ISMA-DS/CDMA MAC protocol for mobile packet radio networks
In this paper an ISMA-DS/CDMA MAC protocol for a packet transmission network is presented. The main feature of this protocol is its ability to retain the inherent flexibility of random access protocols while at the same time reducing to some extent the randomness in the access in order to increase the system capacity. In this framework, the protocol is adapted to a frame structure similar to that specified in the UTRA ETSI proposal for third generation mobile communication systems. Additionally, some adaptive mechanisms are proposed that improve protocol performance by means of varying the transmission bit rate according to the channel load that is broadcast by the base station. Power control for WCDMA
This project tries to introduce itself in the physical implementations that make
possible the denominated third generation mobile technology. As well as to
know the technology kind that makes possible, for example, a video-call in real
time.
During this project, the different phases passed from the election of WCDMA
like the access method for UMTS will appear. Its coexistence with previous
network GSM will be analyzed, where the compatibility between systems has
been one of the most important aspects in the development of WCDMA, the
involved standardization organisms in the process, as well as the different
protocols that make the mobile communications within a network UTRAN
possible. Special emphasis during the study of the great contribution that has
offered WCDMA with respect to the control of power of the existing signals will
be made.
The future lines that are considered in the present, and other comment that
already are in their last phase of development in the field of the mobile
technology.

SIMULATION OF A CODE DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS (CDMA) 2000 DOWNLINK SYSTEM
The topic chosen for this project is the simulation of a CDMA 2000 downlink
system. CDMA 2000 is a 3G mobile telecommunications standard that uses CDMA
to send voice, data and signaling data (such as a dialed telephone number) between
mobile telephones and cell sites. The purpose of the simulation is to show that the
design of the system can be implemented in actual application. The original codes and
libraries aretaken directly from the Matlab software for the purpose of the simulation.
The simulation is set up by considering the data rate, the channel model and also the
performance of the system in terms of bit error rate results and the frame quality
indicator.

The mobile satellite service (MSS) systems for global personal communications
A worldwide interest has arisen on personal communications via satellite systems. The recently proposed mobile satellite service(MSS) systems are categorized four areas: geostationary earth orbit(GEO) systems, medium earth orbit(MEO) systems, low earth orbit(LEO) systems, and highly elliptical orbit(HEO) systems. Most of the systems in each category are introduced and explained including some technical details. The communication links and orbital constellations of some systems are analyzed and compared with different categories, and with different systems. Some economical aspects of the systems are mentioned. The regulatory issues about frequency spectrum allocation, and the current technical trends in these systems are summarized
