Decoding Information from noisy, redundant, and intentionally-distorted sources
Advances in information technology reduce barriers to information
propagation, but at the same time they also induce the information overload
problem. For the making of various decisions, mere digestion of the relevant
information has become a daunting task due to the massive amount of information
available. This information, such as that generated by evaluation systems
developed by various web sites, is in general useful but may be noisy and may
also contain biased entries. In this study, we establish a framework to
systematically tackle the challenging problem of information decoding in the
presence of massive and redundant data. When applied to a voting system, our
method simultaneously ranks the raters and the ratees using only the evaluation
data, consisting of an array of scores each of which represents the rating of a
ratee by a rater. Not only is our appraoch effective in decoding information,
it is also shown to be robust against various hypothetical types of noise as

Motorcycle rider safety project: summary report
Motorcycle trauma is a serious issue in Queensland and throughout Australia; the fatality rate per 100 million kilometres travelled for motorcycle riders in Australia is nearly 30 times the rate for drivers of other vehicles (Australian Transport Safety Bureau, 2002). In 2009, the then Queensland Transport (later the Department of Transport and Main Roads or TMR) appointed CARRS-Q to provide a three-year program of Road Safety Research Services for Motorcycle Rider Safety. Funding for this research originated from the Motor Accident Insurance Commission. This program of research was undertaken to produce knowledge to assist TMR to improve motorcycle safety by further strengthening the licensing and training system to make learner riders safer by developing a pre-learner package (Deliverable 1), and by evaluating the Q-Ride CAP program to ensure that it is maximally effective and contributes to the best possible training for new riders (Deliverable 2), and identifying potential new licensing components that will reduce the incidence of risky riding and improve higher-order cognitive skills in new riders (Deliverable 3)

ERP implementation success is influenced by a large number of factors. User involvement and participation is one of the most cited critical success factors in ERP implementation projects, and one of the most critical ones for their satisfactory outcome. This study attempts to define a set of metrics for monitoring user involvement and participation within ERP implementation projects by using the Goals/Questions/Metrics method. First, a literature review is presented. Second, a framework for monitoring user involvement and participation in ERP implementation projects is proposed. Realising intelligent virtual design
This paper presents a vision and focus for the CAD Centre research: the Intelligent Design Assistant (IDA). The vision is based upon the assumption that the human and computer can operate symbiotically, with the computer providing support for the human within the design process. Recently however the focus has been towards the development of integrated design platforms that provide general support irrespective of the domain, to a number of distributed collaborative designers. This is illustrated within the successfully completed Virtual Reality Ship (VRS) virtual platform, and the challenges are discussed further within the NECTISE, SAFEDOR and VIRTUE projects

Exploring participatory design for SNS-based AEH systems
The rapidly emerging and growing social networking sites (SNS) offer an opportunity to improve adaptive e-learning
experience by introducing a social dimension, connecting users within the system. Making connections and providing communication tools can engage students in creating effective learning environment and enriching learning experiences.
Researchers have been working on introducing SNS features into adaptive educational hypermedia systems. The next stage research is centered on how to enhance SNS facilities of AEH systems, in order to engage students’ participation in collaborative learning and generating and enriching learning materials.
