socially contingent behaviors. We further performed a detailed case-study analysis with annotation of all agent and baby behaviors. Results show that the baby's behaviors were generally relevant to agent conversations and contained direct evidence for socially contingent responses by the baby to specific linguistic samples produced by the avatar. This work demonstrates the potential for language learning from agents in very young babies and has especially broad implications regarding the use of artificial agents with babies who have minimal language exposure in early life

    Human Motion Trajectory Prediction: A Survey

    With growing numbers of intelligent autonomous systems in human environments, the ability of such systems to perceive, understand and anticipate human behavior becomes increasingly important. Specifically, predicting future positions of dynamic agents and planning considering such predictions are key tasks for self-driving vehicles, service robots and advanced surveillance systems. This paper provides a survey of human motion trajectory prediction. We review, analyze and structure a large selection of work from different communities and propose a taxonomy that categorizes existing methods based on the motion modeling approach and level of contextual information used. We provide an overview of the existing datasets and performance metrics.
