Work-family conflict and cyberloafing: the mediating role of work stress

    Get PDF
This study was conducted to analyze the effect of work-family conflict on work stress. Furthermore, we also examine the mediating role of work stress on the relatioship between work-family conflict on cyberloafing. Results of path analysis on 133 respondents form PT. AIC, Semarang, Indonesia shows that work-family conflict positively affects work stress. This research also indicated that work stress did not act as an intervening variable because the respondents had other stress coping mechanism than cyberloafing

Quantification of Ichnological, Paleoecological, Paleohydrological, and Paleoclimatological Information from the Upper Jurassic Morrison Formation

This dissertation takes a multifaceted approach to interpreting paleoenvironments and paleoclimate represented by the strata of the Morrison Formation (MF). The MF has been the subject of geological and paleontological investigations for well over a century, but a number of confounding factors have limited interpretations. One problem with interpreting MF ichnology is uncertainty about the sedimentary conditions under which deep dinosaur tracks were made. To solve this problem, I developed new methods to measure trace fossils, including footprints. I used multistripe laser triangulation scanning to create three-dimensional digital models of traces, from which I improved precision of traditional ichnological techniques. I also performed neoichnological experiments with elephants to collect empirical trackmaking data, to which I applied multiple regression to derive a quantitative relationship between physical trackmaking variables. Results showed that many deep sauropod tracks were created in near saturated conditions. Megafaunal track preservation was one factor taken into consideration when interpreting paleohydrology from moisture regimes represented by trace-fossil assemblages. I demonstrated the usefulness of ichnological moisture regimes by interpreting ichnocoenoses in MF avulsion deposits in the Bighorn Basin. I found a regular pattern of moisture profiles associated with crevassing that can be used to identify avulsion deposits in future ichnological studies. Ichnological moisture regimes were incorporated with other pedogenic features to develop a soil moisture index that was combined with measures of carbonate content, carbonate mineralogy, total organic carbon, and stable isotopes of carbonates and organic carbon to construct a detailed vertical profile through the MF in the Henry Mountains, Utah. This profile is useful for paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental interpretations as well as for correlation to marine isotope records. I compared the vertical profile to paleoecological patterns determined from food-web network analyses and found a possible correlation between a global shift in organic carbon isotopes and an episode of biotic turnover. I also found that MF food webs were extremely stable, a factor that may have contributed to the success of dinosaur-dominated ecosystems during the Mesozoic

How Transitive Are Real-World Group Interactions? -- Measurement and Reproduction

Many real-world interactions (e.g., researcher collaborations and email communication) occur among multiple entities. These group interactions are naturally modeled as hypergraphs. In graphs, transitivity is helpful to understand the connections between node pairs sharing a neighbor, and it has extensive applications in various domains. Hypergraphs, an extension of graphs, are designed to represent group relations. However, to the best of our knowledge, there has been no examination regarding the transitivity of real-world group interactions. In this work, we investigate the transitivity of group interactions in real-world hypergraphs. We first suggest intuitive axioms as necessary characteristics of hypergraph transitivity measures. Then, we propose a principled hypergraph transitivity measure HyperTrans, which satisfies all the proposed axioms, with a fast computation algorithm Fast-HyperTrans. After that, we analyze the transitivity patterns in real-world hypergraphs distinguished from those in random hypergraphs. Lastly, we propose a scalable hypergraph generator THera. It reproduces the observed transitivity patterns by leveraging community structures, which are pervasive in real-world hypergraphs. Determinants of Corporate Internet Financial Reporting in Asia-Pacific Countries: A Cross Country Analysis

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to provide a comparative analysis of the quality of Corporate Internet Financial Reporting (CIFR) practices in the Asia Pacific. It examines the impact of firm size, listing age, internationalization, and auditor size on CIFR practices. The population in this study are all publicly listed companies in Australia, Singapore, and Indonesia. The sample comprises of non-financial companies in 2019, namely 95 Australian companies, 87 Singapore companies, and 85 Indonesian companies. Multivariate analysis is used to examine the hypothesis. The results show that Singapore and Indonesian firms have higher CIFR disclosure compared to Australia. This study found that some firm characteristics explain the level of CIFR disclosure. Firm size, internationalization, and auditor type have a significantly positive impact to CIFR disclosure in the Asia Pacific, while listing age does not explain the level of the CIFR
